Lovely resort right inside Kinabalu Park. Chalets are surrounded by greens and nearby jungle trails. There are plenty of restaurants near the hotel too. Good breakfast spread at the hotel. BUT the Lunch buffet was disappointing wth limited spread & coffee not included. At RM50 plus per head, i would have expected coffee to be inclusive. Rooms are clean and beds very comfortable. BUT no wifi inside Liwagu Suites and Astro doesn't work due to weather 😅. Hotel staff shows great hospitality and responds promptly to requests which is great inspite of some shortcomingsFrom$74

I loved my stay at this resort. Its location is fantastic! I was looking to disconnect and relax - and that’s precisely what I got! It is situated on top of a hill and it is completely surrounded by nature. The room was great! It had a TV, a nice bathroom and a big and comfortable bed. I loved the wet Mee Hoon with seafood at the restaurant. All in all, it’s an ideal place to relax, stay a bit away from the noise of the city and enjoy the lovely views of Mount Kinabalu and the surroundings. The first thing to note is that the humidity in the Shenshan Mountain is very high, it can give you heavy fog at every turn, and the animal diversity in the Shenshan is also very high. Due to the various local architectural structures with unique characteristics, many small animals can enter the room. Yes, but most of them will not provoke people except mosquitoes and are mostly harmless.
All ratings are relative, after all, there are only a handful of B&Bs that are so close to the mountain near Kundashan Town. As a homestay for climbing the sacred mountain, it is generally very good.
The environment is still very comfortable, but the humidity is too high and the sound insulation of the walls is not very satisfactory. The hot water facilities are not as bad as other reviews. They may have been improved. They are cleaned every day, and they are still a little careful about hygiene. Breakfast can be full. It’s just over 1 km to the Shenshan Park Headquarters. If the weather is good, you can see the Shenshan Peak in the lodge.
There are dogs, but they are relatives. As long as they know you, they will not be fierce. One night, there was no street light in the darkness. Walking back to the room from the Borneo Hotel far away, it was quite warm when the dog came out to lead the way at the entrance of the lodge.

We booked through Agoda. Check-in was smooth with a deposit of RM 50 + Tax. There is no breakfast included and there is very limited choice of food in the cafeteria. From the main road, it is accessible one car per way and be careful as there is a steep road to the room from the receptionist. The room is well maintained but needs to be upgraded one day. Amenities only include towels, cups, and soaps. The TV connection was good too. Overall, it's a good stay.SOLD OUT

The location is easy to find..just in front of the road...the breathtaking view of akinabalu early in the morning....good service from the staff..cleanliness needs to be improved (the toilet slippers may need to be changed as they look unclean)..Amenities...ok only the kettle we use sometimes turns on and is often difficult to press. I visited with my Family on the 8th of August. Took a twin room which has 2 queen sized beds. I arrived at the location at noon, feeling very stressed out because was having a bit of an argument with the family. My mother was having one of her fits when we arrived, saying she didn't like the place, I on the other hand, was wondering why I spent so much money on this place. I called the caretaker and he was quick to respond, good guy, we got to our room, still stressed out, and felt instantly that the room was sp****. I was immediately questioning my reasoning for booking this place. Fast forward an hour or so later, when everyone calmed down (mother included), we were immediately in a better mood. The landscaping of the place is really beautiful, and the view of mount kinabalu was very majestic. We left both the front and back door open and the winds were blowing through the room, keeping it cool, my mom and my sisters were all starting to enjoy the place, myself included. I started looking into the details of the rooms, the quality of the materials used to construct the villa was of the highest quality, toilet was made with marble, and everything else was simple but robust, and could tell that material choice was quite important. The landscaping was also quite nice. Beautiful garden. And it's just so private. To sum it all up here are the pros and cons of this place. Pros: 1. High quality material used to construct the rooms 2. Beautiful landscaping - very calming and great. 3. Very private 4. Friendly and quick team to reply 5. Nice toilet (best in Kundasang) Cons 1. Price a bit on the high side (but it's private and most probably the nicest hotel in kundasang, cant compare to established hotels in the city( 2. Lacks some finer details : instead of 3 in 1 coffee, put a Nespresso machine in every room with 4 to 6 capsules, that really makes a difference in terms of perceived quality. 3. Pillows could be better - sheets are alright and bed is alright - but I stayed in four seasons kl for 40 percent cheaper, so... A bit hard on that end 4. I appreciate the disposable tooth brush, soaps etc. But I think the soap would be better if it was in a bottle stuck to the shower wall where it can be refillable, perhaps they could use a branded soap and shampoo for that, and not put it in small bottles, but in refillable permanent bottles in the room. 5. Restaurant - it's not under them, they share it with the hotel about a 5 minutes drive away. It's not bad, but it's far from good. No alcohol in sight there, so better BYOD. Although pricing wise it's on the high side, and there are some things that they can improve on, I'd still go back there, as it's the only great and private stay in kundasang. Everywhere else is not up to spring gardens quality, for now.... SOLD OUT

I love this hotel eventhough some people say this hotel is old hotel but when I reach here, this hotel is under renovation but almost 70% complete. Really beautiful surrounding, And the most thing, food is very nice and cheap. I love all the food especially Buttermilk prawn and the ayam goreng. Poridge also nice and the taste same like bubur Mcd. Those who come here, I advice you no need to eat outside for dinner, just having it here at the hotel. For those who book for chalet you have to cross the hotel Jambatan Gantung and you can feel the experience pull your luggage through the jambatan. All the staff are very nice and really helping. We revisited the property because of the location just a week apart. First time the price was rm100, then a week after that rm135 including breakfast. They do not have option to exclude the breakfast. When I inquired about the breakfast, the front desk showed me their menu with wide range of breakfast but the next morning, we were given a coupon to tick one of 5 choices, 2 of which were not available. Choices were bad, food was bad, all in all - rm35 breakfast for 2 was not worth it. You could find a better tasting options in the town which is just a walking distance. They will ask for deposit. First time, the deposit was rm50, then they increased it to rm100 a week later. So, I am not sure how long this review will stand correct when it comes to the amount of deposit they actually required. Telephone was not working (which they change for us), TV was not working (which they couldn't do much because they haven't applied for Astro), room slightly dusty, flooring makes sound when you walk, so you might need to tiptoe if someone is sleeping, the garden table at the balcony could be hazardous simply because they failed to adhere to the law of physics, and when you thought it couldn't go worse, the next day we had a very noisy guests with kids running and shouting as early as 6am in the morning. Apart of the location, I don't think I would rate this property as good value for the money.From$26

Stayed in the Queen Room C with mountain view, literally waking up on bed looking at the majestic mountain in the morning. And resting on bed see it covered with clouds in the evening. Room : basic & clean, electric kettle, 2 water bottles & 2 mugs & 2 bath towels. Toilet : clean with good strong toilet cistern flushes. Shower : 1 big bottle shampoo & 1 big bottle body & 1 bottle hand wash. Samuel is very kind to watsapp tips on getting a good hot shower in the night. no meals catered but a leisure 20min walk down to market & town, KFC & coffee shops & Alliance Bank. My wife and I viewed online before booking and from the photos it looked like a good enough place for one night. After checking in we were horrified and my wife wanted to abandon our booking and find somewhere, anywhere else. At the last minute we couldn’t find anything else so put up with the following: The door stuck upon opening. It had a plank of wood attached from presumably being forced or previously broken. The room smelled musty The floor was filthy. We opted to wear out outdoor shoes when moving around The bedding had stains and felt damp (not cold as is expected in Kundasang - I’m from Scotland and know the difference between damp and cold). It also smelled musty. The leatherette headboard was covered in stains and was filthy. I dampened a tissue and wipes to show how bad it was. The walls were badly plastered and painted with wall paint over the skirting boards. The walls had numerous large stains. The towels were stained and very worn. Holes in them and I’ve had thicker napkins. The balcony door glass had not been cleaned in a long time. It was in any case covered in A4 paper setting out various “rules”. There were numerous dead bugs behind the papers. When my wife opened the balcony doors, the bug screen fell out onto the balcony. The balcony door didn’t lock (we were ground floor) The two “chairs” were out on the balcony and were old plastic patio chairs which had degraded so much to be brittle. One was already snapped. The “room slippers” were from different pairs and were disgusting. The bathroom ventilation seemed to be via the numerous holes in the ceiling. The shower riser rail fell off the wall when I tried to adjust it. The bathroom tap was loose so moved in its mount when we tried to use it. We didn’t dare use the water kettle I’m sure there were other issues I’ve forgotten but from the above, I can state that out of the hundreds of hotels, hostels and camping sites I’ve stayed at, this place is in my worst five.SOLD OUT

All the rooms at Bayu Senja opens up to a beautiful view of the valley. We stayed at the upper floor, which gave an even better view. On the night of a clear sky, you can even see stars. Although the room is not equipped with an air condition, the cool and fresh mountain air is enough to do the trick. The place is definitely peaceful and quiet, as the nearest restaurant is a 5-10 mins drive away. The roads are quite narrow and dark, so to walk out for food in the dead of night would be quite dangerous. The place is slightly out of the way and if you are driving at night, you might miss the turn off as there are not clear lid signage to indicate the location. The shared kitchen could be better maintained but I guess, it could be the guest(s) who did not picked up after themselves. Another note is that the hot shower, aren't exactly hot and not even close to warm, probably because the water is so cold that the heater is unable to heat the water up properly.SOLD OUT

Lovely resort right inside Kinabalu Park. Chalets are surrounded by greens and nearby jungle trails. There are plenty of restaurants near the hotel too. Good breakfast spread at the hotel. BUT the Lunch buffet was disappointing wth limited spread & coffee not included. At RM50 plus per head, i would have expected coffee to be inclusive. Rooms are clean and beds very comfortable. BUT no wifi inside Liwagu Suites and Astro doesn't work due to weather 😅. Hotel staff shows great hospitality and responds promptly to requests which is great inspite of some shortcomingsFrom$74

I loved my stay at this resort. Its location is fantastic! I was looking to disconnect and relax - and that’s precisely what I got! It is situated on top of a hill and it is completely surrounded by nature. The room was great! It had a TV, a nice bathroom and a big and comfortable bed. I loved the wet Mee Hoon with seafood at the restaurant. All in all, it’s an ideal place to relax, stay a bit away from the noise of the city and enjoy the lovely views of Mount Kinabalu and the surroundings. The first thing to note is that the humidity in the Shenshan Mountain is very high, it can give you heavy fog at every turn, and the animal diversity in the Shenshan is also very high. Due to the various local architectural structures with unique characteristics, many small animals can enter the room. Yes, but most of them will not provoke people except mosquitoes and are mostly harmless.
All ratings are relative, after all, there are only a handful of B&Bs that are so close to the mountain near Kundashan Town. As a homestay for climbing the sacred mountain, it is generally very good.
The environment is still very comfortable, but the humidity is too high and the sound insulation of the walls is not very satisfactory. The hot water facilities are not as bad as other reviews. They may have been improved. They are cleaned every day, and they are still a little careful about hygiene. Breakfast can be full. It’s just over 1 km to the Shenshan Park Headquarters. If the weather is good, you can see the Shenshan Peak in the lodge.
There are dogs, but they are relatives. As long as they know you, they will not be fierce. One night, there was no street light in the darkness. Walking back to the room from the Borneo Hotel far away, it was quite warm when the dog came out to lead the way at the entrance of the lodge.
The mountain is really quite sensible.From$10

The location is easy to find..just in front of the road...the breathtaking view of akinabalu early in the morning....good service from the staff..cleanliness needs to be improved (the toilet slippers may need to be changed as they look unclean)..Amenities...ok only the kettle we use sometimes turns on and is often difficult to press. There is only one bright room light and WATER SUPPLY... this morning I was only able to wash my face with 7 people staying in a room with no water...From$34

We revisited the property because of the location just a week apart. First time the price was rm100, then a week after that rm135 including breakfast. They do not have option to exclude the breakfast. When I inquired about the breakfast, the front desk showed me their menu with wide range of breakfast but the next morning, we were given a coupon to tick one of 5 choices, 2 of which were not available. Choices were bad, food was bad, all in all - rm35 breakfast for 2 was not worth it. You could find a better tasting options in the town which is just a walking distance. They will ask for deposit. First time, the deposit was rm50, then they increased it to rm100 a week later. So, I am not sure how long this review will stand correct when it comes to the amount of deposit they actually required. Telephone was not working (which they change for us), TV was not working (which they couldn't do much because they haven't applied for Astro), room slightly dusty, flooring makes sound when you walk, so you might need to tiptoe if someone is sleeping, the garden table at the balcony could be hazardous simply because they failed to adhere to the law of physics, and when you thought it couldn't go worse, the next day we had a very noisy guests with kids running and shouting as early as 6am in the morning. Apart of the location, I don't think I would rate this property as good value for the money.From$26
