I booked a mountain-view room, and it was on the first floor. It was a duplex, one-bedroom with a living room and a balcony. Free parking was a plus. The room came with a full set of kitchen utensils. The hotel is right across from the lake, and there's a supermarket and restaurants nearby. The front desk staff were incredibly patient and helpful. It was also super convenient to walk to the Church of the Good Shepherd for stargazing at night.

The location is unbeatable; it's less than 100 meters walk from the Intercity bus stop. The hostel's exterior with its large glass windows reflecting the lake is stunning, and the interior has high ceilings, making it feel very spacious. However, the cleaning is not done promptly, and the lobby floor was dirty. Rooms 2, 3, and 4 are very close to the bathroom, and the door kept slamming all night, making it impossible to sleep well. It's acceptable for a one-night stay, but only for the beautiful views of Tekapo.

The hotel faces Lake Tekapo, offering beautiful scenery. You're definitely paying for the location here, as the room itself is quite small – it was even a struggle to open our luggage. Then, early in the morning, around 6 AM, there was a fire alarm incident. Staff made everyone evacuate and stand outside for over an hour. After checking, they found it was a false alarm and just offered a brief apology. It was a really bad experience, and I won't consider staying here again if I visit in the future.

This apartment is the most satisfying place on this trip. It can be said to be amazing. First of all, all the equipment is available, just like going home. Then the apartment is incredibly large. The living room and kitchen are so big that you can do somersaults. The equipment is very new and clean. The kitchen is equipped with all possible supplies. The scenery here is also great. You can see the lake from the living room. There are two super large balconies. Our family of three lives in two bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is a small farm not far away where you can pet animals. It takes only a few minutes to drive to the town center. In short, everything is perfect, but it’s a pity that we only stayed for one night. Facilities: Everything is available. The first thing we did when we arrived was to wash and dry clothes. It’s so convenient. The heating is also super comfortable, the bathroom is brand new and clean, the kitchen appliances are very complete, and there is free milk. Hygiene: Very clean Environment: Facing Lake Tekapo, beautiful scenery Service: Very good, the landlord introduced the house to us

We booked a one-bedroom villa, but to our surprise, it actually had three bedrooms! The space was incredibly large and a delightful surprise. The ground floor features a garage, and the living room has a cozy fireplace with spacious, comfortable sofas. The dining area is huge, and the kitchen is fully equipped with dinnerware, cookware, a microwave, and an oven, perfectly meeting our daily needs and allowing for easy meal preparation. It was a truly comfortable stay. Our entire trip to Tekapo was perfect, and this villa truly exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended!

Avoid this hotel at all costs! This is the first time a hotel has made me so furious. We were five minutes late checking out because someone in our group had mobility issues, and the staff member rushed over to hurry us along. We explained the situation, but she kept complaining and eventually became very rude. She even went to complain to the manager, who was just as unhelpful. A good manager would have tried to mediate and smooth things over, but instead, they insisted we were the problem, and an argument ensued. It reminded me of another group of guests checking in before us yesterday; the staff were similarly rude and confrontational. I honestly feel like they might be ******! I can't believe a 2400-a-night hotel has such terrible service. I'll never stay here again! Even the beautiful scenery was ruined by the experience. The owner seriously needs to find a new service team, or the bad reviews will just keep piling up. I was going to post some positive photos, but not anymore! The service was just awful!

Great location right by a beautiful lake — perfect for the scenery. The accommodation was generally clean and comfortable, and the bathroom in particular was well-maintained. The kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, a toaster, and microwave. However, some of the cookware could use a proper clean as there is burnt residue on them, and a few of the stovetops don’t work reliably. Cleanliness could be improved overall, as there was some rubbish under the bed. The walls are quite thin, so noise can be an issue — you can hear people walking up and down, as well as doors banging from guests coming in and out of rooms. It’s worth noting that guests need to bring their own towels, make their own beds on arrival, and strip the sheets before leaving. Overall, a pleasant stay in a fantastic location, with just a few practical improvements needed.

The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, pots, and electric ceramic stoves, which is suitable for self-catering. From the balcony of the room, you can see the snow-capped mountains and Lake Tekapo opposite. It is very beautiful. It is a nice apartment! Aside from it being hard to locate at night, everything else was fantastic. The room was clean and comfortable, and all the family cooking facilities were fully equipped. Lake Tekapo|0.52km from city center
Overall, it wasn't terrible, but it was definitely the worst place we stayed during our New Zealand trip. Tekapo is super popular, and even booking four months in advance for over a thousand dollars a night, this was the best we could get. If possible, book half a year ahead during the off-peak season. This property is a whole holiday home divided into three apartments (A, B, C) for rent. Apartment A faces the lake, which is more like a small pond, but it does have ducks and wild rabbits. The view is pretty average by New Zealand standards. It's also a 15-20 minute walk to the town center's Four Square supermarket, which can be tiring if you have a lot of luggage and no car. The soundproofing in the room is really bad; we had noisy neighbors all night. The most ridiculous thing is that there isn't a single usable table or chair inside the room. The only option is the outdoor patio furniture, but it was raining when we were there, so we couldn't use it anyway. Plus, the neighbors' kids were ill-mannered and stepped all over it, so I doubt anyone would want to eat there. Even more outrageous, the water pressure in the bathroom was almost nonexistent. You'd get better pressure from a garden hose! The bathroom itself is quite spacious, but that's pointless. The Wi-Fi is shared among the three apartments, and you have to stand in a specific spot in the room to get a good connection. Customer service communication is old-school email, but at least they reply once a day. The most chilling part was on check-out day: the key safe outside had been tampered with; someone had pressed the code. I distinctly remember scrambling the numbers. Oh well, luckily there was no key inside. If you can accept all these points, then this room is perfect for you.

The B&B's location is a bit far from the town center, making dining inconvenient! The house number was also hard to find, tucked away inside! Since it was self-check-in, I received an email saying my room was marked with a 'B' on the door, but I couldn't find it anywhere! It also mentioned a password lock on the wall, but there wasn't one! I finally found the main door, but the password didn't open the room door! I had to make multiple international calls to contact the host to get the correct password! After all that trouble, I finally checked in, but I didn't even have time to eat dinner because I had a star-gazing tour booked for the evening! It was a very unpleasant check-in experience! The mattresses in New Zealand B&Bs are generally very soft, especially the single beds, which are small and soft, making it easy to fall off when you turn over!

I stayed on the same day ten years ago, and I chose it for this. The hotel is actually a villa, far from the town, it takes 18 minutes to drive from the town's big supermarket, and it is five kilometers away, near Lake Tekapo. There is no light pollution, it is a great place to watch the Galaxy at night. Five rooms, with ten beds in size, suitable for small teams, no single rental. The facilities are the same as ten years ago, and they are very old. You can chop firewood fireplace, cook well-equipped, away from the town, you must communicate at a service point in the town to understand the specific location and route of the hotel, and you must buy enough food in the town supermarket. We are couple with a 5 year old girl. We paid SGD697.85 (Singapore dollar) for staying 2 nights in this “2 bedroom apartment” as stated. 3 points here to explain the terrible experience. 1. tv remote is not working. I don’t mind the owner making excuse like “ replied customer’s message within 20mins…..” but they actually took 29mins to reply (19:10 till 19:39). In fact, they didn’t manage to change the tv remote in the end. So I stayed 2 nights without using the TV! 2.there is no clear and obvious description that this “2 bedroom apartment” is actually an adjoining unit which means when u walked into the front door then there are 2 doors link to split parts of the apartment. The problem of adjoining units are thin walls are used to split the apartment into 2 small units. When u stay in this kind of apartment, u have to endure all kind of noises from whoever staying in neighboring rooms. We had 2 days enduring guesting from the other room shouting, slamming the door, kids screaming like crazy both early in the morning and afternoon! 3. When I reflect this bad experience with trip.com customer service, this hotel responded like they have no fault at all and played with words. This attitude makes us feel like being fooled. We paid money to expect to stay in an apartment with privacy and quiet environment but indeed we had such a bad experience! In this market, if it’s an adjoining unit, they should not charge at the rate as if it’s an entire apartment. I’m alright that they rejected to refund the extra amount they charged. Just have to reflect the facts in the review. Thanks.

There's nothing obstructing the view outside, so you can stargaze directly from the entrance at night.

Lovely location, just a few minutes walk to town. Close by restaurants and shops. Easy check-in process, and the place is clean. It's slightly cold though, one of the hot showers is not hot enough. Otherwise, we had a great time staying here. Tekapo is lovely in the winter!
