A very cozy, interestingly decorated hotel on a quiet beach without crowds of people. We were afraid of the winds on the east coast, but it's not that bad, the pool saves. Breakfasts without a buffet, with a beautiful presentation, enough variety for a week. The bed and pillows are wonderful. Natural toiletries. I was pleasantly surprised by the availability of sun cream by the pool. Free water activities (kayak, snorkeling, etc.) are offered. A bit tired hotel, cold tiles on the floor in the rooms, nowhere to dry bathing suits. Good food, excellent restaurant. We had dinner in a Japanese restaurant, really liked it. Didn't like that random people were walking around the hotel, we didn't see any security, and if there was, they didn't pay attention to it. Strangers came up to the sun loungers, went inside, took a shower near the pool, probably could have gone into the restaurant, because there was no one at the entrance, no one asked anything. Once they brought us a bill written out for our room the day before, without a signature. We said that it wasn't our bill, they calmly removed it, probably not the first time.From€1,340

Check in was hectic. There were so many guests checking in and waiting in such a small space. We checked in at 3 pm but the room wasn’t ready until 3.45 pm. We got to the room and found out that they upgraded us (without telling us). The upgraded room was a big suite which was very nice but it was on the ground floor. We booked a junior suite balcony which is upstairs (we prefer upstairs as more privacy and better view) we had to ask to move to the type of room that we actually booked for! (What a waste of time for everyone) the room was very beautiful and comfortable and we LOVED the balcony. We love le Morne beach the water is so clear with different shades of blue but here we find the beach to be a bit too wide so you are a bit far from the sea (we stayed at another hotel in Le morne and we found there we were closer to the see with better view of Le Morne) Plenty of available sun beds. We didn’t like the pools so didn’t go in. Breakfast was disappointing compared to the price we pay. Service was not bad but not great. Overall, it was an ok stay.SOLD OUT

The hotel is expensive for a reason. The facilities are complete and you can basically enjoy them without leaving the hotel. There is golf but I didn't experience it, and I didn't want to spend money on the spa. Except that the Chinese restaurant was a bit shabby, everything else was perfect. I only stayed for three days and didn't have the barbecue buffet, which was a bit regrettable, but everything else was really perfect. We really liked the hotel: comfortable, cozy, quiet at night, first line, private clean beach with a beautiful view, which was cleaned every morning especially for the comfort of guests. The only thing to consider is that you definitely need to rent a car here, because taxis are expensive and take a long time to wait. But we rented a car, so everything was great.
I played golf on the local course, and my wife and I also went to the spa, where Kevina and Sweta gave us a very good massage.
There are a lot of small lizards on the territory, but this is a typical story for Mauritius, there are a number of insects that the staff actively fights, and at breakfast you can be bothered by rather impudent sparrows. Rats in restaurant
On arrival the hotel is really beautiful - a small oasis tucked away with gorgeous colonial style. The reception staff were really lovely and made us feel welcome.
The room was really nice - but there were a few things we noticed (which we let slide at the start) - massive dirty lipstick mark on one of our water glasses, filthy lampshades above the bathroom sinks, bed linen that didn’t feel particularly fresh and the robes as well had a slight greyish colour rather than bright white which they were meant to be. These were all minor things at the start which we didn’t even mention to each other but did notice.
We then had our first night at the cocktail bar where our drink was served by the lovely barman (very polite and smily) - as we were drinking we saw a huge rat run across the terrace - we decided it was an island and maybe this is normal (although we really weren’t happy about it). We then were dining within the restaurant and again a huge rat was running towards the table. For us, this is not ok. We asked to move tables as we saw a rat and the waiters barely acknowledged it - didn’t offer any apology and then proceeded to avoid our table for the rest of the night. We informed the manager the next day who assured us he was aware and the rat had been caught, and to “give it a chance”. We weren’t offered so much as a complimentary drink. After dining in the restaurant again the second night and again seeing a rat - for us it was time to check out. Not only is it unpleasant seeing rodents running around while eating but I would say it’s a hygiene issue and makes me question the cleanliness of the kitchen and the safety of the food.
The only concession we were offered was to not pay for the remaining nights that we would not be staying for.
Really disappointing. On hindsight some things we would add about the whole experience:
- Not a 5 star in terms of food, service or cleanliness
- Staff really hit and miss - some very friendly some really rude and unhelpful
- Rooms didn’t feel clean
- Food was average - nothing felt fresh including breakfast
- Quite stingey with water - water not replaced within our room (had to ask for it)
We are now staying at a different hotel and haven’t seen one rat, so don’t think this is “just an island thing” as the manager stated. The service and food are also worlds apart which has really solidified that our review of 20 degres sud as completely justified - not a 5 star experience whatsoever.From€441

After a wonderful 14-day holiday in Mauritius, it was a break. You can only find a low-cost place in the local area to prepare for long-term adherence. The level of the hotel is like home, but with kitchen and living room. The boss is Dutch and fat. The proprietress is a local black man. The two stayed in the hotel. For the first time, they forgot to buy salt for cooking, so they asked them to solve it. The rooms are cleaned twice a week and the facilities are average. The last time I left was at 11pm. I discussed with the boss and checked out at 6pm. I agreed very easily. Oh, there are two very small swimming pools in the hotel. The place is hard to find, there are buses on the road, but I haven't. I tried to go out once on foot. Although this is a good community by local standards, it still feels very deserted, especially at night. Finally rented a car.From€74

There is golf but I didn't experience it, and I didn't want to spend money on the spa. Except that the Chinese restaurant was a bit shabby, everything else was perfect. I only stayed for three days and didn't have the barbecue buffet, which was a bit regrettable, but everything else was really perfect. |28.14km from city centerCheck in was hectic. There were so many guests checking in and waiting in such a small space. We checked in at 3 pm but the room wasn’t ready until 3.45 pm. We got to the room and found out that they upgraded us (without telling us). The upgraded room was a big suite which was very nice but it was on the ground floor. We booked a junior suite balcony which is upstairs (we prefer upstairs as more privacy and better view) we had to ask to move to the type of room that we actually booked for! (What a waste of time for everyone) the room was very beautiful and comfortable and we LOVED the balcony. We love le Morne beach the water is so clear with different shades of blue but here we find the beach to be a bit too wide so you are a bit far from the sea (we stayed at another hotel in Le morne and we found there we were closer to the see with better view of Le Morne) Plenty of available sun beds. We didn’t like the pools so didn’t go in. Breakfast was disappointing compared to the price we pay. Service was not bad but not great. Overall, it was an ok stay.

We had dinner in a Japanese restaurant, really liked it. Didn't like that random people were walking around the hotel, we didn't see any security, and if there was, they didn't pay attention to it. Strangers came up to the sun loungers, went inside, took a shower near the pool, probably could have gone into the restaurant, because there was no one at the entrance, no one asked anything. Once they brought us a bill written out for our room the day before, without a signature. We said that it wasn't our bill, they calmly removed it, probably not the first time.

The only thing to consider is that you definitely need to rent a car here, because taxis are expensive and take a long time to wait. But we rented a car, so everything was great.
I played golf on the local course, and my wife and I also went to the spa, where Kevina and Sweta gave us a very good massage.
There are a lot of small lizards on the territory, but this is a typical story for Mauritius, there are a number of insects that the staff actively fights, and at breakfast you can be bothered by rather impudent sparrows. But the hotel was so good that we did not pay attention to these little things.
