Booked this hotel due to a day trip to Tetayama Alpine Route tour as early meeting at 5:40am at the Nagano station is the closest to this hotel. Located just right besides Nagano Station! There’s also a direct link from level2 into the mall, super convenient. Room view is fantastic and everything was perfect for my 2nights stay, and catch the Shinkansen back to Tokyo is indeed super convenient! Highly recommended.

First off, the location is incredibly convenient. It's quite close to the Zenkoji Exit of JR Nagano Station. From there, if you're heading to Togakushi, you can buy bus tickets at a small shop located at Platform 7 in front of JR Nagano Station. For Zenkoji Temple, you can either walk or take a bus from Platform 1. A taxi to Zenkoji would cost between 1300-2000 yen. As for the hotel facilities, they're perfect, except for the rooms being a bit small. The front desk on the first floor offers complimentary coffee and juice, and the coffee beans are excellent. From 9:30 PM to 11:00 PM, they serve free soy sauce ramen. The rooftop onsen is wonderfully relaxing, and they even provide ice cream and Yakult. There's a 7-Eleven right next to the hotel. Plus, the hotel doesn't look old at all. Highly recommend for a stay in Nagano.

First of all, the two staff at the check-in counter showed a very strong sense of job burnout on their faces, and the whole check-in process was not very pleasant. However, the next morning during check-out, the ladies at the counter were very professional and everything felt fine. After entering the room, I found it to be very stuffy and hot. When I turned on the air conditioning, it was only heating. Since the weather outside was quite cool, I understand that the system is centrally controlled and set to heating. I then tried opening the window, but it could only be opened a small amount. For some reason, no fresh air was coming in, and the room still felt very stuffy. Later, I went down to the counter (again, the same two male staff from check-in) to ask if the air conditioning could be switched to cooling, but my request was rejected. I then asked if it was possible to borrow a fan, and they refused again with a very impatient attitude. Overall, the stay was not a very good experience. The room itself was actually fine, but it was too stuffy. I hope this review can be helpful to others.

The best thing about this hotel is its incredibly convenient location. You can see the JR entrance right from your room, which is perfect for those catching early morning day trips (many tour groups meet right by the JR ticket gates). Plus, when you return in the evening, you're right by all the restaurants at the JR station. The room itself is quite small, but the breakfast spread is excellent.

Excellent hotel with a superb location! It's literally a 2-minute walk from the station, which is incredibly convenient if you're arriving from Tokyo. Right next to the station, there's also a bus terminal for trips to the Snow Monkeys or various ski resorts. The hotel itself is very clean, and the room was even more spacious than other business hotels I've stayed in. The service is top-notch. Everything you need is provided; you can pick up toiletries at the reception downstairs, and even pajamas on your floor! The view from the window of the city and mountains is stunning. The hotel entrance is next to Lawson. You'll need to go up to the 5th floor for reception, and then there's a separate elevator for the guest floors.

The location is superb as its just infront of Nagano Station. Room was fine but a bit outdated but still acceptable. The local Japanese staff was really friendly and helpful but the Indian/Bangladeshi guy who was at the receptionist was cocky. We asked whats the nearby attraction places we could go while waiting for the check-in time (because he did not allow early check-in, which still understandable) but he simply said, ‘you can go to the infomation counter at Nagano station’ Bruh???? What’s wrong with you? Who hurt you, brother? Hence, i cant really appreciate his service, but the older Japanese guy was really friendly and tried to help even he was not really fluent in English but i still appreciate his effort. Oh btw, there is no free parking for guests. You will need to park it somewhere else nearby the hotel.

The hotel looks old and isn't particularly striking from the street. However, the Japanese are incredibly meticulous with cleaning, so it's impeccably clean inside. The location is also super convenient (there's a great ramen place in the next building). You'll even find some retro features, like a two-handle faucet and an old TV – very authentic. My only minor complaint is that I couldn't get the air conditioning to cool, only to heat.

Considering the price, I can only give it full marks. A bathtub is a must-have for me, so getting two nights for just over 400 yen (which is incredibly cheap) was a great deal. The tub is small, fitting a maximum of three people, but during off-peak hours, you can have it all to yourself. It's very close to Nagano Station, right across from the exit. You can walk to Zenko-ji Temple. Taking the JR train to Ueda to see things related to Sanada Yukimura is also very convenient. The only downside was seeing a notice that a lost room key would cost 9,000 yen – that's almost as much as the two-night stay itself...!

I used hot springs late at night, but I responded politely at midnight! Since I live in the city, it was the first time for the Yakimochi family to see nebula like the Milky Way with the naked eye, and I was impressed with all my friends who stayed there ...! (The photos taken with an amateur smartphone camera are so much more reflective of nebula ... !!) I saw a signboard of the mountains on the way to the Yakimochiya, so I thought it was a land with the legend of the mountains. However, there was a legendary book of the land and the mountain in the room, and I felt the attitude of cherishing the legend and culture of the region, and I was very impressed by myself who liked legends. When Abu got into the car on my way home and I was in a big panic, I was really grateful that the nice staff found Abu with great insight and drove me out with an electric racket. It was. It was really helpful. I don't usually do much kuchikomi, but I wrote it because it was a very nice inn. I want to go play again. Recommended for those who want to spend a relaxing time in the quiet mountains and see the starry sky that appears in the picture book! Thank you very much!

Room is small and toilet is squeezy, but still decent for a short stay. There is a Shampoo Bar at the reception to pick up stoiletries. Breakfast is good, the complimentary soba noodles on selected weekday nights is also great. Nice view from the 10th floor, and also free space for customers to chill during the day. Matsuya Ryokan is located inside the Niomon Gate of Zenko-ji Temple. It has an excellent geographical location and is just a few steps from Zenko-ji Temple. The front of the hotel is small, but the inside is a different world, very deep and open. The room we stayed in was half Japanese and half Western. When we opened the window, we could see the statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva and the street scene along the street. The hotel has a hot spring bath and a Japanese restaurant. The food is very delicious and full. The proprietress is kind and the waiters are polite. It is very comfortable and cozy. It is said that this traditional inn has been run by the Suzuki family for six generations. It is very historical. When traveling to Japan, you should stay in this traditional inn to experience it. Although the price is a bit expensive, it is really worth the money.

It's cheap and good for the price. You can walk from the station. The facility is old, so I feel like I'm using the water while repairing it. This place is ~5mins walk from Zenkoji temple. neighborhood is peaceful at night. Shoes to be removed outside the accommodation. Rooms are on the 2nd floor so you'll have to carry your luggage up (there's no lift). Room (with window) is huge. You'll have to head downstairs to use the shared toilet and shared onsen (no toilet inside the room). We were only allowed 30mins of onsen time for 2 pax - couples weren't allowed to use the onsen concurrently so we had to go one after another (i'm not sure if the instructions got lost in translation..). Felt very rushed so i didnt really get to enjoy the onsen experience, but overall was nice and clean. Interesting 6.30am tour around the area and within the temple itself, followed by a simple vegetarian breakfast (porridge with omakase-styled sides with miso soup) back at the accommodation. The morning tour lasted from 6.30am - 8.30am. The accommodation provided a fleece blanket to each pax to bring to Zenkoji temple to keep us warm during the morning praying ceremony. We went on 30 Dec and it was SO COLD. Overall interesting experience but accommodation price is pretty steep IMO.

Here’s a polished review you can post for Nagano Plaza Hotel: --- I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the team at Nagano Plaza Hotel, especially Ms. Omi Hikaru. Despite my late check-in at around 10+ PM, she went the extra mile to warmly greet me and ensure that my room arrangement was smooth and comfortable. What truly touched me was her thoughtful initiative after learning that I had to leave early for a day tour and needed to be at Nagano Station by 0640 hrs. She kindly prepared and packed breakfast for me in advance so that I would not miss my meal before the trip. Such genuine hospitality, attentiveness, and dedication deserve to be highly recognised and commended. Small actions like these create unforgettable experiences for guests. It was also close to zenko Ji Temple at this price and was saved because I was able to check in late. I think it was about 10 minutes walk to zenko Ji Temple. I went in the middle of the night and in the morning, but I can go back and forth without stress. I walked from Nagano station to the inn, but I could walk without any pain. It is convenient because there is a 24-hour seven eleven in front of you across the road. There were two shower booths and we were able to enter at the same time as our friends who stayed together. There are not many toilets and washbasins, but there is no problem. I thought that the overseas elements were fashionably scattered in the bar area and the joint area, and I wanted to go abroad again early. It is a good inn with high eco consciousness that can collect and donate the case of disposable contact lens. The joint refrigerator was not available for infection control, but it was not a problem if it was as climate as it is now. It is also a good inn to stay in accordance with the opening of the next zenko Ji Temple.

Our stay at Shukubo Gokui was incredible. So much history and spirit, and although we spoke very little Japanese we were greeted warmly by the family. Every breakfast and dinner served was so thoughtfully presented and delicious. The onsite bath is very clean and almost like a private onsen. The room was warm and comfortable, and it was magical to be in the space with the winter snow piling outside. The location cannot be any better, very near the beautiful Chusha Shrine, on the path to the other shrines in Togakushi, within walking distance to the town Onsen and ski resort, and probably one of the closest lodgings to the bus stop. The original structure is from 1815 with thoughtful updates to make the space comfortable and warm. That foreigners and visitors are allowed to stay at Shokubo Gokui that has been so thoughtfully cared for by the family for years is incredibly special, an experience we will remember for a long time. There is no bathing in the hotel. The hot spring is in a large covered tub. There is no heating in the shower room and toilet. 3) Meals: You can order them at the hotel. The boss’s skills are pretty good and delicious, but not very cheap. [Five-star recommendation] Try to avoid bringing a trolley suitcase in winter. The road is too difficult to walk. This hotel was originally a classical hotel representing Nagano. It has been rebuilt, but the staff's dignity and hospitality are as expected. On weekends, it is used as a wedding venue, so you will pass by many people dressed in flashy attire. We stayed in the cheapest room (a single room for two in the old building), so the facilities were like those of a cheap business hotel, with a combined bathroom and toilet. I guess that's to be expected for a cheap hotel. We received good service for the same price as a business hotel, so we felt good and like we got a good deal. The restaurant in the hotel is of a very high standard, and you can enjoy classic hotel cuisine at an affordable price, so we recommend using the restaurant.

GGuest UserFirst of all, the two staff at the check-in counter showed a very strong sense of job burnout on their faces, and the whole check-in process was not very pleasant. However, the next morning during check-out, the ladies at the counter were very professional and everything felt fine. After entering the room, I found it to be very stuffy and hot. Smile Hotel Nagano is a solid choice for travelers looking for a convenient and affordable stay in Nagano. One of its biggest advantages is the location — the hotel is just a short walk from Nagano Station, making it very easy to access transportation, restaurants, and shops. The staff are frequently praised for being friendly, polite, and helpful. Many guests mention that the service is welcoming and professional, which creates a comfortable atmosphere throughout the stay. In terms of cleanliness, the hotel generally performs well. Rooms are described as clean and tidy, with basic amenities provided. However, the hotel is somewhat older, and some guests note that the furniture and facilities can feel a bit dated.

You will need to park it somewhere else nearby the hotel.

the location is outstanding near zenkoji. It is a small private house renovated by private houses and merchants. It is very cheap for the location. It is enough for a man's solo trip, but it is recommended for young people.

Thank you once again to Ms. Omi Hikaru and the team for the outstanding service and kindness during my stay. ---
