I really loved staying at Hotel Tavinos Kyoto! The interior is super cute and unique, and the location is incredibly convenient for exploring Kyoto. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. I really appreciated the complimentary breakfast every morning, with bread, coffee, tea, and miso soup. The room was also surprisingly spacious. We could comfortably open two large suitcases at the same time, which was a big plus when traveling with luggage. Overall, a really fun and comfortable stay. I would definitely consider staying here again!

I am from Yangzhou, Jiangsu. Although Yangzhou is a garden city, there are many such style escape hotels in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, Hongxi Noya of Hoshino Group is definitely worth living. The overall health is very good, the facilities are well maintained and there is no musty smell. That is, all the windows can be wiped clean. This time I checked in in the evening. When I took a taxi, I saw the sunset of Lushan, which was a value-added item. The reception staff was very polite and welcoming. At night, the girl was invited to drive us to the hotel entrance. This road was too standard, almost standing on the mountain, and there was a feeling of adventure. When I checked out, I felt the ship of Hoshino. By the way, I recommend the dyeing workshop and Zhai Pavilion are diagonally opposite. If you like the scenery, it is worth seeing.

After exiting Kyoto Station Central Gate, I first snapped a picture of Kyoto Tower, then turned right and walked straight down the road for about 20 meters. The hotel was directly across the intersection. The transportation is incredibly convenient. Breakfast was decent with a good variety. All the hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful! Even though I don't speak English or Japanese, they quickly got me checked in using a translator! The hotel is very clean and offers a peaceful retreat despite being centrally located. Excellent! I used to always stay on the Hachijo-guchi side, but from now on, this will be my go-to hotel!

The location is good, and the room is decorated in a retro style. However, the room had a strong damp smell when I first checked in. There were many buttons for the shower, which made it a bit difficult to use; the water kept turning off, and I had to press them again – maybe I just didn't know how to use them properly… Also, on my first night, I left a vacuum-sealed comforter on the wardrobe (which I hadn't touched), and it suddenly fell off during the night, giving me a fright. The breakfast was quite nice. Overall, it was pretty good.

I had a great stay at this hotel, especially as a manga fan. The room was clean, and I received fresh towels every day. Amenities such as toiletries could be picked up from the reception area, which was very convenient. The hotel also provides complimentary drinks 24/7, including water, coffee, and tea. There is a bus stop directly in front of the hotel with buses that go straight to Kyoto Station, and the nearest subway station is about a 10-minute walk away. The famous Nishiki Market is around a 20-25 minute walk from the hotel, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. There is also a convenience store right next to the hotel and a supermarket within a short walking distance, making it very easy to grab snacks, drinks, or anything else you might need. Popular attractions such as Nijō Castle and Kyoto Imperial Palace are also within walking distance. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kyoto.

Because our flight arrived late at Kansai, I chose the Almont Hotel which is close to Kyoto Station, and it turned out to be a very wise decision. We arrived at 1 AM, and the underpass from the bus stop through Kyoto Station was already closed, so we had to walk around from outside, which took about ten minutes. There was a young man at the front desk who spoke Chinese, making check-in very easy. The lobby is spacious and comfortable, and the self-service amenities downstairs are very comprehensive – you could say they have everything you need. Compared to the hotel we stayed at later in Osaka, this one was such great value. It might not be the most convenient if you're heading to downtown shopping malls, but I think taking public transport is also very quick. The bus stop for Sanzen-in Temple is less than a ten-minute walk away, and Yodobashi Camera is also super close and walkable. There's a convenience store right opposite, making it super easy to grab double skin milk.

The hotel is nested in a quiet corner, within walking distance of Sagaogurayama Tabuchiyamacho. Im however a bit disappointed with the limited facilites it offered when compared to the price we paid. We stayed in the Tsukinone Twin Room which is on the third floor of the building. The view is pleasant. The room is of decent size. Yet there were no public onsens. We need to pay YEN5000 for 45 minutes and there are only 2 private onsens. For more luxurious rooms with private onsen, the one I visited was on the ground level with no views as it were by the pathway to the reception , separated by wooden planks. We paid around Yen5000 for the breakfast in the hotel, Both western and japanese breakfasts were offered. We tried both. It is of standard. The 4 different juices presented on the top of the bento box was impressive. The vaccinity is pleasant. We could walk to the train station, the tourist rown area , the nearby parks and the world heritage sites. Nice area .

As an Amanjunkie, it's not just love at first sight; I genuinely adore the hotel's location, design, and ambiance – it truly didn't disappoint. Every corner of the hotel and every detail in the room's layout is perfect for an Amanjunkie like me, and the quality of the toiletries is outstanding. The restaurant is beautiful and offers a happy hour with complimentary drinks and snacks. While the selection isn't vast, with such a perfect atmosphere, who really cares? It's also worth mentioning that the hotel boasts a stunning indoor and outdoor hot spring, complete with a beautifully designed small lounge area – simply flawless. Compared to other Aman properties, though, I personally wouldn't recommend this one for a first-time Aman guest.

The front desk staff were very polite, but it seemed there weren't any Chinese-speaking staff. The hotel feels a bit old, and it seems to cater more to local Japanese guests rather than mainland Chinese tourists. It's a bit far from Kamo River, and it's about a 2km walk back from the shopping street. It's quite close to the subway station (and two lines intersect there), but in Kyoto, it's generally more convenient to take the bus. Next time, I might choose a hotel with more bus stops right outside. Also, there's no washing machine or laundry room, which is quite inconvenient for extended stays. The water dispenser and ice machine on our floor were also broken... I feel like the facilities could be greatly improved. The onsen (hot spring bath) is small and gets very crowded; the women's bath was almost always full at every time of day. It's like no one wants to shower in their own room's bathtub; everyone prefers the public bath for convenience.

This branded hotel in Kyoto offers great value for money. Kyoto is home to many luxury hotels like Aman, Capella, and Park Hyatt, which can be quite pricey and are better suited for a staycation to truly immerse oneself in Kyoto's culture. For this one-night stay, I chose the Westin. It's a large, established five-star hotel. Although it's older, all the details are still very well-maintained. The hotel is within walking distance of Nanzen-ji Temple, and a short taxi ride to Kawaramachi Shijo and Kiyomizu-dera Temple. There's also a shuttle bus to Kyoto Station every hour at 10 and 40 minutes past, which is very convenient. I booked two rooms and they were assigned next to each other. They even gave us the rooms at 12 PM, and the rooms had balconies. The breakfast was plentiful and excellent, with many freshly prepared dishes. For a hotel of this caliber in Kyoto, the price is truly remarkable.

This is a budget hotel aiming for something more—and they’ve genuinely succeeded. The room was probably the smallest we’ve ever stayed in (think sleeping on a boat or in an RV), but it was spotless and well designed. Every afternoon from 3:30 to 5:30 the hotel offers a complimentary sake bar in the lobby.  They also offer an impressive selection of amenities: toothbrushes, razors, face masks, serums, bath salts, and more. Breakfast is excellent, with plenty of variety. The onsen is O.K. and alternates between men’s and women’s use. We used the laundry and it is conveniently located and inexpensive.  It rained while we were there and they offered us umbrellas. The staff are friendly and helpful, without exception. The location is fantastic—just steps from Teramachi and Nishiki Markets, an easy walk to multiple train stations, and close to both the Gion and Pontocho districts. There are countless restaurants in every direction. On one of the afternoons during our four‑night stay, the hotel even hosted a free maiko (apprentice geisha) performance in the lobby, which was beautifully done.

The room we stayed in had more of a western fee to it (a chaise lounge and a single seat instead of the traditional Japanese table). Regardless, the room was very pretty with traditional Japanese wall paper, blinds and bathroom. The blinds were a tiny bit spotted with stains especially near the furniture which we overlooked, but the amenities were plentiful and offered in the room. The beds were extremely comfortable and chargers for phones were made readily available. Very nice to melt away in bed after a long day without needing to unpack chargers. The shared baths were also beautiful, large frosted glass surrounded the bath with an outdoor section that offered more of a nature environment. Since this is exclusive to guests there were times where I was there all by myself for a few minutes which brought deep appreciation. I did not indulge in the hotels food offerings, and nearby places closed around 11pm so nothing to eat until the morning when we stayed. We found delicious bites and a fair at a nearby temple/park in the morning and indulged in fresh sushi quick bites before heading to our next destination.

A trip to Arashiyama with my elderly mother during the spring cherry blossom season. It had been a while since I had stayed at a traditional inn. We stayed here for one night. It had a hot spring, a good location, and included dinner and breakfast. The food was delicious. - Bamboo shoot rice and firefly squid tempura for dinner... The portions were large, but it was a pain to finish it all at the end, which was disappointing, even though it was delicious. - The breakfast was perfect in both quantity and quality. The facilities: - The guest rooms are old, but well kept. - The open-air bath on the top floor was pleasant. I think the open-air bath needs to be cleaned and maintained a little better. The inn's staff are close to each other, so you can get a glimpse of how well they work. I hope that the inn will continue to be an easy place to work for both the staff who have been contributing for many years and the new staff. It was an inn that I would like to stay at again. (Next time, I might skip lunch just to have dinner.) Thank you very much for this opportunity.

It was extremely hot during our stay in Kyoto. Fortunately, the hotel is located right next to Kyoto Station, which made getting around much easier and helped us save energy in the intense heat. We chose to pay extra for larger rooms, and they were spacious and comfortable. Since we had a late evening flight, we paid around JP¥14,800 to extend one room until 6:00 pm for a late check-out. While it was convenient, we felt JP¥14,800 was quite expensive for just a few extra hours. One thing we found surprising was that hotel guests still had to pay extra JP ¥1,000 per person to use the swimming pool. We thought this was rather unusual for a hotel of this standard.

I love how clean the hotel is. The interior room design and the advanced toilets were all brilliant. My family and I got the triple room (with 3 beds) and it did not feel cramped at all. The air conditioning and lighting as well as alarms could all be controlled through their iPad. They have daily room cleaning and metal bottles, tea bags, mugs, kettles and a blow dryer. The hotel is also in the downtown location, very convenient to get to popular places. Lastly I love how eco friendly the hotel seems. I am a person who loves to prioritize green. This hotel seems to as well. If I ever come back to Kyoto, I will choose this again.

We decided to book Nogha whilst we were in Kyoto so we could relax a little more than in previous locations. We opted for a bigger room to have some space and it didn't disappoint. After extensive research on various social media and travel apps, I chose this hotel, and my experience far exceeded expectations – it was truly worth it. The airport/station transfer was convenient, and the front desk staff provided excellent service, making me feel right at home. The room was spacious, and all amenities were exceptionally complete. The hotel's location is also superb; it's quiet at night, and various attractions are within walking distance, just across the street from the luxurious Capella. The public bath was a delightful surprise, much cleaner and more professional than many hot spring resorts in China. A soak before bed truly helped me recover and recharge. Regarding some reviews mentioning preferential treatment towards white guests and ***, I didn't experience any of that, except for one odd instance during breakfast where my half-eaten meal was cleared away prematurely. We are highly recommend to stay in this hotel, while the location, room size, cleanliness, design, and service are excellent. Moreover, the breakfast style is enough to choose, you can either enjoy in western or Japanese style breakfast per day. And we have encountered a traffic jam issue when we are coming back from Nara Station, something bad happened and the train was suddenly stopped. So we cannot be able to back to hotel on time for retrieving our packed luggages in room. We called to the hotel and explained this unexpected situation. The staffs show understand and offered free late check out one more hour for us, we know it is not easy to have free late check out at Japan but they did treat us so well. With luggage, this hotel was a convenient ten minute walk from Kyoto Station. The room was neat and clean and very quiet (I was on the side away from the street); the pillow was very firm. The breakfast buffet was busy with a waiting line, but moved quickly, and it offered a large assortment of fresh and tasty options for all palates. I paid for a room with breakfast, but had to leave early on departure day, so was disappointed I was unable to use the breakfast coupon. A helpful assistant at the front desk spent time trying to figure out if I could order a box breakfast or get a refund for the missed meal, but neither was available.

Extremely satisfied with this hotel. Traveling with elderly parents and children, we landed in Osaka and headed straight to Kyoto, so we chose a hotel within walking distance from the station, making it easy to manage our luggage. It's only a three-minute walk from the train station (you can see it right after exiting and turning right). The room, while not huge, was incredibly cozy and didn't feel cheap like some budget hotels. The staff were very friendly; my partner loves tea and would ask for extra water daily, which they always provided for free. During our stay, we rarely saw other Chinese guests; it was mostly Western and local guests, and breakfast was always quiet. There are tons of restaurants near the hotel (a sushi place within a five-minute walk was super delicious and great value for money). Plus, there's Isetan department store right next to the station for shopping – it couldn't be more convenient! A taxi from the hotel to Kiyomizu-dera Temple cost about 1800 JPY, and to Takashimaya, it was roughly the same price. At 9 PM, you can enter the station and take the escalator to the top for a free panoramic view of Kyoto's nightscape. All in all, I'm very satisfied and would definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit.

It is a very nice hotel with attentive staff! The hotel is about a 7 minutes walk from Kyoto station. It’s a very convenient place to stay if you’re catching an early train or arriving from a late one. I don’t know if I’d recommend it for a longer stay since the area is quite boring. There’s plenty of restaurants and shops within the station but they’re very crowded and more expensive. It’s also quite far away from the main sights of Kyoto, so for a longer stay I’d recommend staying downtown. The included room amenities are good but nothing special. There’s shaving kits, towels, haircare, skincare, tea, water, and yukata robes (the robes are not souvenirs). There’s a pool, a spa area, and a restaurant, which all have an additional fee. My room was clean, but I found some scuff marks on the walls and a crack in my bathtub. From Kyoto station you can see Kyoto tower but it’s not an amazing sight hahaha. It takes about 25 minutes to downtown Kyoto from the hote

We had a wonderful stay at Dhawa Yura Kyoto and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The location is excellent, right next to Sanjo Station and within easy walking distance of Gion, Yasaka Shrine, Nishiki Market and many of Kyoto's main attractions. It made getting around the city incredibly easy. The hotel itself is modern, stylish and immaculately clean. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, quiet and a welcome place to relax after long days exploring Kyoto in the summer heat. One of the highlights was the breakfast. There was an excellent selection of both Japanese and Western dishes, with fresh fruit, eggs, rice, grilled fish, noodles, miso soup, vegetables, pastries, juices and good coffee and English breakfast tea. Everything was fresh and well presented, and it gave us a great start before our early morning adventures. The staff were consistently warm, welcoming and professional throughout our stay. We particularly appreciated being able to hire bicycles from the hotel, which allowed us to cycle to Kiyomizu-dera at sunrise before the crowds arrived. It became one of the highlights of our entire Japan trip. Overall, Dhawa Yura offered the perfect combination of comfort, service and location. If you're looking for a boutique hotel in Kyoto that's close to everything while still feeling peaceful and relaxing, this is an excellent choice. Highly recommended.

This is a venerable super five-star hotel with an excellent location, though it's a bit out of the city center, making it quite inconvenient for getting to sights, attractions, and dining. However, the hotel shuttle bus to Kyoto Station is a lifesaver. The hotel was renovated a few years ago, but it still retains its 40+ years of history and luxurious decor, now blended with modern, clean design elements. Charging facilities and hygiene are excellent. I would definitely stay here again!

I stayed here 10 years ago. The hotel looked exactly the same. It is a little bit on the old school side, but everything is clean and impeccable. The first day I arrived I had a stomach issue and the hotel was really kind and helped send fresh ginger tea up to my room and requested. They went out out of their way to find me fresh ginger. The second day I strained my back from lifting heavy luggage. Very beautiful, hotel architecture is so unique - I love its old world charm, classic wall paper, large rooms and separate vanity area from the bathroom. It’s also conveniently located close to the convention centre with the mrt easily accessible to get you to various places. The staffs were super friendly and accommodating as well. We strolled around the nearby park, met friendly locals and visited the lake and hilltop cherry blossoms. Would definitely come back again.

First and foremost, I want to single out a staff member Suga for her outstanding hospitality that turned our nice stay into an unforgettable one. Suga greeted us every day with a warm, genuine sweet smile and was very attentive to the requests we had which included local recommendations, transit guidance, and help sorting out travel logistics, Suga was super helpful, resourceful, and all with a great positive vibe. She made us feel genuinely welcome and cared for throughout our visit. The hotel’s location struck the perfect balance between peace and accessibility. Tucked in a calm residential neighbourhood, we slept soundly every night. Even better, the surrounding streets are lined with an amazing selection of local eateries: traditional kaiseki, ramen, izakayas and pizza, so we didn't have to travel far for delicious meals. Major subway and train stations are only a 5–10 minute walk away. Hands, Daimaru are about 15 minutes leisurely walk away. Nishiki Market and Gion are also a nice 30 to 45 mins walk. There is a 7-Eleven just a 2-minute stroll from the hotel entrance where we bought a lot of yummy yogurts and cup noodles. The room is big in Japan's standards, bed & pillows are nice and clean. Their bathroom is immense! My daughter and I showered together and there's plenty room left! Their breakfast selection is not a lot but it's good quality - offers Western and local Japanese selections. If you’re planning a trip to Kyoto and want a clean, conveniently located hotel with heartwarming, top-tier service, book Hotel Nikko Princess Kyoto without a second thought. I noticed this hotel's location on my last visit to Kyoto. It's incredibly convenient for Eikando, Philosopher's Path, Ginkakuji, Honen-in, Anrakuji, Shinnyodo, Eishoin, Chion-in, and Shoren-in – absolutely the best choice for autumn leaf viewing. The hotel is small yet exquisite, offering excellent tea sets and tea. It boasts a beautiful garden shared with Okazaki Shrine's別邸 (detached residence). The hotel facilities are also good (though unfortunately, no buckwheat pillows, and the air conditioning temperature was a bit uncomfortable and hard to adjust). The lounge has a nice view, serving only alcohol, coffee, and tea. I ordered a chestnut cake. The restaurant service was polite but lacked warmth. There's a large supermarket and a bus stop nearby, but restaurants are a bit further away, so I didn't go out in the evenings.

I'd recommend taking a taxi to and from the hotel, otherwise it's hard to manage luggage on the crowded public buses. When I visited, the Gion Festival was happening, and public transport in the area was mostly shut down, so I had to rely on walking everywhere. The environment is beautiful and peaceful, a quiet oasis in the bustling city. They do offer Chinese-speaking staff, but it's hit or miss; I didn't encounter any during my check-in, though there was a lovely lady in the restaurant who spoke fluent Chinese. Breakfast is relatively extensive, but it's not a pure buffet. There's a menu, though it's not complicated. They usually ask what you'd like to drink first, then take your order. For first-time guests, it's a good idea to ask a Chinese-speaking staff member to explain the menu in detail.

Traveling during the off-season, the value for money was excellent. I always choose Mitsui Garden hotels when I come to Japan, and this new branch has a fantastic location. It's about a 7-minute walk to Nishiki Market, and there are many charming little shops along the nearby streets, well worth exploring. The hotel facilities are very new, and the restaurant has a cheese workshop, offering fresh cheese daily – it's truly amazing! Coincidentally, there was a charity art exhibition for children with disabilities on the first floor, which shows a great sense of social responsibility. Right across the street is the Kyoto Art Museum, a beautiful old building with a lot of character.

After landing in Osaka, I took the Hello Kitty train directly to Kyoto Station. From there, I transferred to the Karasuma Line for two stops and exited from exit 4 (which has an elevator 🛗). Upon exiting, there's a 7-Eleven on the left, and the hotel is just a 2-minute walk further, up a long hallway to the second floor. The service in Kyoto is always excellent. I was able to find a good price before the May Day holiday. I've stayed at Mitsui before, but the location here is even better, with bus stops closer. Kiyomizu-dera, Arashiyama, and Kinkaku-ji are all just one stop away. The breakfast is traditional Kyoto style, light and delicious, and the elderly ladies serving were very polite. The front desk also provides a wide variety of toiletries.
