I initially booked for only two nights before my trip, and later when I wanted to extend my stay, I found the price had doubled, which I regretted. However, the actual experience was excellent. The hotel's hot spring was free to use and very relaxing. The complimentary matcha in the lobby was available anytime and was a lovely touch. The breakfast spread over three days was never the same, with a rich variety of seafood, hot dishes, and fruits that were all delicious. Looking back, even though the room rate increased, considering all these amenities included, it was still quite reasonable. Next time, I'll book for a longer duration in advance to avoid similar issues.

We enjoyed the stay in Hotel TAVINOS Kyoto! Price is very reasonable, and there is a convenient store-7-11 just at level 1 of the hotel! Hotel provides place for you dining as well ! However the laundry room is always full and the room is the size what you see from the picture. Location is near the bus stop and a famous ramen store too!

I've stayed at this hotel twice now, and its location right inside Kyoto Station is incredibly convenient. You don't really hear any train noise either, which is great. The rooms and overall environment are excellent. My only minor complaint is that the front desk staff seemed a bit perfunctory.

I am from Yangzhou, Jiangsu. Although Yangzhou is a garden city, there are many such style escape hotels in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, Hongxi Noya of Hoshino Group is definitely worth living. The overall health is very good, the facilities are well maintained and there is no musty smell. That is, all the windows can be wiped clean. This time I checked in in the evening. When I took a taxi, I saw the sunset of Lushan, which was a value-added item. The reception staff was very polite and welcoming. At night, the girl was invited to drive us to the hotel entrance. This road was too standard, almost standing on the mountain, and there was a feeling of adventure. When I checked out, I felt the ship of Hoshino. By the way, I recommend the dyeing workshop and Zhai Pavilion are diagonally opposite. If you like the scenery, it is worth seeing.

After exiting Kyoto Station Central Gate, I first snapped a picture of Kyoto Tower, then turned right and walked straight down the road for about 20 meters. The hotel was directly across the intersection. The transportation is incredibly convenient. Breakfast was decent with a good variety. All the hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful! Even though I don't speak English or Japanese, they quickly got me checked in using a translator! The hotel is very clean and offers a peaceful retreat despite being centrally located. Excellent! I used to always stay on the Hachijo-guchi side, but from now on, this will be my go-to hotel!

The location is good, and the room is decorated in a retro style. However, the room had a strong damp smell when I first checked in. There were many buttons for the shower, which made it a bit difficult to use; the water kept turning off, and I had to press them again – maybe I just didn't know how to use them properly… Also, on my first night, I left a vacuum-sealed comforter on the wardrobe (which I hadn't touched), and it suddenly fell off during the night, giving me a fright. The breakfast was quite nice. Overall, it was pretty good.

I had a great stay at this hotel, especially as a manga fan. The room was clean, and I received fresh towels every day. Amenities such as toiletries could be picked up from the reception area, which was very convenient. The hotel also provides complimentary drinks 24/7, including water, coffee, and tea. There is a bus stop directly in front of the hotel with buses that go straight to Kyoto Station, and the nearest subway station is about a 10-minute walk away. The famous Nishiki Market is around a 20-25 minute walk from the hotel, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. There is also a convenience store right next to the hotel and a supermarket within a short walking distance, making it very easy to grab snacks, drinks, or anything else you might need. Popular attractions such as Nijō Castle and Kyoto Imperial Palace are also within walking distance. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kyoto.

This hotel is super convenient, right by Kyoto Station, just a 5-minute walk. Plus, there's a Lopia and Takashimaya nearby, which is a bonus. The room itself was really new. We stayed for four nights, and on the third night, we noticed the air conditioner was leaking a bit. I looked it up online, and it seems like it might be a clogged drain pipe. We had our child with us, and I had already disinfected so many surfaces in the room with alcohol wipes, so we just decided to stick with it rather than change rooms. I'd definitely choose to stay here again on my next trip to Kyoto. I've stayed at three hotels in Kyoto, and this one offered great value for money, especially at around 450 RMB during the summer. Oh, and there are tons of great food options around Kyoto Station! Just a heads-up: avoid Touyoutei. We ordered a set meal and then a cake, and after waiting 40 minutes for the cake, it still hadn't arrived. Our little one was practically falling asleep waiting!

Excellent location in Central Kyoto, right in the heart of shopping district, plenty of food options, and a short walk to Gion on the East. Very near to Hankyu train station that goes to Osaka Umeda. Staff were so friendly, always smiling and ready to assist. Rooms on the smaller side, not sure if it's the layout that made it feel more cramped, but Japan hotel rooms are generally like that. Best thing about this hotel is the open air natural hot spring! Amazing view of the mountains and you can even see Kiyomizu Dera temple in the distance. The water temperature was also not burning hot like some other public baths. There are complimentary drinks (including alcohol) on the rooftop terrace everyday from 4.30 to 6pm. Also free drinks from coffee machine all day in the lounge. I did not take hotel breakfast as I saw it is only simple bento box instead of buffet, so you can get better food outside.

The hotel is nested in a quiet corner, within walking distance of Sagaogurayama Tabuchiyamacho. Im however a bit disappointed with the limited facilites it offered when compared to the price we paid. We stayed in the Tsukinone Twin Room which is on the third floor of the building. The view is pleasant. The room is of decent size. Yet there were no public onsens. We need to pay YEN5000 for 45 minutes and there are only 2 private onsens. For more luxurious rooms with private onsen, the one I visited was on the ground level with no views as it were by the pathway to the reception , separated by wooden planks. We paid around Yen5000 for the breakfast in the hotel, Both western and japanese breakfasts were offered. We tried both. It is of standard. The 4 different juices presented on the top of the bento box was impressive. The vaccinity is pleasant. We could walk to the train station, the tourist rown area , the nearby parks and the world heritage sites. Nice area .

As an Amanjunkie, it's not just love at first sight; I genuinely adore the hotel's location, design, and ambiance – it truly didn't disappoint. Every corner of the hotel and every detail in the room's layout is perfect for an Amanjunkie like me, and the quality of the toiletries is outstanding. The restaurant is beautiful and offers a happy hour with complimentary drinks and snacks. While the selection isn't vast, with such a perfect atmosphere, who really cares? It's also worth mentioning that the hotel boasts a stunning indoor and outdoor hot spring, complete with a beautifully designed small lounge area – simply flawless. Compared to other Aman properties, though, I personally wouldn't recommend this one for a first-time Aman guest.

The front desk staff were very polite, but it seemed there weren't any Chinese-speaking staff. The hotel feels a bit old, and it seems to cater more to local Japanese guests rather than mainland Chinese tourists. It's a bit far from Kamo River, and it's about a 2km walk back from the shopping street. It's quite close to the subway station (and two lines intersect there), but in Kyoto, it's generally more convenient to take the bus. Next time, I might choose a hotel with more bus stops right outside. Also, there's no washing machine or laundry room, which is quite inconvenient for extended stays. The water dispenser and ice machine on our floor were also broken... I feel like the facilities could be greatly improved. The onsen (hot spring bath) is small and gets very crowded; the women's bath was almost always full at every time of day. It's like no one wants to shower in their own room's bathtub; everyone prefers the public bath for convenience.

This branded hotel in Kyoto offers great value for money. Kyoto is home to many luxury hotels like Aman, Capella, and Park Hyatt, which can be quite pricey and are better suited for a staycation to truly immerse oneself in Kyoto's culture. For this one-night stay, I chose the Westin. It's a large, established five-star hotel. Although it's older, all the details are still very well-maintained. The hotel is within walking distance of Nanzen-ji Temple, and a short taxi ride to Kawaramachi Shijo and Kiyomizu-dera Temple. There's also a shuttle bus to Kyoto Station every hour at 10 and 40 minutes past, which is very convenient. I booked two rooms and they were assigned next to each other. They even gave us the rooms at 12 PM, and the rooms had balconies. The breakfast was plentiful and excellent, with many freshly prepared dishes. For a hotel of this caliber in Kyoto, the price is truly remarkable.

The room amenities are good enough, and the room size is reasonable for the price. The hotel is very close to Kyoto Station, making it convenient to travel to other places. There is also a Lawson convenience store right beside the hotel. The hotel provides early baggage storage service for guests who arrive before check-in time, and luggage storage is also available on the day of check-out. The staff are helpful and friendly. The breakfast is great, and the onsen is perfect for relaxing after a long and tiring day of travelling. A few things that could improve the stay further: 1. The hairdryer could be upgraded, as the airflow is very weak. 2. The mattress and pillows could also be improved, as they seem quite worn out and have already started to sink.

This is a budget hotel aiming for something more—and they’ve genuinely succeeded. The room was probably the smallest we’ve ever stayed in (think sleeping on a boat or in an RV), but it was spotless and well designed. Every afternoon from 3:30 to 5:30 the hotel offers a complimentary sake bar in the lobby.  They also offer an impressive selection of amenities: toothbrushes, razors, face masks, serums, bath salts, and more. Breakfast is excellent, with plenty of variety. The onsen is O.K. and alternates between men’s and women’s use. We used the laundry and it is conveniently located and inexpensive.  It rained while we were there and they offered us umbrellas. The staff are friendly and helpful, without exception. The location is fantastic—just steps from Teramachi and Nishiki Markets, an easy walk to multiple train stations, and close to both the Gion and Pontocho districts. There are countless restaurants in every direction. On one of the afternoons during our four‑night stay, the hotel even hosted a free maiko (apprentice geisha) performance in the lobby, which was beautifully done.

Facilities: You have to walk through an alley to find the hotel entrance. Upon entering, you pass by the staff area. The lobby environment, facing a small courtyard, is quite pleasant. However, the quality of the Otowa Hall is mediocre. They claim to offer complimentary soft drinks and snacks, but in reality, there isn't much choice. The coffee machine area was cluttered with used coffee cups, making it look a bit dirty. Service: Hotel check-in time is 3 PM, but I arrived at 2:30 PM after some early shopping. The staff brought out some snacks and even knelt down to meticulously explain the hotel's layout and check-in procedures. Hygiene: I stayed in a Japanese-style room with a tatami mat. Overall, I was quite satisfied with the environment, but the bed sheets had a strong, stale odor. It felt like they weren't changed between guests... even perfume couldn't cover the smell. Overall, I felt this hotel prioritizes formality. The internal quality still has room for improvement!

The room we stayed in had more of a western fee to it (a chaise lounge and a single seat instead of the traditional Japanese table). Regardless, the room was very pretty with traditional Japanese wall paper, blinds and bathroom. The blinds were a tiny bit spotted with stains especially near the furniture which we overlooked, but the amenities were plentiful and offered in the room. The beds were extremely comfortable and chargers for phones were made readily available. Very nice to melt away in bed after a long day without needing to unpack chargers. The shared baths were also beautiful, large frosted glass surrounded the bath with an outdoor section that offered more of a nature environment. Since this is exclusive to guests there were times where I was there all by myself for a few minutes which brought deep appreciation. I did not indulge in the hotels food offerings, and nearby places closed around 11pm so nothing to eat until the morning when we stayed. We found delicious bites and a fair at a nearby temple/park in the morning and indulged in fresh sushi quick bites before heading to our next destination.

A trip to Arashiyama with my elderly mother during the spring cherry blossom season. It had been a while since I had stayed at a traditional inn. We stayed here for one night. It had a hot spring, a good location, and included dinner and breakfast. The food was delicious. - Bamboo shoot rice and firefly squid tempura for dinner... The portions were large, but it was a pain to finish it all at the end, which was disappointing, even though it was delicious. - The breakfast was perfect in both quantity and quality. The facilities: - The guest rooms are old, but well kept. - The open-air bath on the top floor was pleasant. I think the open-air bath needs to be cleaned and maintained a little better. The inn's staff are close to each other, so you can get a glimpse of how well they work. I hope that the inn will continue to be an easy place to work for both the staff who have been contributing for many years and the new staff. It was an inn that I would like to stay at again. The mini-fridge snacks in the room were all complimentary. You can also enjoy the hot springs for free in the evening, though I didn't get around to trying it. About 80% of the guests were Westerners, and the housekeeping staff were all from Southeast Asia. The hotel staff's attitude was excellent, which I really appreciated, but I noticed their attitude was even better towards Western guests... Most people walking around seemed to be Western tourists. The hotel isn't too far from nearby attractions; walking to Shijo and Kiyomizu-dera Temple is quite manageable. It takes a few minutes to walk to the Kamogawa River, and about ten minutes to walk to Takashimaya? Just take a walk. The variety of breakfast is incomparable to that in China. The bread is quite good. I also saw his bakery in Osaka Takashimaya. The room area is considered large in Japan, and the hygiene is also OK. Dyson hair dryer, free mask, whitening sensitive skin should be used with caution. The minibar gave a lot of small biscuits and fruits, and the taste is OK. There is no bottled water. It is said that the tap is direct drinking water and can only be boiled for drinking. The water flow of the tap is small, but the shower water pressure is enough.

It's been a while since I last visited Kyoto, and this time I stayed at the Park Hyatt. I was initially worried it might be too 'influencer-hyped,' but I ended up being extremely satisfied. The location, decor, cleanliness, and service were all impeccable. I was particularly impressed by the design and material choices – truly ingenious. Online reviews often recommended room 308 for the Ninen-zaka Suite, and I had requested it in advance. However, I was given 208 upon arrival, which was a bit disappointing at first. But after staying there, I actually felt 208 might be better for summer, offering more privacy and a balcony with pleasant greenery that was easy on the eyes. The teppanyaki was decent, nothing exceptional but perfectly fine. The Ninen-zaka Suite itself was a bit on the small side, but the comfort level was outstanding.

This hotel is in a great location nearly next to Nishiki Market. Around the hotel is very quiet. The room we received was facing the graveyard, I’m not sure why there are so many negatives reviews about it but we had no problems with it. No ****** visited us😋😅 The bed was very spacious but a little hard. The pillows were also quite hard so we woke up sore a few times… overall the room was very clean and amenities were available downstairs if needed like toothbrush or qtips. The staff were very kind and brought our luggage to our room before we arrived through luggage forwarding. After check out, they also allowed us to store it in the back for a few hours.

I happened to be there during a fireworks festival, so I extended my stay by one day. Since my two bookings were for different room types, the front desk staff told me to pack my luggage and leave it in the room before heading out to enjoy myself. The hotel staff would then take care of the room and move my luggage directly to the new room. When we returned, we just had to pick up the new key at the front desk and could check right in. I was very satisfied with this arrangement. It allowed me to go out and have fun without any worries. Thanks to the hotel for their arrangements and service.

This is my second time booking this hotel, and its location is fantastic. It's right by the Kamo River, next to Gojo Bridge, and just about a 10-15 minute walk from Kyoto's busiest area, Shijo Street, near Gion. The train station is also about the same walking distance. The hotel is very clean and convenient, and they even provide all the toiletries and skincare products, which is a nice touch.

## Amenities: The facilities are comprehensive, with a bathtub, and two washing machines and two dryers downstairs (I recommend doing laundry during off-peak hours for a better experience). Free drinking water is available, and there's even a fast ice machine! Overall, the amenities offered a great and convenient experience. ## Cleanliness: The hotel was very clean, but there was an old stain on the vanity that I tried to wipe off but couldn't remove. Other than that, everything was satisfactory. The hotel cleans every three days, starting from the day after check-in, which was fine for me. If you prefer daily cleaning, you'll need to inform the front desk. ## Environment: The overall environment is good, with typical Japanese hotel room sizes. My 26-inch suitcase could only be opened in a corner, which is probably my only regret; it felt a bit cramped even for one person. However, it was very quiet. Perhaps the guests were very considerate, as I mostly only heard conversations and doors opening in the hallway. I had a very peaceful sleep at night. ## Service: The front desk staff were all very friendly. They greeted me when I left in the morning and returned in the evening, which made me feel very much at home. ## Transportation: The location is excellent. The Shijo Takakura bus stop right outside the hotel can take you to most city attractions. The Karasuma Line and Hankyu Line stations are also very close. There's a convenience store right outside. Shijo Kawaramachi is also within walking distance, making everything very convenient.

Smile Hotel Kyoto Karasumagojo was a great budget-friendly stay in Kyoto. The location is excellent, right next to Gojo Station and within walking distance of Kyoto Station. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean, and the free coffee was a nice touch. Rooms are a bit small, but that’s common in Japan and still comfortable for a short stay. Overall, great value for money and I’d stay again.
