The hotel itself is so great! But I think I need a car to go to the hotel. The hotel does operate a car. There is also an airport pick-up service. The height is so great to see the landscape and the facilities are great. It's not cheap, but you can get the service you paid for. The exterior of the hotel also contributes to making you want to go. The rooms are spacious and wonderful. It has a large room that can accommodate 5 or 6 people and it seems to be a very good hotel for families to come and hospice.

We have stayed at Secrets Vallarta Bay for 10 days in both March 2019 and March 2020, and both times were excellent. This year, the service was even better than last year, it was amazing. Stay in a preferred room if you can. We had a personal service person Carlos Miranda assigned to us, and he checked on us multiple times per day both in person and via WhatsApp. He got us dinner recommendations and reservations, got our friend's room upgraded for us, and was one stop shopping for questions and issues. The concierge Jose Becerra was also very helpful, both via email before we arrived, and in person once we arrived. The discount golf was cheap by vacation standards. A highlight for this trip was the chef's table one night, it is a private room with glass walls in the middle of the kitchen complex. The wine steward Sergio, who we had met in the other fine dining restaurants, gave us lots of details on the wines paired with our 6 course meal. The 2 chefs brought in amazing food and answered questions about it. Can't wait to do it again! This property is a short taxi ride from airport. Maybe a 30 minute walk to get to the start of the Malecon. We like to relax at the pools most days, but one day per trip, we will walk in to Malecon, eat and drink, then taxi home.

We were nervous about traveling during a pandemic, but felt very comfortable at the resort. They were taking measures to be clean and cautious and I saw the rules being followed by the staff, and the staff ensuring guests followed as well, which was nice, and I'm sure not always easy. The lobby is stunning, and a great place to have a drink at sunset. Our first room was great, but above the lobby bar and a bit loud in the evenings for our children. The next day Jose Luis showed us a better room on the 12th floor, as well as other options. We moved and it was great. Mac gave us a complimentary late check-out so we could spend the morning at the pool and shower before our late afternoon flight home. Our girls are 4 and 6 and loved the slide at the pool and the kid’s club. Everyone was required to wear masks, both kids and staff. Many of the activities were outdoors as well, which was great. My girls can be shy, especially since they don't speak Spanish, but the girls there made them feel comfortable - Jacqueline, Lia, Naomi, Ariana, & Ettie. For me, as a mom with kids, there is nothing better then having someone wait on me and the servers at the pool were excellent. They were really on top of it. Seek out Alejandro, Miguel and Fernando. On a busy Saturday, Alejandro saw from across the pool that I had just finished my drink while he was inputting others’ drink orders and brought me a refill before I could even ask. Miguel even loosened the caps on my water bottles before handing to me, and Fernando was continually passing by to check on us. These guys really took care of us. Finally, not to be missed is the Chef's Table. Chef Marco served up 7 courses of exceptional cuisine, each course with an exciting presentation. Emilio was an excellent server. He contacted the Kid’s Club to check out our children and at the end of the evening when I picked up the girls, Chef Marco sent them out a special dessert. The two made a great team and we highly recommend requesting them for an amazing and fun Chef’s Table experience. With all the good things I have to say I only have two negatives. One is constructive criticism and the other is not in the resort’s control. The all-inclusive alcohol options were good, EXCEPT the wine. It was pretty awful. I would have appreciated a by the glass option, even if I had to pay a small upcharge. We were able to purchase wine at the Italian and French Restaurants, and the selection was good, albeit overpriced. I end up going to the Mega store about a block away in town, and buying some wine for the room, although choices there were limited. The other small negative is the rocks. The beach sand is nice, and there are colorful small rocks in the sea which are pretty, however, they really hurt your feet and ankles in the waves. I recommend water shoes at least. We travelled to Playa Punta Mita one day and loved the beach there. Now Amber was a quick drive from the airport. Combined with a direct flight, this loca

It was tricky getting into the hotel but i guess they do that for security reasons. Luckily there were guests in the lobby that let me in & used their hotel card for the elevator so i could go to the reception. The reception service was nice. I loved their gym. My room was really dirty , needed a deep cleaning since there were little hairs all over the bathroom & it stinked really bad of cigarette smoke. The stores around it & the gym make it worth it. Overall: i would come back.

I do not like the face during the times of covid! Getting in line for breakfast during covid did not make me happy. They can work a little bit more on their clothing protocols if you ask me to be honest. Rooms are so so and a little musty. Food was good I especially like the ceviche restaurant. Drinks some more top shelf some were not. They have a mojito bar that makes excellent mojitos. I suggest tipping 10 pesos or like a dollar on every drink that really helps the bartenders to be motivated to make you a special drink. My absolute favorite cocktail there is the passion fruit margarita. Ask them to make you a cocktail with no added sugar and you will be in for divine treat. Would I stay here again? I don't think so to be honest! It was hard for them to find me a room that didn't smell mildewy and a little moldy. Not overwhelmingly moldy but slightly moldy! The beach is so so there is a rock formation in front of the hotel where you can snark a little bit. I kind of like the hotel I really enjoyed the food but I don't like the phase during covid for breakfast. Sometimes also the food is a hit or a miss. Staff was very professional and helpful.

We have been back to this resort 15 times and God willing, will be back next February for #16..over the years there have been many changes, some for the better, most definitely but the privilege club only within last 3-4 years, which is good for the hotel but not the repeat customers who don't belong to this club. The service is most definitely beyond awesome..Eduardo, Gustavo, Isidro, Fausto, Pedro always smiling, Faustino, and Omar..dining staff Herman, Angel, Francisco, and Daliya the best. This year we noticed the changes, our room was newly renovated and we did not have any complaints..was always cleaned perfectly by Elena, who was always greeting us with a smile. Our fridge was always well stocked daily. The entertainment in the lobby is appreciated and well received. Front desk personnel were always willing to assist. Very small detail, the ladies washroom near the pool bar needs more timely attention. Food and location are awesome. thru the years a number of staff have left and are sorely missed..this year more than one staff shared how the new Manager, Ceasar, is well respected and also a pleasure to work with. We agree. I have read on the other reviews the naysayers complain about the smokers, my opinion is find another resort if that's a complaint..smokers are outside not inside.

Sunday March 22 was a very special day as I celebrated my 3rd Year Anniversary in Puerto Vallarta. I visited this beautiful property March 2017 for the very first time and it was here that I mare my decision to move to Puerto Vallarta. I vacationed for 4 months in 2017 at this gorgeous resort and I came back to celebrate this milestone. The day was perfect in every way.! I enjoyed the Sunday Brunch with the Mariachi and the Marimba Players. The food as very fresh and of course the service was awesome. Special kudos to Joel Jesus for being such an Amazing Mesero and taking care of all my needs. It truly was the most relaxing experience and I felt as though I as back in vacation model. I felt as though I had the entire resort to myself and the staff were so helpful and incredibly kind. I would highly recommend a visit to the lovely Spa and when you are making your plans you will want to ask Jorge Zarate to assist you. Jorge is beyond knowledgeable about all the treatments the Spa offers and he can customize the treatments to your special requests, He is incredibly kind and professional at the same time.Be sure to let him take care of your questions and concerns My Spa Therapist Daayna gave me the best spa experience I have ever had. She was professional and kind and went out of her way to provide excellent service. She gave me the best 2.5 hours of pampering that I have never had before. My day ended with a lovely dinner in the Sports Bar that was just excellent. The food is awesome and the staff are so accommodating and helpful... It was truly a day to remember and I would highly recommend coming to the Resort on ANY Sunday enjoy the Sunday Brunch and stay for the rest of the day and enjoy this lovely resort. Muchas Gracias to All The Staff during these difficult times!

The best hotel I've ever stayed at for the amazing price. There is a small restaurant next to it (you can also order their food through room service), it has excellent food, and excellent service. Plus the overall service of the hotel is top notch in my opinion... You can see the night view from my balcony one of the pics, and a friendly Iguana that was hanging out right in front of the restaurant. Definitely will Continue staying here!

Gordon Ramsey would love ripping apart this extremely poorly managed hotel that was once a beautiful elegant one. The price of the dog's stay was included in the price but than a surprise, I get a dog charge, the same price of a very good room in Bucerias .. The front desk was definitely having an OFF year. We were dis-respected and ignored upon asking a few general questions. In the morning the clerk was too busy flirting with the pastry boy for 10 minutes when I needed a bandage quickly. The HOTEL RESTAURANT was closed. How can that be when most hotels make more money from FOOD than the room charges. We were directed off site for a cup of coffee since ROOMS have a coffee maker but no coffee & filters & sugar & cream. The rooms were DIRTY. Shower scum. Moldy bedding. Iron burn on couch. Money and Dog hair behind the cushions. Tub drain 2% draining. Un-swepted stained . floors. Usually places like these are charmingly out dated but super clean. FAIL! The Swimming Pools excessive chlorine will bleach out your tan. When we went for a swim, the resort next door Mosquito Fogged both resorts with toxic thick pesticide smoke which sent the security running looking for the fire. We had non stop coughing after this but knew for sure it was good to kill off the DENGUE plague in this part of MEXICO. Google that. The smell of RAW fermenting sewage blowing in under our door from the rear staircases was evil! They need better covers ( not safe for kids ) on their holding tanks. Seriously?! at this hotel price range! They are painting up the exterior of the place but slopping the paint everywhere outside. This was a lovely classic MEXICO Hotel with beautiful wood work. Now I would not pay 300 peso ( $21 CDN $14 USA ) for this nightmare. The pigeon noise... air conditioning noise... highway noise... carnival noise is not amusing. We should have finished a bottle of Tequila each to sleep soundly! Finally.... the whole Bay is the 2nd most polluted waters in MEXICO with a full 200 ppm count of bacteria. Eventually they will process the 300,000 toilet flushes a day of solid waste dissolved in the Pacific Ocean. Try vacationing in Sayuita up the coast with the hippies and with much much cleaner waters. The good was the poor TV channel selection that forced us to turn it off and enjoy Valentines Day in the vast spacious rooms. REFUND MY MONEY! $144.19 CDN 1,969.30 MEX ( File: 93576 ) Please call me when you finish improving your Hotel back to the Splendor it once was. 001.250.895.1502

We arrived on Feb 29 with a standard room which was to have AC & balcony. We were early so had to wait until 4pm. We stayed here 3 years ago so knew what are room should be like. They took us to our room & as soon as they opened door I knew this was economy room. No AC, no balcony. We immediately said no & went to front desk. They then gave us a different room with AC but no balcony. Unacceptable as our Air Transat booking included balcony. Back to front desk. The young guy at the front desk who I believe was named Edeardo was very understanding & said come see him tomorrow morning & he would look after us. The next day I went to see him & he gave us a lovely room on the 5th floor with ocean view. I am not sure how you book an oceanview room as it seems like economy, standard & superior rooms are all over the hotel. Some facing street & some facing street side. Not sure I would stay there again for this reason. I don't mind paying extra for oceanview but not sure how you book this. We paid for the breakfast buffet option & it wasn't outstanding but decent enough & convenient. We went out a few times outside the hotel for breakfast. The location of the Tropicana is excellent for a wide variety of restaurants & bars within walking distance. 2 very nice unheated pools. They were cold getting in but nice once you were in. A negative about the pool area is the number of people saving chairs early in the morning then not showing up until later in the afternoon. There is a sign which says no reserving chairs but not enforced. Loungers are good if you can get one & lots of umbrellas available. Ocean is very rough so we spent all out time by pool. Another negative is the smoking rules. I think the only place that I didn't see people smoking were in the breakfast restaurant & in the lobby. The worst place that they allowed smoking was in the poolside restaurant/bar. This is a covered hut & really didn't enjoy eating my lunch with the table beside me smoking. Smoking should not be allowed in any place with a roof. They do not have a supper menu only breakfast & snack menu but like I stated not a problem with all the restaurants in the area. The hotel was very clean & the cleaning staff did an excellent job cleaning the room. I will probably look at an alternative hotel next year but with a few minor changes I could change my mind by next year.

Foreigners shouldn’t be afraid traveling to PV. We felt safe the whole time we were there. They checked our temperature upon arrival to the hotel and made us use the provided sanitizer. Mask is required unless you’re eating, swimming or in the beach. Washing hands or sanitizing before entering a restaurant is a must. Rooms were sealed with sanitized sticker. Counters and tables were constantly sanitized. Our favorite hotel in PV which is Sunset is close until December so they told us to stay here instead. This is way different from what we’re accustomed to in Sunset in terms of food, amenities, room and environment but as members of Sunset, we were able to go to Sunset and enjoyed the pool and bar. I think we were the only members checked in and my kids were able to use the adult pool. Basically we had the entire area for ourselves except Monday- Wednesday when we were told that the area was reserved for 200 college student from the Club (hotel next door). It was such a turn off since we were told that Sunset was for members only. Anyway, we didn’t mind hanging out in the Grand. We just spent most of our time lounging in the cabana coz there were a lot of people in the pool area. Didn’t look like there was any distancing happening there. We saw familiar faces from Sunset like Francisco (from Luciano), Rubin and Jose (bell boys), Adalberto, Cresencio, and Roberto. There were few more people from Sunset we saw and we’re glad they still remembered us. Love seeing them again. As usual they were all smiles and helpful. We also met new ones who were awesome as well: Alfredo who was there helping us entertained with different activities each day and Martin from the restaurant. We love chatting with him and he was always attentive to us. Kiana (front desk) was always helpful and Melissa (towels/cabana) who was accommodating- prepared cabanas for us. Thank you for making our vacation relaxing.

We have stayed here many times and will certainly return. While this older, mid-budget property may not be everyone's thing, we are well-served here. The location is arguably one of the best. Suites all hang over the beach near the pier. Suites are large and all have full kitchens on outside balcony "rooms". Excellent split-unit AV really work well. Staff have mostly been here forever and are amazing. Wifi is strong, even on the balcony. Security has been stepped up. Exterior room & bathroom doors, and wooden built-in wardrobes recently replaced. Some rooms have snazzy new bathrooms, but most are a bit tired. There are some drawbacks. The rooftop plunge pool has been out of use for years. Standard rooms all face the street and are dreary. Some have twin beds...insist on a king, if that works for you. Ground floor suites, while larger, have big uncovered patios that get mold from leaking AC units and pigeon poop. Avoid them. Aging elevator was out of service several days last trip (waiting for part). This was tough on us. All in all for the location, value, and service you'd have a hard time beating this hotel.

We were vacationing at Las Palmas by the sea  February 4th-27th 2020. It is our favorite place to go to. We love it there. The rooms are older but kept clean. The staff is amazing & friendly, they always make you feel welcome & at home. I'd like say a special thank you to Ramon on the wait staff, he always takes excellent care of us, & he even remembered our names from last year. It's like going to visit friends. When he was not there  Salvador took great care of us. Breakfast was great Rosa makes the best omelettes & there is plenty of fresh fruits. We love the fresh guacamole, salsa, hanbugars, hotdogs, & French fries at the snack bar for lunch or having shrimp spears by the pool. There isn't a lot of variety at the buffet, but I could always find some thing to eat. We can't say enough about the bartenders( Armando, Eduardo , Daniel & Hector) at the beach bar. After a few times  they will remember your name and what you drink & see that you are well taken care of. Though the Coronavirus was slowly shutting down PV and the number of guests at the hotel was dwindling, the service was still excellent during our last trip in mid-March. All the employees still had smiles on their faces and did their best to make our stay enjoyable. Special notice has to be given to Maria at the concierge desk, the waiters Hugo and Adan, and Javier at the pool bar. Over the years they have become good friends and always greet us with smiles when we arrive. The hotel is a 15-20 minute walk from the end of the Malecon so walking to and around downtown is a good work out. An Oxxo store is only a block away on the other side of the Buenaventura hotel so it's a good place to purchase some water to keep yourself hydrated as, of course, the water is a little pricey at the hotel (of course water would be included if you're all-inclusive but see the next paragraph). We've gone with the European plan the last couple times we've visited as we just don't drink and eat enough to make the all-inclusive worth the money. Either way you have to sign your receipt every time you leave the pool bar or restaurant so going all-inclusive doesn't save any time. It's not like other all-inclusives where you can just get up and walk away when you're done. There's also a small drug store right across the street from the next door Buenaventura so a good place to go for any basic supplies you may need. (Suntan lotion, sunburn ointment, etc). All the rooms in the hotel face the ocean so you can be assured of an excellent view and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. The waves are usually quite strong and there is not much swimming in the ocean - but that's fine for us as we are not big swimmers. The pool is just the right size for the size of the hotel. Also, no kids as it's a 18+ only hotel. In the evening they'll sometimes have special entertainment. In the week we were there they had guys playing the sax and guitar, another guy playing keyboards, a couple women singing and playing violin, a small group which included a flamenco dancer - something different all the time. They usually have two restaurants open in the evening (though sometimes just one) so after a while it was a little hard to find something different to eat; but that's partly our fault as we're picky eaters. Overall, we enjoy staying at the Villa Premiere. When we arrive, it's almost like coming home and reconnecting with the employees who I now consider my good friends.

Only a block from the beach. I can't say enough about this place. My husband and I enjoyed every minute and plan to go back next year at the same time. It is downtown close to everything, a delicious restaurant close by and a Starbucks just down the street. And the beach is only a block and 1/2 away it is spectacular. Lovely little hotel in a great location. Scrupulously clean! Service is excellent, rooms are much better than I expected. They are were very clear with me about the room I booked. I wanted a window or balcony but as I booked only 3 days before I arrived they were all sold out. When i messaged them they were upfront in telling me they could provide what I booked but not what I was requesting. My room did not have a real exterior window, which the Trip advisor description didn’t say but as it deliberately omitted any reference to window, I suspected. It was actually okay, it had a window into the courtyard which was bright and let lots of light in. Great hotel! Amazing value for the money!
