Where do I begin, Norton House hosted mine and my partners wedding at the end of April and it was the best day of my life! Right from the start of planning, through to the execution of the day, the staff and venue pulled out all the stops to make it the best day ever for everyone involved! We have had nothing but compliments from all our guests over how amazing the staff were, how smoothly the day ran and the venue itself is a beautiful place to get married! The recommended supplier list that comes with planning a wedding here is top notch! Fully recommend Laura for all your planning needs, making sure everything is perfect and organised right up to the day of! Also Victoria for running our day and making sure everything was perfect, and even calming me down right before I walked down the aisle! The rest of the staff on the night were absolutely amazing and I cannot say enough to thank them all for making it the most special and magical day ever! <3

I would have preferred to write my hopefully constructive comments to a member of the senior management at the Dakota Hotels organisation, particularly as they are in the growth stages. However, and significantly, having failed in all my attempts to research an appropriate member of the senior management team, which included writing ‘twice’ to the Dakota Hotel Edinburgh reception (no response), spending a lot of time researching Linkedin and perusing the government website ‘companies house’, not one member of the senior management team appeared. Consequently, I have penned my comments to trip advisor. Location The Dakota Hotel Edinburgh is ideally located to the airport and a super wedding venue, Dunbas Castle. Initially, one is either impressed by the modern looking black edifice or find it depressing, a personal choice. Apparently, the theme of the hotel is one of a sombre mood, where an abundance of light is shunned. On the first evening we held a small champagne reception in a room shared by another wedding party. A gentleman from the other party asked a member of staff who came to close the blinds and put us all in near darkness if it was possible to leave them open. The staff member said it was against hotel policy but would ask the duty manager. Within a few minutes the duty manager appeared and brusquely closed the shutters in a most defiant manner, clearly illustrating the mood of the management! Reception Staff The first impression of a hotel is often made when checking in. Alas, of all the reception staff I encountered during our 4 day stay, I was appalled by the lack of friendly interaction. Indeed, on many occasions the extremely abrupt and curt conversations were almost offensive. Fortunately, there was one female manager named Megan who is most definitely an excellent example for the hospitality industry, as she was polite, attentive, and most efficient. Megan was indeed a redeeming feature of this hotel. At the initial check-in we were informed that we would be entitled to a glass of champagne and two Hors d'oeuvres each evening. This only occurred on two of our 4 evenings! When my daughter arrived from America, she was not told that breakfast was included in her room nor that she was entitled to a complementary glass of champagne and two Hors d'oeuvres each evening of her stay. As my daughter’s stay combined business with pleasure, she had some very important business and video calls to make but was frequently prevented from accomplishing her work as the hotel WiFi was not robust enough. In response to her complaints, she was offered 2 further alternative access points, but neither was sufficient to achieve a strong enough connection. Dining Room The dining room (brasserie Grill) was appropriately illuminated and the staff in the main were efficient and very polite. Alas, the chairs were too low for the tables and for each meal, cushions had to be requested. The staff were so accustomed to this anomaly, that t

Having stayed at the Dakota Eurocentral and eaten at the Dakota Grill Glasgow, we now love the Dakota brand so booked a couple of nights at the Dakota Edinburgh. Check in was quick and efficient and we were soon on our way to our Executive room on the fifth floor. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. The bed was super comfy, the bed linen and towels were lovely quality and the bathroom products smelled divine (from The White Company). The view was also pretty nice with a partial view of the Forth Road Bridge. Took a while to find the wardrobe hanging space but they are cleverly hidden behind the bed!! The location is excellent with a Tesco right next door and an easy walk into Queensferry which is a lovely wee town. There is a good bus service back to the hotel and you can even get the bus right into Edinburgh too. We ate in the Dakota both nights and the Grill at Edinburgh is on a par with Glasgow and Eurocentral. The food and the service were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed all our meals and the staff who served us were all very efficient and friendly. In particular, we would like to say a huge thank you to Sabato (First Host) who was absolutely exceptional and is an asset to the Dakota brand. Cannot wait to return to the Dakota but a hard decision to make in whether we choose Eurocentral, Glasgow or Edinburgh. They are all excellent.

The hotel on the mountainside has a very comfortable view. It is a bit far from the city and has free parking. The food and beverages in the hotel are good and the prices are reasonable. Chocolate chip cookies will be presented during check-in, which is a snack that every Double Tree will give away during the journey in the UK. Because it is a prepaid room, it is very convenient to check-out, just put the room card at the front desk. The room is not big. Although the sparrow is small and has all the internal organs, we have three suitcases that can be spread out, and we can leave an aisle. In a British hotel, the size is acceptable. I feel good, I will choose to change the branded hotel if I have the opportunity in the future.

The staff in the hotel are extremely friendly and helpful, The food in the restaurant is excellent, We had an unfortunate experience with the suite we booked but it was resolved by Wilburt and the extremely helpful reservation staff, Housekeeping in the hotel in the suite unfortunately had been skipped over which was such a shame however was resolved quickly. Views of the bridges is amazing and general areas of the Hotel is immaculate, We have stayed in the King Rooms before which were also immaculate.

Stayed for three nights while attending Comic Con at the royal highland centre which is conveniently just next door. Check in and out was no problem. The room was nice and clean and housekeeping refreshed it daily. As a housekeeper for a hotel myself i definitely appreciate the good job they did so thank you to them it's nice not having to be the one cleaning it for once. If i had one small complaint it would be that the water in the shower doesn't go very hot and i definitely like a hot shower. Apart from that it was lovely. Food wise i only had breakfast each day as i was away during the day but the breakfast was a good selection and everything was fresh. Overall it was a good stay and i would stay again if an event is held near there that i'm going to. Hopefully the housekeeping got the cakes that i left in the room, i didn't want to squash them in my bag and they were too expensive and fancy just to throw away (bought them at the event). Thanks for the comfortable stay!

This is a nice hotel situated near to Edinburgh Airport and I have used the Park, Stay and Go option for many years. On every occasion I have been directed to the hotel's long stay car park which is a securely fenced off area opposite the hotel. However, when I arrived 9 days ago, I was told that I had to park my car adjacent to the hotel. Whilst there are security cameras in this area, I was not so comfortable with this arrangement because it is very open and accessible. On my return from holiday, I attempted to establish the Hotel's Park, Stay and Go policy going forward but the receptionist was less than helpful. Rather than listen to my concerns, she completely dismissed everything I had to say. I still don't know why the policy appears to have changed but, hopefully, a response will be provided. Above all, I was very disappointed that the receptionist demonstrated little or no Customer Care Skills.

Stayed here for the close proximity to the airport (10 min walk) and my work location in the Gogarburn area, and though I was only there for 12 hours it was flawless from start to finish. A big thank you to Chelsea Rose and Klaudia on the front desk team who took care of my pre-arrival queries and were kind enough to upgrade me to one of their refurbished Queen Deluxe rooms. Check-in / Check-out was swift. The room itself was a very good size, comfortable bed, large wall mounted TV, was clean and bright. It came with a generous size fridge and a nespresso coffee machine. Breakfast was good, and some colleagues who ordered room service at dinner time gave the food top marks, whilst others who had stayed longer also spoke highly of the health club facilites. Can’t wait to stay here again on my next trip!

My wife and I flew in from Washington, DC and stayed here two nights before going to Gleneagles in Perthshire for a full week at a timeshare property. Everything was fine here, with a delicious full breakfast served in the lobby. Our room was good. The front desk staff were great, showing concern for us when one piece of our luggage needed to be replaced. They were very helpful with suggestions and making a few calls for us. On the day of The Queen's funeral, we watched the sad proceedings in the lobby on a large HD TV. The staff stood in respect during the two-minute moments of silence. The free shuttle bus to the airport was appreciated, from which one can take the Tram into the city. Thank you.

I am shocked to see the hotel with a 4-star rating on here. Everything about our experience was brilliant. We visited the hotel towards the end of March for a friends wedding. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, the drive in, the main reception building, the function room. A really special place to tie the knot. I think I can speak for most of the wedding party in saying the service was absolutely brilliant. All the staff were so attentive and really went above and beyond in catering to everybody’s needs. A special mention to Sofie and Johanna who were tending the bar. They really outdid themselves, professional and extremely pleasant throughout. I can’t imagine how hard it must be dealing with so many merry party goes but they did it with a smile and really went the extra mile and helped to make it a really great day. But thank you to everyone at the Dalmahoy, it was an amazing day.

Stayed at the Dalmahoy Hotel last night, group of 6 girls for a birthday celebration. We stayed in a deluxe room Lovely view from.our room, very comfortable bed, We had dinner in the hotel, the dinner was beautiful, all 3 courses, everyone finished all 3 courses. The service was excellent, and a special mention to Alanna and Connor, who looked.after us very well,.they were so attentive and friendly, even though the restaurant was at full capacity, nothing was roo much trouble. We enjoyed the spa facilities, and at breakfast this morning, it was very busy, and the staff worked really hard to get you seated quickly, and allowed for a later checkout because breakfast was so busy. Plenty on offer for breakfast and we all enjoyed it. Will definitely stay again. Good for couples, families, or a catch up.with friends.

I arrived at the airport in the middle of the night and it was raining lightly. When I came out, I saw the signs. I followed the signs and the navigation all the way to the hotel.
Breakfast is buffet from four to ten o'clock
It is very convenient to go out and walk to the nearby double tree and take the bus into the city.
The room was very clean

We booked a queen bed room a month in advance and they gave us a twin room without notifying us in prior nor when we checked in. Upon enquiry they said “ we’re fully booked “. Their response seemed like we asked for an upgrade where as we asked what we booked for. I don’t understand how they cannot facilitate people by giving rooms what they booked and how do they keep it open for booking a month in advance if they don’t have it. Also the shower pressure wasn’t good, quite disappointed.

Best decision to stay in this hotel though a bit pricey. Booked a nite here for an early morning. flight. A 10 mins walk to airport. Lots of busses to get to the city centre and back. Very clean and modern.

The staff are excellent, very friendly and ensure your stay is enjoyable. The rooms in the hotel need updating; I would not choose to stay at the hotel again due to the rooms being quite basic for a 4*, and no safe in the room either.
The restaurant area is nice. The bar area could do with an open fire, which would be in keeping with the property and, due to the bar's location can be quite cool.
I found the lockers difficult to use; there are no instructions when trying to use them, only in the reception area. I did ask someone to show me, but they were too busy apparently, so I asked another customer to help me.
There was no concession for late checkout on New Year's Day; however, upon request, this was granted. You also have to book for breakfast; therefore, on New Year's Day, I had to get up for 9 am to go down to breakfast, which was not ideal.
I had paid for the trip online when I booked; however, when I came to checkout, I was charged the full amount again and was informed that there was no log that I had already paid, but when we arrived and checked in, it was acknowledged that I had paid, it was a good job that I had the email displaying that I had paid. Upon further investigation by the hotel, it was noted that I had paid.
I thought that I had read somewhere that there was an option for a set menu for NYE, but al a carte was still an option however this was not the case. The food was ok.
The stay was made better due to the friendliness of the bar and restaurant staff, all credit to them.
