In 2019, I brought my friends along, and in 2020, I returned with my mum and her friends. This year in 2024, I came back with my mum and husband, and once again, we had an amazing stay. Disappointing. I’ve stayed at the Kimaya a few times before, and it’s not as good as it was. The best thing about the hotel is the friendly car park staff. The rooms are dated, the bed not particularly comfortable, the bathroom badly laid out, small, smelly, and veritably not spotlessly clean. I don’t blame the cleaners - how do you clean a bath when you have no access to it?
The reception staff are superficially friendly and efficient enough. Our biggest gripe was that the hotel refuses to take food delivery, which must be left outside by the gate. And they won’t tell you that it’s arrived. It’s a strange policy, especially considering the room service menu is not that great.
Breakfast is ok, again, not as good as it was.
As a regular visitor to Jogja, I hoped that the Kimaya would be my regular hotel for many years. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be back.FromNZD 60

Room Is cleaned without any bad smell, shower water is hot, TV got many different channels, got small fridge and safe. All people working in the hotel are very friendly and easy to communicate in English. Location is about 20 minutes walked from Jalan Malioboro and Plaza Malioboro. The hotel is clean and tidy. Location is right at the centre of Marlioboro, right next to a few shopping malls. The rooftop pool is the place my kids spent most of their time. The customer service is exceptional, they are always helpful.
The room fridge is though not functioning and was advised by the hotel that it's a display cabinet only, which is a bit odd. The hair-dryer is working but it will probably take me one hour to dry my hair with. I'd recommend bringing your own hair-dryer.FromNZD 108

Stayed one night, amazing service, spacious room for the deluxe type, also a classic building concept but looks luxurious and modern. But I feel that the room feels less soundproof so that sometimes sounds from outside can still be heard into the room. The breakfast menu is quite good and varied. It is 1 km away from the most bustling tourist street. The location is on a chowk, very easily accessible. It is not a five star hotel but 4 star. Facilities are nice. It’s a middle tier hotel. Easiest our favourite Hotel in Yogyakarta. We have stayed at many and the welcome and generally happiness of the staff is what puts this hotel apart. Our room was neat and clean with a balcony overlooking the forecourt.

Love the hotel's location where it is a short walk to the Malioboro shopping street (and not right in the busy & crowded central). Peaceful and serene. The hotel is fully smoke-free, which is why I chose it. The staff are very friendly, the rooms are very clean (good job to the house-keeping team). All of us are felt at ease and relaxed well. Will not hesitate to recommend this hotel to my friends and other travel mates for sure. Perhaps the only blemish is the sub-par BBQ Buffet we had on Fri night.FromNZD 123

The hotel’s location is good, and overall the stay was fine.
However, the bathroom was a bit dirty, with mold and black spots in the corners. The small fridge also didn’t work(not cooling) and seemed very dirty inside, with noticeable black spots.(We forget to take a picture of it)
Breakfast was kinda fine, but dinner at the restaurant was a bit disappointing. We ordered the fried squid dish, but it still had the membrane attached, which made it tough and inedible.
