This hotel is perfect for a relaxing one day stay. It’s right beside a sapphire-blue river in the middle of the mountains. The in-room onsen is more than big enough for two people and they also have communal baths. They also offer a free shuttle to the start of a stretch of the Kumano Kodo if you want to hike the next day.

We have missed the dinner on our first night upon our arrival at 8pm as we are being told that the dinner will be last served by 7pm.

A great alternative to the more popular Yunomine Onsen area. I feel it’s quieter here by the riverside, plus you can dip in the river waters which was nice.
The ryokan has its own bus stop by the entrance, the onsen choices were great and the food delicious. I would really recommend this spot

Very old-fashioned hotel, the door is still opened by a key. The hot spring is great, you can enjoy the outdoor hot spring. Dinner and breakfast are super nice, the service is very comfortable. It drizzled in the morning, sitting by the window to enjoy the tranquility of the mountains. The bus was very crowded in the morning when we left this stop, and the hotel brother quickly drove us to the next stop. There were backpackers who were climbing the mountain, and we squeezed the most crowded bus in the past 20 years to go down the mountain to Hayatama Taisha.

I booked a room with a private bath, which was large and new. The facilities were very complete. The private bath in the room was not comfortable enough and was not as good as the public hot spring downstairs.
I also stayed at Yufeng and Midoriya Sansui (I forgot the name) in Kumano last year. Fujiya is the best in all aspects. But unexpectedly, I found that many details in the room were very dirty and had not been cleaned for a long time. For example, on the bathroom sink and at the head of the bed, there was a long ***** of light where you could put things, and there were even many dead bugs attracted by the light. . .
The service was in place and the food was delicious. There was also a free shuttle to the main shrine and the Hoshinmon, which was very convenient.
