A lovely guest house in a perfect location at the top of lake Windermere, about 40 mins drive to Scafell Pike and 10 mins to Elterwater. Both of which we visited, but loads of other places to visit nearby. Steve and Tina both very friendly and really accommodating. The bedroom was clean, large, bed was comfortable and the shower was really nice (especially after a long day walking up hills). The breakfast was very nice and hot with a variety of options.

My first time in the Lake District my daughter brought me here to have a short trip for some fresh air oh what a place absolutely stunning guest house and to be greeted from the lovely Steve Tina and not to forget Charlie very memorable thankyou

Had a lovely stay in room 9. Great location. Close to the centre. Parking a bonus. Clean and spacious accommodation. Room 9 had a spa bath. Lovely cooked breakfast. Reasonable rates for Ambleside. Charlie was very cute! Would return and recommend.

Nice stay at Wanslea. Room was big and bright and clean. Place has been refurbished recently. Parking provided. Only problem was the breakfast. In every other hotel / b&b I've stayed (I've stayed in a lot) breakfast between 8 and 8 45 means arrive anytime between those times and your breakfast will be cooked fresh. Here it means arrive at 8 as that's when breakfast is cooked. If you arrive later your bacon / sausgae will be cremated and totally inedible. Spoilt an otherwise good stay.

Been staying at the wanslea for years now, before Steve, Tina and Charlie arrived and it was good then but they've definitely taken it to another level. It feels like our second home, from arriving to leaving they are genuinely interested in how you are, what you have been doing, spotlessly clean, wonderful breakfast. Ample parking and if not at the guest house there are free parking permits available, not everywhere does that!

Just an amazing place with great hosts tina and steve who are the nicest couple you could meet . great rooms great price great breakfast . we been coming here for years and it never changes it just gets better and more at home every time we come . the rooms are huge and spotless and we watched the fireworks over the lake from our room . stunning place well worth a visit

Great place to use as a base to explore the area. Not much directly around the property but it is walking distance from Ambleside's pubs and restaurants.
Room 1 was nicely renovated, clean and comfortable.
Breakfast was excellent!
