Emporikon Athens Hotel

Psiri / Monastiraki Athens|0.05km from Agia Irini Church
A charming hotel right in the middle of things! Eirini Square is right outside the door, teeming with terrific restaurants and bars, with lively music in the evenings..Sit under the colorful umbrellas and enjoy the vibe! More amazing is that once you walk into the Emporikon you can’t hear a thing.. Look for the huge wooden door with only a 27 marking it’s entrance..The street in front of the hotel is closed to traffic and filled with tables, couches and chairs.. Room 201 is my favorite..I’ve stayed twice in that room..It’s very spacious with a table and chairs on the balcony that has a fabulous view of the Acropolis..Room 301 is lovely as well, although not as large as 201, but enjoys the same view! They also have tables on each floor stocked with complimentary bottled water, sodas, fruit and nuts.. Be aware that the toilet shares the same space as the shower! That’s takes a little getting used to as an American, lol.. The best part is the staff..They were very pleasant and helpful and went above and beyond for our party of 4..We checked out after a three day stay to join our cruise..On board we were informed that we needed to make our own airport transportation..The four of us had lots of luggage so we needed a minivan and didn’t know if we’d be able to secure one at the port..I called the hotel, explained our situation and Lia made arrangements for us to be picked up at the port by one of their drivers..There was absolutely no benefit to the hotel except goodwill and we were so grateful for that kindness.. Here’s a good tip..To ensure that your room and refrigerator stay cool when you are out and about, take the key fob off the chain and leave it in the device that operates the room’s power..You will be glad you did! The Emporikon Athens Hotel will not disappoint!!

Similar to what others have said - you're right in the middle of things so the location is terrific, the price is low and the owners couldn't be nicer. For those reasons I'm giving this a 4 rating vs. a 3. Now for the really reallies. Okay, the part about it being a great location. There is ONE INTERSECTION in town where basically everyone congregates and that is about 30 paces from this hotel. We checked in on a Tuesday (2nd floor) and the street noise went until 2AM. I'm not kidding. That said, I got a good nights sleep as I was jetlagged - the bed was fine and the pillows were incredibly comfortable. However, if noise is a factor for you then you either shouldn't stay here or bring ear plugs. Also, I'm not sure I'd use the word ”shabby”, but spartan is probably accurate - especially the showers. My brother-in-law kept having the mildew spotted shower curtain wrap around him in the shower - seriously, we never had so many laughs as when he would launch into the story again. It made it worth it! If you need a luxurious shower experience then you might want to find another hotel. Oh, and my sister received at least two towels from the staff that had holes in them. That said, whatever shampoo/conditioner they provided in the little sample bottles... I had GREAT hair days every day so I'm not complaining. We were on the side of the building overlooking the street so technically did have balconies, but they were enough for maybe 1-2 people to stand on for a few minutes, but that was it. I would stay here again, but when I travel I usually don't spend much time in my room except to sleep so this was fine for me.

Great hotel' deserves 4 stars and not 3! The room was very clean and organized. I had the best shower I've ever had here! The concierge is very attentive and pleasant, helped us with everything we needed! The cleaning service was perfect and fast paced. Most importantly, the area of the hotel could not be better! The hotel is 5 minutes from every central place in Athens, tons of bars and restaurants around and 5 minutes from the main shopping street: all on foot of course. Definitely recommended!!!!

The Good: - The location of the hotel is great for sightseeing and shopping on nearby Ermou Street - The rooms are quite large and decorated nicely. Bathrooms are modern and the designers have done a good job overhauling an older building. The Meh: - Charging for water and coffee pods, when other small hotels in Athens are offering them for free is a choice..... The Bad: - Staff is average to poor with hospitality seriously lacking. From the brusque greeting on arrival before my room was ready to leaving my bags in the middle of the lobby to the more than 30 minutes it took to check in, this team needs some work. (The gentleman who checked me out couldn't have been more pleasant, though!) - Despite my booking stating I would be charged at checkin, my credit card was charged several days before my arrival which resulted in needing to refund that card (as it wasn't on me) to charge another one. The staff person checking me in didn't seem to know how to do this which resulted in several phone calls and the aforementioned 30 minute check in. Wouldn't have been an issue if they had followed their policy. - This place is LOUD. Very thin walls+ high ceilings means that sound carries throughout. If you do choose to stay here, I'd recommend earplugs.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Athens City View Urban Suites in December 2023, and it exceeded all expectations. After spending a month exploring Greece and staying in various places, this gem stood out as the pinnacle of welcoming people and extreme professionalism. The staff's incredible friendliness not only made us feel right at home but also created a warm atmosphere, ensuring a smooth and outstanding experience. If there's ever a tiny issue, they're quick to fix it – their efficiency is truly impressive! The service is excellent, and the staff goes the extra mile to ensure your happiness. Moreover the breakfast, not just good but truly delightful, adds a flavorful chapter to your stay. Thanks for everything, we will return=)

Agree with all the positive comments, and can’t add any negative one. First, have to thank Soula and the staff at the gelato shop where you first arrive, all very helpful, friendly, and truly caring for you to enjoy your stay. Soula is a rock star, she makes you feel like family, like she truly cares for you, she’s amazing. Her going above and beyond expectations started when we returned from siteseeing after we had stored our bags due to our very early arrival from our cruise. We were nicely surprised to find our bags had been moved into the apartment. Then, to top that off, we had cold water and fruits waiting for us, a thoughtful touch to give us energy for our afternoon. As far as the apartment, we had the top floor (6th) which required a few stairs after the elevator, not bad, but something to think about. We chose that apartment because it’s the one with the outdoor patio. However, we never really used the patio during our two nights, mainly because it doesn’t face the Parthenon and the windows in the room open completely to that incredible view making you feel like the whole apartment is a balcony. Noticed some of the other rooms also face the Parthenon and have the great windows in case you don’t think you’ll use the balcony, I think one or two the same size as the one on the 6th, savings would be worth the extra research
