A dream hotel, soon celebrating 150 years. Incredible views of Baalbeck temples from the balcony. You can feel history and enjoy very lovely Lebanese hospitality. Next door, in a historic building the Palmyra Hotel annex offers 5 very well appointed rooms with historic furniture and beautiful artwork. You can feel the love to this treasure of a hotel shared by the very friendly and helpful owner and her team. To enjoy the ruins of Baalbeck and as well the holy shrine of the grand-granddaughter of the Prophet next door, I recommend to stay at least 2 nights. You will enjoy the clear sky, view of the mountains, impressive breakfasts and great energy from this unique place. The team of Hotel Palmyra offered me tours to nearby attractions, the beauty of nature and Lebanese culture you should not miss. I was shown several rooms and could pick the best option to have an unforgettable stay.

the Hotel Palmyra, despite being old, remains glamorous and comfortable... entering this hotel is like stepping back a century but with modern amenities... the entire team is very friendly, from the manager to the staff... in addition, it is a authentic art gallery with works by Jean Cocteau… the breakfast is excellent and the bread is baked fresh…

The hotel is a very old place full of memories and very genuine place rich of Lebanese history with friendly owners that makes you feel home. It has an art gallery full of jean Cocteau paintings. The rooms are very cosy and a kind of time capsule that brings back in time.

This hotel is dangerous. No hot water and no heat in many rooms. Room keys do not work for some rooms. Rooms and bathrooms are filthy. Lighting is poor. No fire escape. No elevator and banister along stairway is broken.

This hotel has its historical charm inside out. It is right across the Baalbeck ruins with impeccable view. The interior decoration, carpets and furniture in the hall all speak volumes of history. The breakfast was great with so many choices, fresh and tasty. Although, it is a bit different when you have to spend a night in this hotel. The bathroom could really use some updates, in addition to sockets, lighting, etc. Much work is required to make the hotel more comfortable. It is not so bad to stay for one night. And I do hope one day this hotel can be restored to its past glory.

We stayed one night in this hotel and fell in love with it. The building is still very charming, the rooms are comfortable although the bathrooms could do with some adjustments. The staff are really kind and expert. The breakfast was great, varied and rich. I would always stay in hotels like this.

This is exactly the sort of hotel I normally prefer. As previous reviewers write, it is a special and historic building, but I think it has traded on that reputation for too long. Because I really want the hotel to succeed for another 200 years my review will be more critical than kind. It is a difficult time in Lebanon and not a time to invest money in hotels, but the Palmyra can improve without spending much more than a reasonable proportion of takings - plus a bit of time, attention and care. The staff are kind and helpful, but stair carpets, sockets, lighting and hot water, need some basic repairs to make guests comfortable and safe. As guests we felt secondary to people from the town who wandered in for a drink. Hotel information boasts that it contributes to the local economy - but we spoke to a few people in town who are disappointed that such an important hotel is - in their eyes - being neglected. In short, don't neglect this lovely and important building, stop trading off the past and invest at least time and care into your paying guests, and into the future.
