Selectum Family Resort Varadero

Where do I begin….My teenage son and returned two weeks ago and had a simply fantastic time. I did extensive research and read all reviews prior to booking our trip as well as after I had booked. I read both the negative as well as the positive. I read about the food, water and beach. I went with low expectations and I have to say all of those expectations were exceed in all areas. Upon arrival we did have to wait for our room but the front desk placed our luggage in a locked room. We walked around for a bit to get the lay of the land and had a drink. No big deal. Once we got to our room everything was clean and there was water and two beer in our fridge. Our view for the week was overlooking the canal and I loved enjoying my morning coffee there watching the sun come up. I apologize that I do not remember the lady who looked after our stay during the week but I had absolutely no complaints at all. Always an abundance of water for us. Toilet tissue was replenished and towels were replaced when requested(which wasn’t every day). I simply pinned them on the chairs on the balcony to dry daily. Now onto the dining room. Both my son and I can be a little bit of picky eater but NEVER once did we not find something that we liked and did not go hungry. Only one day of 7 there was no bread. Again. No big deal. Most days we went directly to the grilling station and again I did not get her name but the lady who served us always had a big smile and wave for us. We went to the snack bar daily for the burgers, hot dogs and chips. A big shout out to Yaniela and Lorena who we looked for every day as they were simply amazing. Each and every morning as soon as they opened I went to the coffee bar by the snack bar and was met by Alejandro and Maria who knew exactly what my order was on day two. Again. Smiles and waves every time they saw us. We did not spend a lot of time in the Lobby bar as I am not a big drinker but each time we were greeted very warmly. The pool was fantastic and we were greeted each morning by Lionel with hugs for me and fist pumps for my son. Before I clue this up I have to mention a gentleman who stole our hearts when we were there. Mr. Tito who works on the grounds. He works out in that hot sun all day long and keeps them impeccable and well groomed. There was a language barrier but we had absolutely no problem communicating with him. We actually made it a point daily to seek him out and will do so on our next visit. My son actually had to make it a point to see him before we checked out. Would I return to this resort? Absolutely without question or hesitation and would highly recommend to anybody. My son and I look forward to seeing you next April and God willing for years to come. To the Management your team is fantastic and kudos to all who work so hard. My love for Cuba has only increased on this last visit. Muchos gracias to all.

Arrived @ 10pm at night from eastern Canada. We were quickly checked in and were shown to our room where we unpacked a few things and went to bed. Next morning we got the lay of the land and checked out the beach. We quickly found out where the best coffee was (lobby bar) and a lot of time there, both mornings and evenings. This was our first time at this resort and it did not disappoint. Our room was cleaned every day by the wonderful housekeeping team and we were given plenty of water as there were 3 of us in our room. We were also given some extra towels when we asked because let's face it, we are three women in a room and go through a lot of towels! Shout out to Anaysa in the lobby bar. It took her one morning waiting on us to know what we wanted when we came back the next day and was so friendly. There was a waiter there too who my sister and I got a huge kick out of as well, I think his name was Denis? He was great too. Amanda at the pool bar makes a mean pina colada with orange so go see her too. I found all the staff to be super friendly and helpful if you needed something. Food was good. I lived on spaghetti and omelets pretty much every day but that's just me. My sisters and friends tried a variety of things and there were no complaints. I think next time I go to a resort I will go to an adults only and not because anything was wrong with this place but when I see a kid (aged 8 or 9 by my guess) reach his bare hands into the butter bowl and grab a handfull then put some back, that pretty much did it for me. Parents, how about you watch what your kids are doing at the buffet?

we have been here for a week and it is a great hotel!! its clean in all it facilities, the food is great with a very very creative chef from Turkey, Gökhan Gokalp 👌👏👏👏👏; the rooms are fancy 😀 the beach is also good if you bring the rigth shoes, and you can have the vip service for a good price!!! Its a new hotel with a management that know how to do their bussiness. easy for going anywhere in the city and with a nice disco just besides the hotel 🤩

This was not our 1st time to this resort and we had another very positive experience. The staff is one of the positive feedback at this resort. They give a customer service of high quality. A big congratulations to the employees at the Lobby Bar who do their best to made good drinks. Also, if you enjoy doing activities you will enjoy. Andrés at the pool & beach is so funny and always smiling and having fun. He is THE BEST. Rachel also deserves good comments. If you walk by the kids club you'll see her and she is amazing. Always smiling, polite. Those people work hard but they always seem to enjoy what they are doing. The beach has improved a lot since the opening. Great work! The hotel is beautiful and the management team cares a lot; Thank you Raul for the importance you give to the customers. My only negative point is that even if the hotel is quite new (1 year), you can notice some chairs damaged and some bench seats at the buffet are stained.

I am the tour leader of Canada. This is my second time come to Family Selectum Resort. I love the hotel because it very new its built it in 2023 and the service is super good. Specially one of the gorgeous girl her name is🌹 Yoslaisys Mella 🌹 has best customer service ever. Everytime i ask for her help she will do it immediately and reslove my problem in the hotel with my group. Thank you so much Yoslaisys Mella 💕 You have the best customers service in this hotel for sure 😘

Amazing time!!! Beautiful hotel with great food choices. Animation staff, Jennifer, Yoyo, Jon Can los, Andreas were amazing! Clean, pools were fantastic, beach was nice but ocean a bit rocky upon entering. I was told that they are working on it during the low time as they’re only 1 year old hotel. You won’t be disappointed! Just remember to take nespresso pods for your coffee in room as they don’t have any at the moment. Maria and Alejandro at the la Terraza coffee bar are super amazing! All the staff is fantastic! I will definitely return!

This was our second year going to this resort and it never disappoints Raul really goes over and above for all the tourists and all the staff are so nice and great at what they do the hotel is spotless and Enrique and lala in the jazz bar are so professional , I highly recommend this resort and we hope to be back next year

Where do I start ..... well here goes ..... I arrived at this hotel at 7pm on Wednesday 3rd April after a 10 hour flight from Manchester UK. Booked this resort with Loveholidays . I was booked to stay 14nights and my wife who is Cuban and lives in UK with me was coming to stay last 4 nights as she was visiting family in Holgefore we returned to uk My wife came to the hotel to make sure I checked in OK. This is where the nigh**are started. On going to reception to check in after showing my reservation and booking details , I was told abruptly by receptionist that , I would need to pay before I could access my room . As I had already paid the hotel through Loveholidays , I said sorry but I have paid and showed them the receipts ect , receptionist said maybe so , but the reservation was not paid by the holiday company or a third party agency in Cuba . As my wife was there she spoke to them in Spanish , but to no avail, they were not letting me check in unless I paid again . I contacted Loveholidays and was put through to to an agent somewhere in far East , ( ended up coming home to £200 mobile phone bill ) . They spoke with reception desk this we on all evening . I was then approached by the most arrogant , insulting , offence and downright rude duty Manager , sorry cannot remember his name but small white grey haired guy with a mullet . He kept telling me I needed to pay and pay by credit card , which I told him I did not have . He kept saying that the holiday company would not pay and that they were liars , and he treated me like a criminal and would not listen to reason , and one point he was treating me with Cuban Police . He wjust would not listen to me or my wife . Anyway he went off duty leaving me no further forward . By the this time its after midnight , after many calls to my holiday company , they assured that the bill would be paid for , but then the hotel would not accept the company in Cubas credit card . By this time I'm totally exhausted by flight and the situation , also my wife had to leave as she had a bus to catch at 5.30am from Matanzas. Eventually the hotel let me in at 3.30am , but took my passport as hotel was still not paid for . At 4.30am Cuban time I managed to contact main office of Loveholidays in UK, and was assured it would be sorted out . I went down to reception again atv8am to be told it was still not resolved and I would need to vacate room by 11am and pay $150 US dollars for use of room . I was distraught by this pont , Eventually I received call from Loveholidays saying bill was not paid at 1pm , and to go back to reception . I got my passport back ect in front of this manager who was still insisting that bill was not paid and holiday company were liars . I had to walk away from him as his arrogance and manners were disgraceful . Now onto hotel , room was very nice , food not good , staff not very nice or approachable , pools very nice , queue s for eve

We just return back from this amazing resort. We had a wonderful vacation. The food was great we always can find something to eat. My two years old loved pasta, chicken. The ice cream was so delicious. Rooms were everyday well cleaned thank you. Beach: yes, did have some rocks, but just go to the right side closer to dock and it is nice and sandy. entrea**ent team is the best: a specially big thank you to Jennifer and Yan Carlos who made our days in the pull so fun and show as nightlife at varadero.❤️❤️❤️❤️. Thank you so much Alex at lobby bar and Aleksey at pool bar for delicious cocktails. We really enjoyed our time at this resort 🤗
