Colonels Retreat 2

Firstly, let me clarify that there are two locations associated with Colonel’s Retreat. We initially booked at Colonel’s Retreat 2, but it seems that Uber and Google Maps primarily recognize the original Colonel’s Retreat (1) located at D418. Unfortunately, we weren’t aware that these two places were over a mile apart when we booked an Uber from the airport. Upon reaching the original D418 location, we were redirected to the D264 address. Colonel’s Retreat 2 is nestled in Defence Colony, an affluent neighborhood in New Delhi. It’s important to note that this establishment operates as a homestay, lacking typical hotel amenities. The accommodations are basic, offering essential facilities. However, the pricing doesn’t quite align with our expectations given the simplicity. On the bright side, the rooms include breakfast and dinner (available for an additional charge). The staff members are friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant stay. Breakfast is served in the adjacent cafe area, where you’ll find delightful treats like banana bread and excellent tea. Naveen, the facility ***ager, goes above and beyond to assist with local travel arrangements, taxis, and any other needs you might have. In summary, Colonel’s Retreat 2 provides a cozy nook in Defence Colony, offering a unique experience for your stay in Delhi. While it lacks frills, the warm hospitality and tasty banana bread make up for it! 🍌

Staff were very helpful and courteous. Nice breakfast & dinner were prepared. Rooms were ok standard, perhaps just needed a little bit updating, especially the bathrooms. Suitable for a night or two while you are out all day exploring Delhi. Good central base.

Our stay here was average. Again felt like a tourist trap. It's in the middle of a middle class gated community. Feels like you're in someone's home. Everything was fine but not great. Left with a sour taste in my mouth because we had dinner there and were shown a menu without prices. My mum and I couldn't remember if dinner was included but it seemed it was with how pushy the waiter was with giving us dinner. Then when we checked out the next day we were charged 2000 rupees for dinner which was 1 x rice, 1 x naan and 1 x curry. All were fine but absolutely tasteless too. Absolute rip off and felt like they were scamming us since they knew we had just arrived in Delhi. Avoid if possible.

Visiting from Atlanta , USA, I am amazed at how clean and comfortable the room was. The staff went overboard to help me in every which way. Especially the ***ager Mr. Naveen. He prepared special food as I was getting some teeth work done near there. The cleaning staff did the cleaning every day. It is a very safe place to stay. The room had all the stuff to make tea or coffee and to my delight they had Banana cake ready to enjoy. There was nothing negative about my stay and I will be staying here again and nowhere else. For the price it is steel.

A homestay in decent location, but with poor breakfast service, issues in hygiene and cleanliness. Seems they try to safe money instead of being focused on proper service and amenities, ie shower gel was half empty on move in, A/C not in use in public areas etc.

We had a wonderful stay at the Colonel's Retreat 2. The staff was very helpful and friendly and we really liked the area. Very quiet and green and walking distance to metro station and good restaurants. Very clean and spacious room with a nice design. The breakfast was good, but the same everyday, which could improve with some more choices & varieties (i.e. not bananas everyday, but also some other fruits). We can highly recommend staying at Colonel's Retreat 2, an oasis in the middle of the city.

I very much enjoyed my stay at the Colonel's Retreat 2. My room was cosy and clean. Food was delicious and most importantly the staff members were very welcoming and helpful in all means. I did not know i got covid when i arrived in there. Once my test came positive, the hotel allowed me isolate myself until I recovered. The hotel staff requested me to follow certain rules not to harm others, and helped me to get all necessities (fruits, veggies, warm milk and medicine etc.) with care and patience. I am very grateful!

I like everything about this place. Colonel's Retreat 2 is warm and hospitable, clean and comfortable. I was there in early April 2022. Naveen and the rest of the staff are very helpful and do all they can to make sure their guests have a good stay, including helping with travel to far-flung fringes of the city. The food is good, home-made food, and the staff urge us to have more! The location is perfect, a quiet part of Defence Colony, and conveniently close to most places I need to visit. One can even walk to the market through quiet lanes.

Nice hotel in a residential neighborhood (there are some supermarkets, a Starbucks and other shops nearby if you need one). Pictures are not necessarily for Colonel Retreat *2* (some are for their first place). Overall very friendly and helpful staff, all day and night long. Room are ok, comfortable without anything fancy. Fan and AC are there, some rooms have an air purifier (quite necessary in New Delhi). The bathroom is spacious and has a shower, a sink and a (European-style) wc.
