Hubby and I have stayed at The Staincliffe many many times over the past 4years. We have family in Hartlepool and always book to stay there. Check in and out was quick and easy. Yes, the hotel is old and tired in certain areas but this is the character of this magnificent building. We have seen different owners and staff come and go over the years and honestly haven’t found fault with anyone. The present owner and staff are all lovely and welcoming and made our stay very enjoyable. Our room was clean , comfortable and warm. We opted for the included continental breakfast included in room rate and couldn’t fault it . Plenty of cheeses , hams , pastries , cereals , juices , tea coffee and everything you would expect. Cooked breakfasts are available at an extra cost. The very obliging owner himself made us an Italian coffee which was excellent. A new Fish bar has just been opened recently but as we were meeting family we didn’t get to try it. But what sets this Hotel apart from others is the location. Right on the seafront within yards to the beach . Waking up to the sunrise is amazing. A short stroll along the seafront is a selection of eateries , amusements and a shop to get your morning paper! There is a large free car park at the front of the Hotel. We love staying at The Staincliffe and look forward to many more enjoyable stays there.

Was worried after reading the reviews, but the staff as soon as we walked in were very welcoming and helpful, we were given a very nice room with 2 large radiators. It was so toasty! It was very clean too, it's an old building which some seem to forget therefore there are parts of the place that "look old" but it's all part of the character of the place. We heard some people complaining about it being cold... but they were in and out leaving the main doors open so that explains that. Breakfast was really good and the coffee is amazing.

This has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in in my entire life. I never take the time to write reviews but I feel compelled to on this occasion. The hotel itself is a shambles. The building is literally falling down, and is a health and safety hazard, it should be demolished. The staff are both very scruffy and also don’t seem to have any idea of what they are doing. The room was a disgrace, it was filthy, it was damp, it was the worst room I have stayed in in my entire adult life, it’s not fit for a dog. The fact the hotel does not have WiFi is a complete joke, this is 2023 for gods sake? The breakfast was poorly organised. The price was ridiculously overpriced, the best thing about this hotel was leaving, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone in a million years, I felt dirty upon leaving, the owner should be ashamed of himself. Save yourself the torment and look to the marina, I wish I had.

Horrible place to stay. Filthy and damp room, dated bathroom that wasn’t clean. Uncomfortable bed. No WiFi and overpriced flat drinks. Won’t return. Terrible place to stay, spoilt our visit to the area. Hartlepool itself and also Saltburn where we visited were very nice places although. The Seaview Fish and Chip restaurant at Saltburn was outstanding, made our last day enjoyable after staying in the horrible hotel.

Such a beautiful big place. Owner was so welcoming. Great a**osphere with the most beautiful views of the beach front. I will definitely be back here soon. Barman was a nice fella and gave me a great pint

Upon entering, the location and parking is very convenient and easy to get to the hotel. Staff were welcoming. The full English breakfast was included in the price and was quite delicious, despite the circumstances... Disliked · The hotel was dirty, filthy and smelled. Despite it looks like it was recently "renovated", it looks like they have just cheaply painted over all the problems instead of fixing them. The building is in total disrepair and after chatting to some of the guests, looks like all the rooms as well. Leaky gutters and old windows causing dampness around the room windows. Me and my family (husband, 10 year old son and 5 month old baby) have arrived just before midnight (the booking information said check in is till midnight) after a very long 12 hour journey. We have been extremely tired and just needed a comfortable place to sleep for the night to continue our journey in the morning. However after the staff (the gentleman appeared very scruffy like I've never experienced at any hotel before), have showed us our room nr 19 with "garden view" (I'd not call it a garden, it's just a green patch between buildings, but OK). This was the last room that was available for our family to fit (despite they had no cot available for the baby, but we knew about this and we were co-sleeping). The room looked like it has never been cleaned upon our arrival. The carpet was stained and filthy with dirt and rubbish all over it, it was ready to be thrown away... the bins were not emptied both in the room and the bathroom, there were cans of beers, the 2 beds were not done - it looked like someone used the bed and was just left there like it without changing the sheets. There were dirty towels hanging on the bathroom doors and rail. Dirt around the window sills with a lot of damp stains around the windows, with a power socket drenched in the damp wall. There was a dirty cup with spoon and a open bottle of water. The provided "free toiletries" were an open, almost empty bottle of hand-wash and some oily gel purple refillable bottle of what I think was a body wash? It was disgusting. I've never stayed in a three star accommodation in such a bad condition. Even my partner was terrified. However we had no other option but to stay in this filth. It was not worth the money we paid and I would think this was only worth 1 third of the £117 we paid for the night. The breakfast in the morning was strange. The restaurant was so empty like a ghost town, apart of one other guest couple, who confirmed they also had issues with dampness in their room, then few more arrived to have a breakfast. There was one lady who was serving, the same as the one that welcomed us the night before. She was very stressed, running in and out and trying to serve everyone and mentioned that the chef was sick so she was visibly struggling. After confirming that we'd like to have full English breakfast, we got 1 toast with butter after 5 minutes of being seated and after 25 minutes we

Called into the Staincliffe for a drink and stayed for dinner, a very good looking bar and excellent dinning. In a great location with incredible views. Looking forward to returning and staying a few nights in this beautiful hotel.

The décor poor and out of date, thick with dust, Broken slats on the cupboard, unpleasant odour, Stains on blankets, not vacuumed beneath beds, empty pill packet behind bed, batteries in TV controls not working; only two channels worked, 8 lights in the main room not working. The bath panel was broken and there was chewing gum in the tub. Throughout our time, there was no hot water, Hairdryer was not working, compliance labels were out of date. broken rendering and piles of rubble on the roof, there were no curtains on the room's relatively large windows, merely roman shades that didn't pull all the way across, Stagnant water left in the kettle from a prior booking. The hotel's owner/manager exhibits an appalling attitude. He has no idea about customer service and its value; He was highly intrusive, intimidating, and there was no empathy. You completely ruined our holiday and put a damper on the entire trip; you should be ashamed of yourself. Especially when your last words were "It's not my fault you don't have a place to stay." You horrible individual.

We have stayed here a few times before and swore we would never return, but the reviews told us that they had improved they had upped their game. But no it’s still mostly awful, on arrival the girl on reception was very nice and was really very interested in getting more information from us in case there was damage to the room, so not really made very welcome. We then had to change our room from the hovel that was offered so it was a £12 upgraded room to what I think was the best room, lovely views over he beach looking through all 4 failed double glazed windows, the room was very tired and you can clearly see where the room has been repaired over the years. The shower was the worst, the tv control had something sticky on it, wonderful. what little soaps on offer where all from the cheapest supplier, restaurant was closed and no offer of breakfast. The hotel was clearly great at one time but just like Lola, that was 40 years ago.
