Extended Stay America Suites - Orange County - Huntington Beach

As I pulled up to the hotel, two police cruisers were departing. I found out why as I walked down the second floor hallway, skirting the possessions of a freshly evicted patron who was still arguing with a manager. When I got to the room, there was glitter in the carpet and bathroom (along with one long hair on the wall of the shower) and a couple of bobby pins on the floor. In general, the feel of living in an apartment in a poorer part of town persisted the two weeks I was down burying my father and trying to get things organized for my family. The stairwells smelled of cigarette smoke and a screaming baby or barking dogs could often be heard through the walls. If I used the keyed stairwell doors, I was worried I’d have to confront an unsavory person who was trying to tailgate through them. Neither my rental car or room were broken into, thank goodness, but I did not feel particularly safe during my stay. I’d stayed there with my family about 10 years ago while visiting my father and it felt like a long term option for business travelers on contract at nearby aerospace companies. This time it felt more like a flophouse.
Kimpton Shorebreak Resort

Helen Berkley went over and above our expectations during our stay. Thank you for making this another memorable experience. Special recognition to Halle and Cooper for making our stay comfortable. Stayed at Kimpton Shorebreak Huntington Beach, CA for 1 night. 9/25/22 to 9/26/22. We received a complimentary room upgrade to a 1 King Suite Oceanfront View Room for being IHG Diamond Members. I love the soaking bathtub, possibly one of the largest tubs I've experienced. Room also has extra large shower area with his and her shower heads each side. Just wow! Resort Fee $40 including taxes on all stays (including reward stays) Many of us don't like to pay for resort fees for hotels with lackluster benefits they offer, but this is one of the few hotels I have ever stayed where the resort fee was actually worth it. Here's the list: free coffee in the morning from 6am to 9am, use of chairs, towels, and even boogie boards for the beach, free beer and wine from 5pm to 6pm, and all the S'Mores you can eat all evening until 10pm. Ping pong table and foosball table in the lobby. Great gym facility including rock climbing wall. For the past 2 years, I have stayed at this property three times and its one of my favorite hotels in the Kimpton Portfolio. Service 5 Stars++ Location 5 Stars++ Sleep Quality 5 Stars++ We will definitely be coming back year after year for many years to come!
Paséa Hotel & Spa

Although the hotel is conveniently situated for a quick stay in Huntington Beach with excellent views of the water and pier, the condescending and rude manner in which the hotel staff treated me from check-in to check-out is significant enough to ensure I will never stay at the Pasea Hotel & Spa in the future. Due to the reservation being made through AMEX, the staff at the registration desk informed me that the resort fee would be waived at checkout. When I questioned why I was paying the resort fee if it would be waived, the staff even went so far as to slowly and condescendingly define what constitutes an incidental fee versus a resort fee and that the resort fee would be refunded at checkout. At checkout, the same attendant that 'explained' only the resort fee would be refunded claimed she never stated that. After I recounted the conversation at check-in with her, she informed me she would follow up with her manager. After a considerable amount of time, the staff member returned from speaking with her manager and literally stated, ”This is only going to happen this time, and I want to make sure that you know this will never happen again.” The Pasea Hotel & Spa is on par with a Holiday Inn Express with the cot-like mattress, paper-thin sheets, pillows stuffed with cotton balls, and unbelievably drab decor. The hotel's only redeeming quality is its view of Huntington Beach, but the view does little to overcome the horrifying experience of interacting with the staff. The staff unfortunately believes condescending service lends itself to prestige, but the hallmark of a true 4 or 5 star hotel is the service. I cannot recommend this establishment to any traveler.
The Waterfront Beach Resort, A Hilton Hotel

Although this is named a RESORT, the service and amenities are lacking, therefore I consider this a hotel. The location is across the highway from the sand, so be careful when crossing. The hotel offers beach chairs, bike rentals and umbrella's for a charge. HB allows firepit's on the beach and the hotel will provide a space, chairs and wood for $200. The rooms are on the small side and a partial ocean view will have a very small balcony with two chairs and a table. We had to put the table in our room to move the chair positions. It's tight. We faced south and had a good morning view of the sand and waves in the distance. There is a bed and small couch in the room. The bathroom is minimal, so don't expect Q-Tips, shower cap or thread kit. Housekeeping is ”by request only” and you must notify the front desk early in the morning if you want service. You will not sleep well if you expect to leave your window open. Pacific Coast Highway is very busy with racing cars, loud motorcycles and poolside partying. No wave crashing melodies. There are two pools, one for families and children, the other for adults. It appears that the hotel doesn't care if children use the adult pool, as it was packed with children. Over the weekend the adult pool had a DJ which was nice. The pool service was terrible. Both days drinks took up to an hour and food took longer than that to be delivered. There were three servers, so the problem was the bar and kitchen. You have three choices to eat a meal on site. The main restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. They only offered a buffet on Saturday and Sunday for breakfast, no ala carte. We tried to order coffee to take it upstairs and they said we would have to go to the marketplace gift store. 10 people in line, slow help and an hour later we walked away with two cups of coffee and a croissant. This place has a few gift store items, however the snacks available were minimal at best. They do offer a decent (not great) pizza. Although it is advertised as thin crust, ours was thick. The main Boardwalk restaurant has an eclectic array of food and for many, it may be difficult to find something satisfying to eat. We ate lunch and dinner here on one occasion. The third restaurant opens for dinner only. The menu items didn't appeal to us and it's likely others agreed. All three nights there were very few patrons. There was a guitarist playing music on Friday and Saturday evening. If Huntington Beach was your destination and you happened to stay at the Hilton, the location is ideal. You are a 20 minute drive to Newport Beach, to enjoy fine dining in the evening, or visit the number of restaurants next door at the outdoor shopping mall or Main Street which is 1/2 a mile away. It's an easy walk. The crowd on Main St tends to get pretty rowdy at nights, and I wouldn't suggest leaving your teenagers there alone or with friends. It's a big bar scene, but great for people watching. For the amount of money spent over the c
Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa

The hotel is large and beautiful, and the check in is very fast. The hotel has a covered bridge that leads directly to the beach. It is very convenient to go to the beach and you can borrow the hotel's beach chairs. The food in the restaurant is very delicious, especially the potato cake, which is worth a try. The waiters at the restaurant are very welcoming and will recommend a variety of cuisines as well as weekend evening restaurant activities.
