My father and I were not staying at the hotel but dined there on two consecutive days, one lunch and one dinner. On both occasions the food was excellent and really good value for money. Only slight drawback was the time to wait (it was really busy) but overall highly recommend a visit for the food and particularly Stefano the general manager who was very attentive.

Had another great meal in the Dark Island. Always come here for a meal when on the island. Good choice on menu and competitive prices. Restaurant is lovely. Would suggest booking if going as can be busy. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food is always great.

We stayed on Benbecula for a few days and ate at the Dark Island Hotel on four occasions. We would have given a positive review, except on the last occasion we were stuck out the back and forgotten. We had to wait for a considerable time for our order to be taken and had to repeat some items on the order. Or coffee never arrived nor were we asked if we required dessert.

Having recently visited The Dark Island Hotel, I must say that our stay was excellent, from the room, to food and staff. I cannot find fault in any area. I actually sought out the manager as I was so impressed with the service we received. Thank you.

I decided to book in here for some dinner for a change and it was reccomemded by my hotel. It was a very busy hotel but had a very big dining room. The menu was smaller than I thought for a big hotel. The menu at their sister hotel borrowdale was a little better. The service was very good. The whiskey selection was amazing, and they have a whiskey lounge.

We had an excellent dinner here, and the seafood linguine was one of the best I've ever had. It was beautifully cooked and full of flavour. The service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. We were so impressed we immediately booked a table for the following evening.

I had to stay on the Island to perform an electrical repair at the Uist n Barra hospital. After 30 years of travelling for work I can honestly say this was the worst hotel I have ever encountered. I checked in as a sole traveller, and was given the key to my first room. It stank of smoke, even with nicotene stains on walls and ceiling. Bathroom was mouldy on the sealent seals, Bed was too uninviting I would have slept on the couch in reception if I had to. As I went to reception to complain and get another room, a bus load of tourists had turned up and started collecting their room keys. I was ashamed that somehow the Scottish tourist board, and bus/holiday company had promoted this pit, as suitable holiday accommodation these foreign tourists. There ws no welcoming Scottish banter, or friendliness, only an Eastern European management team and staff, clearly embarrassed with their offerrings performing the minimum of basic tasks. ....I ve had enough of a rant, but it could go on further...... book at your peril

My family and I, including 3 young children, stayed at the Dark Island Hotel from the 27th of March until the 1st of April. We were provided with two family rooms opposite of one another. We were welcomed by the most friendly staff members and were told to ask any member of staff if we needed anything. Of all the experiences I have had staying in hotels with my family, this has got to be the best! The Manager, Ken, came and introduced himself to myself and my family whilst we were in the bar and wished us a lovely holiday. The staff went above and beyond in catering for our every need and were especially attentive to my young children. The breakfast was delicious, offering a wide variety of foods, juices and hot drinks. The restaurant/bar is so warm and inviting and the food served to other families looked amazing. I would highly recommend this hotel and its services to anyone and I cannot thank Ken and the staff enough for making our stay as amazing as it was.

Stayed in the sister hotel benbecula house hotel , but went here for a lunch visit , stunning hotel very modern clean went with our tour guide for lunch and was met by manager saying this is not exceptable as we arrived with no warning we didn’t want any fuss just tea coffee sandwiches, when waitress Michaela came to take the order my friend was given so much abuse it was unbelievable her attitude was appalling so for me it looks amazing but there’s no customer service from the staff or management as no one would offer any apologies or come and speak with us regarding the waitresses behaviour so be aware of this if you book this hotel
