Perched high on a soaring rock face, overlooking the ruins of an old Greek village, this tiny hotel is a true gem. Kostas the owner , is a perfectionist and this place is perfection. From the beautifully designed , comfortable bedrooms , to the general vibe of a totally relaxed atmosphere in which to forget the cares of the outside world, this former fortress provides complete protection from the reality of everyday life . The food , cooked exceptionally skilfully by Nata, is so delicious… Greek food but top notch and with a twist . The scent of wild mountain herbs on the breeze, the view of a distant beach , the total beauty of this location , all conspire to make this an extremely special place. We will return!

Far at the southern most tip of the beauteous wild Peloponnese and mainland Greece, and behind large iron gates, lies an oasis of tranquility and perfection. Your host is the genial, welcoming architect, Kostas, who has expertly restored an elegant Maniot tower to provide four small, but exquisitely styled rooms. Delicious breakfasts and dinners are served by him and his attentive staff on the spacious terrace, near the gleaming infinity pool that merges with the magnificent view of the blue, blue sea and sky above. Utterly transformative.

Definitely the best hotel of Mani!!! Ideal place to relax and spend all your day at the pool overlooking the magnificent view. It is a small 4 room traditional tower with a very luxury feeling. Food, including breakfast, is off the charts! Greek gourmet style with well sized portions and fantastic flavours! Mr. Kostas is such a great host, taking care of everything!

The room and the view were incredible. The beds were extremely comfortable and the architecture gave the hotel such a unique feeling. The food was the best meal I had in Greece after a month here. I will definitely be coming back. It is a small hotel, but the staff gives you such amazing attention.

What else can someone say about Tainaron Blue Retreat? Wow, just wow! We had the most fantastic stay there. Everything was just perfect! The retreat is an exquisitely restored Maniot tower with beautiful grounds and an infinity pool. The views from the retreat are breathtaking. Kostas and his team were extremely helpful. They took good care of us and made our stay exceptional. The breakfast was the best we had in all of Greece. Kostas's recommendations and knowledge of the area were a plus. We will definitely return.

Great place to stay, highly recommend, hotel is beautiful, unique architecture and very comfortable room. The Mani Peninsula is a very interesting region, hiking beaches and scenery. Service was top rate and Kostas took the time to give us lots of information on the area and local history, great recommendations for dinner, beaches and hikes. Food was delicious, breakfast courses kept coming, dinner at the hotel also fantastic. One of the highlights of our trip.

It's difficult to add to reviews that others have left. We just loved everything about this quirky but beautiful property. The beds are comfortable and the room details are beautiful and so well thought out by Kostas. We would get up in the morning and drive the 5 minutes to the local beach to have a swim to give us an appetite for the splendid breakfast. Which was leisurely and tasty and again all about the details. The staff are wonderful. The room in the top of the tower is compact but its a Mani building and that is where the joy lies. We loved it.

mazing views and so clever how they have built sunbeds down a the bottom of a cliff. Such a lovely swimming pool and 2 x restaurants and bar area to have early evening drinks before supper. We didn't eat in the Michelin Star restaurant but I heard it was great!After a great relaxing stay, Il Pellicano still maintains a very high standard all round, every time. It evokes a Chic, special place to relax and induldge in all it has to offer. A fantastic bar headed up by Frederico Morosi, Pelligrill and the Pellicano restaurant's offer a choice of quality food as well as superb breakfast. With an excellent choice of wines, the staff are very helpful, very professional, and first class.
