We are often disappointed in Quality Inns because they are not consistent across the USA. We were very disappointed in Florida and last night we were disappointed in Lamar Colorado. In defense of the hotel, perhaps they were in the process of renovation; however, that was never mentioned in the reservation page nor as we checked in. But as you can see from the pictures below there’s definitely some work that needs to be done. The carpet and floors were new and clean and the walls had been freshly painted in our room. Painter, however, was not meticulous. He\she painted over the toilet paper holder instead of removing it, and the stained wood trim had paint on it, because it wasn’t taped before they painted the white walls. These things are perhaps minor but it creates an overall impression of: old, dated, and sloppiness and makes me question the cleanliness! The sign, shown below, creates a negative first impression. The room was small with one stuffed chair and one desk chair for sitting. The springs on the mattress seemed to be old fashion springs and not intersprings. However I did not check; I just heard them every time we moved. The bathroom was recently modernized, but there was no place to put your stuff except for a handicap chair that we turned into a table of sorts.
