"When checking in, there was a tall waiter uncle, very polite, and another uncle who helped us carry our luggage was also very friendly. But the waiters who changed shifts were more indifferent. The location is very good, five minutes to the train station. The central square is just behind the hotel. You can find carefour express you can buy water in a minute. Of course there are many restaurants nearby."

"Basic facilities are just the room choice. Although you can still ask for a quieter one, Florence is more lively at night, so the sound insulation is a little bit worse and it will be noisy, but the counter is very warm and friendly. The overall cp value is high. The hotel also sends a small gift."

There's no elevator, but the front desk staff (especially the young man) were super helpful, assisting with luggage and providing free local maps. It's very close to major attractions like the Duomo and Uffizi Gallery. Plus, there's a Carrefour supermarket right downstairs, perfect for grabbing water and essentials."

"This hotel is okay if you get a good deal, but it's not worth paying extra for a special experience. The location is fantastic, literally 10 meters from the Duomo! It feels safe, though you'll be woken up by the church bells every morning. Service was a mixed bag, very hit or miss, which I guess is typical for Italy. Some staff were warm and helpful, others were quite cold. We had a family room, which wasn't the exact room type pictured and was a bit smaller than expected. However, you can tell it has very high ceilings, suggesting it might have once been owned by a wealthy family or banker. The overall design and structural style haven't changed much. Cleanliness was a concern. There were pillows on the bed that couldn't be removed, and it seems in Italy, duvets are often just a sheet with a reusable blanket on top, which I personally found a bit unhygienic (but I respect cultural differences). There weren't many charging outlets, and the design isn't standardized across rooms (e.g., outlet placement, a chair specifically for towels in the bathroom, etc.). Ultimately, don't pay a premium to stay here. If the price is right, then it's an option."

"The constant presence of staff at the front desk was reassuring, and their guidance was excellent. The breakfast was good. It was a nice touch to have two complimentary bottles of water in the room. The availability of multiple rental umbrellas was very helpful. The room cleanliness was perfectly fine. My only minor disappointment was that the body soap pump was broken."

"We had a wonderful two-night stay at Hotel La Fortezza and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Florence. The hotel is conveniently located about a 10–15 minute walk from Firenze Santa Maria Novella (SMN) train station. If you prefer public transportation, there is a bus stop just a 2-minute walk from the hotel, making it easy to reach all the major attractions. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and full of character. We especially appreciated having a room with a window, and everything was well maintained throughout our stay. One of the first things we noticed was the hotel’s pleasant signature fragrance, which created a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. The staff were friendly and professional, but we would especially like to thank Mr. Buli, who was working the night shift. We returned to the hotel late one evening after all the nearby restaurants had closed. When he learned that my son was hungry, he kindly prepared fresh sandwiches and yogurt for us from the hotel kitchen. His kindness and willingness to help went far beyond our expectations and made us feel truly cared for. Another thoughtful service was that the hotel offers complimentary travel adapters for guests, which was very convenient. Overall, we had an excellent experience and would happily stay at Hotel La Fortezza again on our next visit to Florence. "The hotel's location is excellent, right across the street from Florence Santa Maria Novella train station. It's incredibly convenient if you're traveling by train, and you can easily walk to all the major attractions. Right next door, there's a very famous Florentine steakhouse that's packed every evening. Plus, there's a Carrefour Express supermarket nearby, which is handy for picking up water and other essentials. The breakfast is incredibly varied and a huge highlight of this hotel. There's a wide selection, and you can certainly eat your fill. The restaurant's design and ambiance are also lovely, similar to a sunroom, creating a very elegant atmosphere. The front desk staff were quick to resolve an issue. Initially, my room's bathroom had an unpleasant odor. After I reported it to the front desk, they immediately moved me to another room on the spot. This new room was even larger, and the bathroom was more spacious. Their toiletries are from a local skincare brand, and the soap and body lotion, in particular, are very moisturizing. On the downside, the bathtub drainage was a bit slow."

"Clean hotel, great location Stayed for a week. Had a single room, small, but clean and efficient. On 2nd floor, backside of building, great view of orange roofs, the back steeple of San Marco church, the dome of the Duomo, and the tower at Piazza Signoria. Very quiet, there is a botanical garden across the street in back, so you can hear birds chirping. Went up to the top terrace a couple of times in the early evening, very nice, But would be too hot in daytime in the sun. Decor was “funky”: paintings looked straight out of a kindergarten classroom, and a chandelier made of plastic soda bottle parts- but fine! Bathroom looked as if it was renovated in the past year, very clean; great water pressure in shower. Air conditioner worked well. Staff were friendly and available 24/7 - great if you arrive after 10pm. Housekeeping came everyday, emptied wastebaskets, tidied the bedsheets and changed towels while I was out. I didn’t have breakfast there so can’t comment on it."
