AAnonymous UserTwo trees in the courtyard, 38 degrees Fahrenheit outside, and the pool water was probably not even 25 degrees Celsius – too cold to really get in. The pool has a jacuzzi button; I suggest turning it on a few times to circulate the water, otherwise, it's just full of fallen leaves and dead bugs. The view isn't a genuine sea view either, mostly just mudflats, and there were people constantly fishing, so privacy was a concern. We were extremely disappointed with the room.
The famous 'Moon' restaurant no longer serves breakfast, only dinner. Breakfast is now at 'Height', which is indeed a pure sea-view restaurant. It's newly renovated and has a slight new-furniture smell, but the view is decent, though not as distinctive as 'Moon'.
There are no changing rooms or restrooms by the infinity pool, only towels are provided. There's no drink service either. The pool at 'Moon' has drink service but no towels. How to put it? The facilities are excellent, but the management and service can't keep up. For instance, the infinity pool actually has a jacuzzi, but because the supporting facilities are lacking, hardly anyone uses it. If it weren't for an expat lady who had stayed there for several nights telling me about the 'surf' button, I wouldn't have known about such a great feature.
Of course, there are good aspects too. Breakfast is really good. The night before, we ordered room service and, oh my, it was the worst Thai food I've ever had. So, I was surprised that the quality and variety of breakfast were actually quite impressive, comparable to a leading hotel.
The hotel offers a free shuttle bus to two main beaches. There's also a free happy hour at 5:30 PM, and the minibar is well-stocked.
Villa guests receive a 10,000 THB credit per room per night, which can be used at restaurants, spas, etc.
Overall, considering these perks and benefits, a sea-view villa at over 3,000 THB per night is still great value for money on Koh Samui. If beachfront villas were priced according to their view like at Conrad, I believe customer satisfaction would be even better.
