Review: A Beautiful, Design-Led Oasis in Fisherman’s Village We recently stayed at the Hansar Samui, and it is truly a beautiful property with a thoughtful design. The location is perfect—just a short, pleasant stroll away from Fisherman’s Village, making it easy to explore the local area while still feeling like you have a quiet retreat to return to. The Highlights Dining Experience: The breakfast was a standout. I particularly appreciated having eggs made fresh to order; there is nothing worse than pre-cooked, rubbery eggs left under heat lamps, so this was a huge bonus for me. The Vibe: The swimming pool is lovely, and the beach is kept very clean. The hotel maintains a relaxed atmosphere, complemented by a great selection of background music. Service & Little Touches: The staff were incredibly welcoming and kind. I loved the ”turn-down” service around 5:00 PM, where housekeeping brought little chocolates and water—an adorable touch that made us feel looked after. Facilities: The gym is clean and well-maintained. Crucially for those working remotely, the Wi-Fi was excellent and reliable enough for me to take Zoom meetings without any issues. Room Design: The rooms are beautifully decorated with stunning balconies and views. The bathroom was a highlight, especially the large rainfall shower. Room Comfort & Maintenance We did have a significant issue with the bed. The mattresses are very soft, which didn't suit us at all as my husband has a bad back. It made sleeping quite difficult. However, the staff were wonderful and tried their best to accommodate us; they helped remove the mattress so we could sleep on the wooden base with just the mattress topper. While not ”luxury” comfort, it was much better for his back than the soft mattress. We also had a few issues with a temperamental toilet flush, but to the hotel's credit, maintenance was very prompt in coming to fix it each time. Dining & Logistics We had dinner at the restaurant one evening, ordering the Massaman curry and Chicken Panang. While the food was edible, it was just ”okay”—we were perhaps expecting a bit more given how high the quality of breakfast was. That said, the view from the restaurant in the evening is spectacular, and they occasionally have lovely entertainment. One small hiccup occurred when we booked a taxi through the hotel to take us to the pier for our trip to Koh Phangan. The driver unfortunately dropped us at the wrong port. We had to quickly catch a Grab to the correct one, but luckily we made it just in time for our ferry. Overall Despite a few minor glitches, this was a wonderful stay. The aesthetic of the hotel is gorgeous, and the professionalism of the staff ensures that any issues are handled quickly. I would definitely recommend Hansar for anyone looking for a stylish and relaxed stay in Samui!

1. **Check-in** We were greeted with welcome drinks, and all the services available during our stay were thoroughly explained. After check-in, we were taken to our room by golf cart. 2. **Location** There's not much around, but they offer scooter rentals and a shuttle bus service. The shuttle bus goes to two night market areas, but it doesn't run very frequently. It was convenient for tours as the pier for ferries to Koh Tao was only about a 10-minute drive away. 3. **Room** The room was very clean and spacious, and the ocean view was absolutely stunning. The desk, closet, vanity, and refrigerator were all generously sized, making our stay completely stress-free. 4. **Bathroom** The bathroom was very clean, with excellent water pressure and temperature. Having two showerheads was very convenient, allowing two people to shower simultaneously. Amenities were also readily available by requesting them at the front desk. 5. **Facilities & Services** The hotel offers so many facilities and services that we couldn't even use them all during our stay. The gym was impressive for a hotel gym, equipped with 30kg dumbbells, a Smith machine, and 25kg/20kg plates, making it suitable for serious workouts. We had breakfast at the restaurant, which was an à la carte buffet, and every dish was delicious. We also dined there one evening; the food was excellent, and the prices were comparable to restaurants in town. The pool was under renovation for most of our stay, so we only got to use it on the last day, but it was a beautiful pool with a great atmosphere. 6. **Other** All the staff members were kind and attentive, and it felt like they effectively shared guest information among themselves. I fell ill during my stay and felt bad for inconveniencing the hotel, but the next day, every staff member I encountered asked if I was okay. I was extremely satisfied with both the facilities and services, and I would definitely love to stay here again if I visit Koh Samui in the future. I would confidently recommend this hotel to anyone I know visiting Koh Samui. The only minor drawback I could mention is the significant elevation changes within the property, which might be a bit inconvenient for those with mobility issues.

I had high expectations for this Ritz-Carlton hotel, but despite being a five-star hotel, I left feeling quite disappointed. One of the biggest inconveniences was that you have to rely on buggies to get around the resort. Walking is technically possible, but the distances are long and the routes are dull, so you're constantly waiting for transportation. The soundproofing in the room was surprisingly poor. I could clearly hear the guests upstairs talking, coughing, moving chairs, and walking around. This is simply unacceptable for a luxury hotel. The breakfast was another letdown. The selection was rather limited, and the bottled juices tasted diluted rather than freshly squeezed. There were no desserts available to order from the menu—only egg dishes. Even getting a cup of coffee required waiting 10–15 minutes. The gym was another major disappointment. For a hotel of this caliber, the fitness center is incredibly underwhelming. When I first saw it, I was genuinely shocked and frustrated. Considering how much guests pay to stay here, I expected a modern, well-equipped gym. Instead, it felt more like the fitness room of a three- or four-star hotel. This is simply unacceptable for a luxury resort and honestly quite outrageous. The biggest disappointment, however, was the beach. It looks nice for sunbathing, but swimming is almost impossible because the seabed is covered with sharp rocks and large stones. During our stay, both my wife and another guest cut their feet. I have a serious question for the Ritz-Carlton management: with the prices you charge your guests, can you really not invest in cleaning the beach? Bring in an excavator, remove the sharp rocks, and make the beach safe. How many more people need to get injured before something is done? You expect guests to spend money in your expensive restaurants, yet you can't provide a safe place to swim. That is simply disgraceful. Another downside is the location. There are no shops within walking distance, so even buying basic groceries requires taking a taxi. Overall, this stay was a major disappointment and nowhere near the standard I expect from the Ritz-Carlton brand. Rating: 2.5/5

The hotel kindly upgraded us to a pool villa, and both the service and facilities were definitely five-star quality. Even though the hotel is a bit older, it offers a great variety of room types, excellent service, and a lively location. It also has its own expansive beach. The breakfast, spa, and pools were all fantastic. There are even showers right in the lobby, so after checking out at noon, we could come back from our evening stroll and freshen up before heading to the airport. We were very satisfied. (The hotel's beach has crystal clear water and white sand, and there are lots of fish too!)

Overall, the hotel doesn't offer good value for money and feels more like a 3-star property. 1. The rooms are very small. They're fine for two people, but we saw a family of three trying to squeeze in, and it looked very cramped. Soundproofing is poor; you can hear doors moving in the next room and footsteps from upstairs. There are no bathrobes or slippers in the rooms. 2. When booking, consider the building's location – try to get one away from the restaurant. Otherwise, the restaurant's air conditioning kicks in at 5:30 AM and hums loudly all day. This noise forced us to change rooms, which took a full day. We also had issues with an irritable front desk agent who insisted we check out at 12:00 PM but said our new room wouldn't be ready until 3:00 PM. We disagreed, but he refused to help and yelled at us. This inappropriate behavior from the agent really soured our vacation. He refused to call a manager and even lied, claiming he *was* the manager. We had to find the general manager ourselves to resolve the issue. Thankfully, we were eventually helped and moved to a new room by 10:30 AM. 3. Breakfast was decent, with a good variety, and there was always enough food. 4. The pool is shallow (1.20m), really only suitable for children. It's also noisy on the grounds during the day. 5. The beach is clean and nice. 6. There are plenty of sun loungers. 7. They organize volleyball games at 5:00 PM. 8. In the evenings, neighboring hotels set up tables on the beach for dinner, but this hotel doesn't offer that. Perhaps if it weren't for the rude front desk agent at the start of our stay, our experience would have been much more positive!

During the Chinese New Year, hotel prices were outrageous. I unexpectedly booked this hotel, which had very few Chinese guests, and the price was very reasonable. To my surprise, the rooms were quite good, spacious, and both rooms had small balconies. The hotel environment was also nice, with two swimming pools, one by the sea and one outside the villas. The rooms were generally clean, but the air conditioning hadn't been cleaned in a long time; you could see a layer of dust in the vents. The hotel breakfast was a bit disappointing, with not much choice or variety, and no kids' meals, which wasn't very friendly for picky eaters. The hotel is within walking distance of a local restaurant with good reviews (recommended on Xiaohongshu for beautiful sunset views). Although most staff didn't speak Chinese, they were very enthusiastic. Except for one male front desk staff member wearing glasses. When checking in, I mentioned my early flight and was advised to pre-order a breakfast box the day before. However, this staff member kept trying to get me to book a car (a private van costs 700, the hotel charges 1000). I said three times that I wanted to order breakfast, but he acted as if he didn't hear me. It wasn't until I said I wasn't booking a car and just wanted breakfast that he told me to go eat at the restaurant myself! He had a disdainful attitude throughout. I've been to so many countries and so many hotels, and this is the first time I've encountered such terrible service.

Beautiful looking hotel, quiet and relaxed but also just a short scooter ride away from Fisherman’s village. For everyone confused about the beach situation: there is a long bit of beach by the hotel. The hotel itseld doesn’t have beds on the beach itself, however, the beds are just above and around the pool area that overlooks the beach. If you wanna lay on the beach, in the morning there is high tide so you won’t be having much sand to lay on, still good for a swim. In the afternoon/evening there is low tide so you can put your towel down easily.

First of all, I'd like to extend a huge thank you to the hotel! I honestly didn't expect to have such a great vacation in Asia! 🥹 Let's start with the staff! I have to commend their perfect work! They do everything so quietly, you barely notice their presence! But they are definitely working! Always with pleasant smiles, greetings, and ready to help! 🥹 Regarding the rooms: we stayed as a family of 2 adults and 2 children (7 and 11 years old). We ran into some difficulties here. The family room didn't accommodate 4 people (although the room description said it would), so I had to contact Trip.com support! And you won't believe it! They reimbursed me for the difference the hotel charged for the extra bed. (In total, the hotel charged 1000 baht per day for accommodation + meals for the 7-year-old child). The room itself was very spacious, stylish, and comfortable! A huge balcony with a table and chairs! 🥹 The hotel also provides waffle bathrobes! I want to especially highlight the location! It's perfect! There's a huge night market nearby with European food! (Moms will understand), and Thai cafes are also available! The sea in this area in June is ideal. I specifically went to Chaweng to swim, but I liked it more here! There were enough sun loungers for everyone, even during peak times! The sand was cleaned! The beach was cleared of trash and the sand was raked! ❤️ Just a few more words about breakfast! I know how important this is for parents! The children could always find something to eat! A huge selection of fruits. Eggs in any form, muesli! They even made mashed potatoes (not from powder)! The only thing, as others have mentioned, is the excessive amount of chlorine in the pool! The smell was even noticeable outside. Perhaps the hotel should pay attention to this! Overall, I *highly* recommend it! I will definitely return! Oh! And the cleanliness! I was shocked! Perfectly clean!

Excellent hotel, beautiful and well-maintained. The breakfasts were good. The hotel has direct access to a street with cafes, shops, and currency exchange offices. The rooms are spacious. Since we were celebrating a birthday during our stay, the hotel gave us a complimentary upgrade from our booked room to a suite for the entire duration, which was a lovely surprise! The hotel has one unique feature, which I wouldn't call a downside. The beach at the hotel isn't suitable for swimming; the water is only knee-deep and separated from the sea by rocks (I've attached photos). However, because of this, the pool area is very private, with no passersby. To reach deeper water, you need to walk along the shore for about 10 minutes. We rented sun loungers there for 100 baht for the whole day, and you could also get food and drinks there (much cheaper than at the hotel).

It is a very good place to relax, quiet, peaceful, really relaxing. The accommodation is beautiful, the sunlight, the lights, the air conditioning is cool, everything is good. If I go to Samui again, I will definitely come back to stay again.
