Hilton Mainz

Mainz|0.09km from Niko Niko Tei
We had googled our way to the fact that the Hilton Mainz has a very good location right down to the Rhine and you can purchase access to the hotel's ”Executive Lounge”. We booked 5 nights and we were ready for a little vacation by the Rhine. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were quickly and efficiently checked in by Mrs. Blanco Flores, who upgraded us to a room with a view of the Rhine. Mrs. Flores made us aware, that the ”Executive Lounge” was unfortunately not that big, but we had to see that with our ”own eyes”. Really good service was provided upon check-in, and our expectations for the stay at the hotel became greater. The room we had been allocated was on the 5th floor with a wonderful view of the Rhine. We had booked a room with breakfast, so we were excited to see, how the breakfast buffet was. But we were very pleasantly surprised there 😊.. There was a reasonably large selection of various breads and hot items, so it was just a matter of getting started with breakfast. The hotel allows you to sit outside and enjoy your breakfast with a view of the Rhine, and watch the people walking and cycling past. We were very lucky with the weather, so breakfast was enjoyed for a little longer time than usual. After breakfast, we went up and see how the ”Executive Lounge” was. But unfortunately we were somewhat disappointed. The ”Executive Lounge” consists of 2 small rooms, where there were 3 tables in each room, and 3 people could sit at each table. When we got outside the time when alcoholic drinks are served, we could see that you could have a cup of coffee or an apollinaris. The snacks on display looked a bit boring, and the fruit wasn't of the best quality either. But cheer up, it could be good in the evening... But when we visited the ”Executive Lounge” in the evening, beer, wine and spirits were on display - but the snacks that were also on display didn't seem particularly inviting - so we didn't take any of them. Summary of our experience of the ”Executive Lounge” is that it is not necessary to purchase access to the ”Executive Lounge”. And we can only encourage hotel management to go on a study trip to Düsseldorf or Dresden, where we have experienced what an ”Executive Lounge” should really be like. In general, the level of service is very high, and the staff a super good service at the hotel 😊... Here we have to highlight in particular: Mrs. Flores from the reception, Heike from the breakfast restaurant and Brittany from Guest Relations. They gave us a really good service during our stay. In summary, we would give the hotel 4 stars out of 5. If the hotel should have had the last star, the ”Executive Lounge” must be upgraded with better rooms. (Could space be created for a small area down in the restaurant area, so that you also have the opportunity to sit outside on the warm summer evenings. We would like to come again at another time to enjoy the good location and super service 😊..

Mercure Hotel Mainz City Center

Mainz|0.91km from Niko Niko Tei
I arrived at the hotel at 12:30 pm, and had sent an email in advance to let them know I will be arriving before official check-in time. My email was literally answered within minutes, and I was happy to find out that they had a room ready for me when I got to the hotel. The reception was busy, so I had to wait for a while as one party was checking in and another checking out, but when it became my turn, the friendly receptionist had me checked in within minutes. My room on the second floor was very nice for a three star hotel, and I might even go as far as to say that the room met four star standards. It was probably recently renovated, as it felt very fresh and modern and was in impeccable condition. It was not very large, but came with a balcony and a view of the park outside the hotel. There was a desk&chair, a closet, a safe and good A/C, but no water bottle, no fridge and no sitting area. Wifi was easy to use and fast, however, I believe Youtube was banned, because all other websites worked fine but I was not able to access Youtube at all. That felt a bit strange. The queen bed, although too soft for my taste, was otherwise fine for one person although the pillow was flimsy and I had to request another one, which was gladly brought up to my room. There were sockets by the bed, so charging your devices overnight was easy. The bathroom was also clean and fresh and felt recently renovated. The walk-in shower came with excellent water pressure. There was enough room for toiletries etc by the sink, however the bath towel was extremely small. Amenities only included soap, shampoo and shower gel. No conditioner or body lotion. These came in wall-mounted containers, of which I am not a fan because I don’t find them particularly hygienic. I wish hotels saved money in other ways and not by abandoning single-use toiletries. The hotel serves breakfast in the ground floor breakfast room from 6:30 to 10:30, and from 7 to 12 on weekends. My rate did not include breakfast, but I popped in the first morning to see the spread. It was definitely not worth the price (20.50 EUR), so my suggestioon would be to buy something at the supermarket a block away or to have breakfast in a nearby café. I had a late flight out, and was informed that they could extend my check-out until 12:30 pm at no charge, and beyond that they offered a late check-out at 4 pm for 19 EUR. It was a bargain and I was happy to take up on the offer. The hotel is located two minutes from the main railway station, and I walked to all the sights and restaurants in the city centre area. The Markt and Dom (cathedral) is about a 15 min walk from the hotel. I found the location excellent and will be sure to stay here again if my travels take me to Mainz in the future.

AC Hotel Mainz

This is the second time we’ve stayed at the AC hotel in Mainz. Although it is across the street from the train station, the sound of multiple trains and trams is not heard in hotel rooms. But the convenience of being close to a transportation center cannot be understated. The hotel itself is lovely and clean, the front desk staff is friendly and helpful, and the on-site restaurant (Adam and Eden) has windows overlooking the area. Since we were visiting family members in Mainz, we only ate breakfast there, but it included an amazing buffet. In fact, we invited our family to join us for a delicious breakfast all 3 days of our stay. Last but not least, out wait staffer, Osiris (sp?) was a real pleasure, anticipating our needs before we asked. His professionalism and sence of humor helped make our journey special. He is a treasure. Joy & Larry of California
Osteiner Hof by the Apartment Suite

This was the first hotel we stayed at, as part of a 7 month trip through Europe and Africa. Will admit - not the best idea, as this apartment is SO NICE, that you'll end up comparing all your future hotel rooms against it (and they'll probs come up short). Beautiful converted building, spacious rooms, everything feels recently renovated and clean. The owner was exceptionally friendly and went out of his way to help us. Our room looked over the main square and fountain, and was extremely nice to fall asleep at night with the window opening listening to people walk past, eating at cafe and the fountain in the background. Only thing to note is that the beds seem a little small. We're used to a king at home, or queen when we travel. This may indeed be a queen, but it feels like a double. I fell off the bed (while sleeping) one night we stayed. Not fun as bed is quite high. Excellent stay in Mainz, and a great alternative to Frankfurt if they're having a convention (and the prices go sky-high). Old town here is small, but there's enough stuff to keep one busy for a few days.

This hotel is located just in front of the train station which is so convenient, also mean the main bus stop is here. It's quite well decorated. Despite its old built, it's well organized inside. Unfortunately I got the room on the backside but still got the top floor, so won't complain. They have AC and heater(separately). Just only one hair in found in the bathroom is the diasadvantage. Oh well, the blanket seems to be smaller than a queen bed. Maybe because I book just for one, anyway I hope to get a big one. A women at the reception I met was nice, friendly. Overall, I kinda like it here. Well, haven't tried thier breakfast so, can't say. I will be back here if I visit Mainz for some business reasons.
H2 Hotel Mainz

Nice, new hotel. The room size and the view of the water were much better than I expected for this hotel category. The room layout was a bit strange (shower and sink in the room, only a small toilet is separated separately). When I arrived, the hotel garage was already full (it is probably quite small and advance reservation is not possible), but the Zollhafen Weinlager underground car park is within walking distance and costs a maximum of 1 hour per hour.

I was called this morning by a lady from the favorite restaurant. She wanted to talk to me about my criticism. First you told me that the service staff had a completely different perception and that the restaurant had cameras installed and everything was recorded. First, the information about the cameras irritated me, but I answered that it is in principle good, because it was all recorded and can be assessed in fact. The perception of the servants did not seem to me to be related to facts. Objectively, I can understand – What can you tell the chief if you are in an explanation need... The lady wanted to hear my version again, it was hardly because you've always interrupted me. She took words in her mouth that I would never use, namely it was claimed that I don't want to be “filled” when the server wanted to give me the same wine once 2-tes without asking if I wanted to. The next time it went on and a new corresponding wine should be served. Finally, I said I do not find the conversation to be targeted and I would like to finish it. Finally, the lady has told the audience that you don't want to see us in this restaurant. All right! I wrote that in my criticism that we don't come anymore. Maybe not everything was read or the lady wanted the last word. For me, this is an example of a painful reprocessing...and unfortunately confirms me in what I wrote. There are so great restaurants in Frankfurt, where there were several times, such as Villa Merton, La Fleur, (previously Emma Metzler), Maintower or Lohninger – there is quality, service and friendliness and we're going back there! PS tip error correction from the main criticism: Keller = Keller; if= who
