The Okeover Arms ★★★★
"A quick overnight stay as it was a handy location for visiting Alton Towers. Booking was simple, price was reasonable and turned out to be excellent value for money. Easy to find with the sat nav as the hamlet of Mappleton seems to be a one road place. Checked in at the pub bar, very friendly and great atmosphere. Room was exactly as expected, spotlessly clean and well presented. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. Would recommend and stay again if I’m ever in the area."

Travelodge Ashbourne ★★★
"BEST TRAVELODGE STAY EVER! Excellent sleep. Compleatly clean and tidy. Quiet. Quick check-in and out. Good parking. At the right price. I would go out of my way to stay here again."
Ibis Budget Derby ★★
"Great place for one night stay. Room, tv, shower that’s all you need. Very clean and tidy. Great location just off the motorway. Pub within walking distance in the park / an area so you can get a pub meal if you don’t fancy the hotel food."
YHA Hartington Hall ★★
"YHA Hartington Hall has a great range of accommodation, double rooms with en-suite too. Glamping tents and Pods are also in the grounds. Besides a brilliant place to stay, the cafe is open all day to non YHA members for excellent quality meals, beverages and cookies. From the lunch time menu we had yummy home made soup, jacket spud with huge fresh salad. Really great value. The YHA has a bar and extensive evening menu to rival any restaurant. Accommodation is very comfortable and really good value. So in summary, I highly recommend this hostel for great food and accommodation. The whole team where friendly and helpful, especially the receptionist who Jill gave us a very warm welcome with lots of local advice as to where to walk and cycle."
B&B Hotel Derby ★★★
"Very friendly staff. Clean and comfortable. Food good and facilities good all you need for a pleasant night's stay"
Wildhive Callow Hall ★★★★
"Recently paid a visit to this hotel and had an excellent experience. The setting for this hotel is really what sets it aside from many others. Surrounded by countryside and green spaces the setting couldn't be better. There is a complete contrast between the old hotel building and the new glass extension which houses the eating space. Sat in the dining room having breakfast overlooking the countryside, very relaxing. Our room was good and had everything that we needed. We only ate breakfast in the hotel and that was one of the nicest tasting fry-ups I've had. The car park is a fair walk from the hotel. There are buggies to transport you but unfortunately we weren't offered one. If you want a relaxing experience in this area then this hotel will take some beating. Keep up the good work."
The Dog & Partridge Country Inn ★★★
"Breakfast is not really included as such. Only the continental buffet. This is cereal, fruits, cereal bars, baked items and a large selection of cakes, including mince pies, which was odd for breakfast. The hot breakfast requires a surcharge to be paid, something I’ve never experienced before. The full English would be best described as part English breakfast, with no sausages, tomatoes, or mushrooms included which is a bit of an insult when you’re paying a surcharge. I can’t fault the service, or anything else, but this felt a bit naughty to be doing."
North Stafford Hotel ★★★
"I was apprehensive about the hotel after reading previous reviews, but in some ways I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. I will start with the positives. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We were here to attend a wedding at The Ashes in Endon, and this hotel was much more affordable than other, closer hotels and it was only a £10 taxi ride away. The hotel is facing Stoke train station and transport links are good. There is an iron and a hairdryer in the room. Now the negatives. The service we received upon arrival was awful. The lady who checked us in gave us no information or direction and we were made to feel like an inconvenience to her. I would rank her service amongst the worst I have ever received at a hotel. The frustrating thing here is that there were another two women at the reception who helped us over the next couple of days whose service was actually very good, and it is a shame their reputation is let down by one individual. We were staying on the first floor and the wifi did not reach here. Also, the shower flooded the bathroom whenever it was used, and this was unavoidable."
