Kali Escandón Mexico City

Escandon Mexico City|1.79km from "Tío Polito" Manuel Bernal Park
Overall we had a great stay here. I’ll try to summarise some key points: + lovely helpful staff who didn’t mind us not speaking Spanish and helped us with eg making a dinner booking + excellent breakfast - hot foods changed each day and were mostly delicious + good location - just south of Condesa, only a few blocks walk away from the bars and restaurants there, felt like a nice, quiet, safe neighbourhood + excellent value + the bed was massive and really comfortable with decent sheets + lots of mirrors in the room including a full length + we went for a room with a whirlpool bath - The bath itself looked dated, but it was clean and nice and the jets strong! + the room and hotel in general were clean and tidy. Some relatively minor points I only include in case they help others: - there was a nespresso maker in the room but it leaked too much to be usable and only one cup was provided (we were two and had booked a double occupancy room so this was a bit odd). The capsule I used wasn’t replaced, although I didn’t say anything as I don’t really drink coffee. Tea bags were provided but I don’t know how you make tea with a nespresso machine (?!) so that seemed a bit weird. A mini fridge in the room would’ve been a nice touch. - there was a water dispenser in the executive suite where our room was located but it didn’t work for the duration of our stay. The hotel provided plastic bottled water in the room and replenished these daily, but we are trying to cut our use of single use plastics so ended up buying 10L bottles from the nearby OXXO store to refill our own bottles - the blackout curtains in the room were effective but the window in the jacuzzi bath bit of the room had no window covering so the light came in from there (no door between bedroom and jacuzzi bath) - some road noise (but probably to be expected as it is a city centre hotel!)! The only other thing I will mention - and this is entirely specific to the timing of our stay - is that the bar/restaurant/room service were closed when we arrived on New Year’s Eve (and the front desk advised that most of the things in the area would also be closed that night so we just had to go straight to bed) and again closed for much of New Year’s Day. In fact a lot of CDMX was closed or out of action on New Year’s Day itself so just be aware of that if booking your trip on those dates! Overall we had a pleasant stay here, it was very good value for the price if you want a base for exploring the city and the staff were lovely and accommodating. I would come back again.

Good apartments close to enough to everything to walk. We had some noice issues though, as they had trouble opening the door of the apartment next to us and it took them two hours from 10 pm to midnight to fix it. Didn’t catch much sleep accordingly.

I was pleased that this hotel opened recently in the same block as my cousin's apartment. The hotel is beautiful, with every modern amenity. It is an all suite hotel, so I had a spacious area with a kitchen, desk, sofa and breakfast bar as well as a large bedroom and bathroom with a rain shower, with which I had no trouble as did a previous guest. There were locks on all three doors, so even though I felt very safe in any case, this was extra security. The gentleman on the 3-11 shift was especially helpful and gracious. My only complaint was a yappy dog in the neighborhood who made his presence known for a couple of hours every evening. At less than $600 for a 6 night stay, I would certainly return as it is near shopping, restaurants and convenient transportation. Bravo, J. Towers.

There are two Regency hotels in Mexico City, one of which was more expensive and had a higher rating, but I booked this one because it was new. I wanted to use the Regency Club, so I booked a suite, but when I checked in, trip.com and the hotel were not connected, and I had to wait 30 minutes for the reservation to be completed. In the end, there was an event at the nearby WTC that day, so all the suites were fully booked, and instead, a club room was available, but only a twin was available, not the king I had requested. The room I was assigned to was on the 14th floor of the club floor, which was spacious but had no bathtub, and the door separating the bathroom and the room did not close properly, so I wondered if it was really new. Maybe the hotel name was renewed? ? The cleaning was poor, and there was trash left in the trash can and food scraps on the ground. The free breakfast in the lounge was poor, and there was no one there at cocktail time, and there was dried cheese, ham, desserts, etc., which was disappointing. The gym had no changing room or shower room. I was not sure if the spa was open. There is a supermarket nearby and the bus is right in front.

Our stay was completely satisfying, the whole hotel staff ( reception, bellboys, cleaners, etc) has broad availability to help with all the needs as well as great hospitality training. The managers Octavio and Eduardo welcomed us and fulfilled our requests every time. During breakfast the chefs came out to ask how everything was. The hotel is new, modern and in perfect conditions. Cleaning was impecable and furniture is tremendously comfortable. Congratulations to Novotel on this new resort.

My room was spotless and the food was outstanding. With all the food options close the hotel, I found myself going back to eat on property, especially for dinner. It is a lovely little hotel with helpful staff all around. I felt safe and well cared for during my stay there and would recommend to anyone traveling to Mexico City for business or pleasure.
