The location of the hotel was amazing, right at the centre, quick access for shopping and about 6mins walk from railway and bus station. The staff was super friendly, they greet you everytime you enter the hotel. It feels very homely! Will definitely visit again if I visit bath :)

We booked directly, in January, with the hotel taking up an offer for our March stay. This is a 5 star hotel and we upgraded our room a few days before arrival. The room was lovely with a comfortable 4 poster bed and all facilities as expected. Breakfast was not as we had expected for a 5 star hotel. We had to choose a time to eat, did the earlier people have all the yoghurt? By the time (8.45) we arrived we were scraping the bottom of the deep jar and our cooked breakfast was a meagre portion. The potato cake was very thin, like cardboard, a single thin rasher of bacon and a slice of mushroom. Thank goodness I asked for a grilled tomato! We had to ask for toast that 1st morning. The coffee pot was barely enough for one, we had to ask for more! We had booked to eat in the Vellore Restaurant for my birthday but decided to cancel this, as seemed expensive and breakfast had put us off! So we chose to eat from the bar menu instead, taking the meal in the lounge. Unfortunately the room was pretty cold, we heard other guests complaining about this. Guests can ask for fresh milk to go with the complimentary tea and coffee, but be aware a tiny jug of milk is £6. However the staff were friendly and extremely helpful and the hotel is well situated for the town.

Last month we stayed in the Premier Inn 100 yds down the road from the Hampton and boy the hotels are like chalk and cheese with the Hampton winning hands down. Reception brighter with plenty of cheerful receptionists to check you in. Rooms are well laid out with everything you need including a safe, fridge, hair drier and iron. Lovely big walk in shower with plenty of toiletries to hand and lovely fluffy towels and believe it or not flannels. Two sets are laid out in the bathroom ready for use. We had a twin room and found the beds to be larger than an average single bed, very comfortable and lovely bed linen. The TV on the wall is huge with plenty of channels to keep you entertained. Wifi is free. As for the breakfast well we found plenty of choice - sausages, mushrooms, beans, hash browns and scrambled egg. There was toast, croissants and muffins, fresh fruit, cold meats and cheese and I also spied pots of Oats so Simple you could make up and a waffle maker which was very popular. Given that this was included in the price (unlike the competitor where you have to pay an additional £9.50 for breakfast) we found it was a good enough start to our day. Location is great with the only downside, as with most city hotels, there is no on site parking. Quids cheaper than the competitor when we booked what is not to like?

I booked a night in Lucknam Park for Christmas staying in one of the Country Rooms. I have visited Lucknam many times for spa days and their restaurants but wanted to experience an overnight stay. Firstly, I was contacted a few days after my booking to ensure that I knew the brasserie and spa were closed during our stay. I did know about the brasserie but it wasn't clear that the spa was closed. However, not a huge issue and we changed the date to two weeks later at an additional charge of £26. Check in isn't until 3pm but we arrived early so we could spend the day in the spa. The front desk staff (Gareth) was lovely and extremely helpful. He charged us the £26, apologised for the inconvenience of having to change the date and told us that the spa actually reopened a few days early due to the work being completed. We made our way over to the spa through the beautiful and historical grounds. There is building work in the brasserie (connected to the spa) but they have managed this in a respectful way. After arriving at the spa; we were informed that the hydro pool jets were not working (extremely annoying when you have a bad back) and the door that takes you outside in the hydro pool was also broken. Hmm not great on a windy day in February to get out of a lovely warm pool and standing dripping wet outside. Next into the changing room; you are provided with a towel, flip flops and a dressing gown. Lockers are free. It was extremely clean and plenty of showers with toiletries. However, a few negatives, they either need to install underfloor heating or rethink the flooring. It was extremely cold to stand on. The toilet paper was not replenished during the day. They no longer have Dyson hairdryers available (I believe they are now babylis - not a huge deal; just an observation). Next into the pool. As I previously said; the hydro pool wasn't working. Unfortunately neither was the amethyst room also wasn't working. There was workman in and out a lot during the day. Lot's of free water. Any other drink can be purchased from the reception. We ordered coffee - filter coffee that arrives in a cardboard coffee cup and cost £3.50. We were slightly peckish and decided to get dressed and wander over to the lounge for a sandwich. It was a big portion and very tasty. We finally checked into our room around 4pm. We gave the feedback regarding the spa (the slight disappointment for the spa being open but actually not being fully functional and being charged extra for this). We were immediately refunded the extra charge and the team were extremely apologetic. Gareth then took us over to our room. Well, all I can say is WOW! What a room. Due to the hotel being quiet we were upgraded to a junior suite on the court yard. It was beautiful. Half a bottle of champagne, a small tin of biscuits and fruit were waiting for us. The hotel grounds are beautiful and the hotel looks impressive from the outside. The reception area also looked nice and the staff were efficient checking us in. However as soon as we opened the door to go to our room it went downhill rather quickly. Stair carpets looked dirty and old and scuffed paint everywhere on the woodwork. For £130 a night we expected the room to be at least clean and comfortable so we weren't too worried about the room. What a shock......it was awful. We found a wood lice scurrying along the carpet in amongst the thick layer of dust and paint flakes. Carpet was full of stains and felt sticky. Furnishings were old and grubby. The headboard was a fake bamboo concoction......very strange. The bathroom wasn't much better with dust layers on pipes and paint peeling off the radiator. Also the room was cold and felt damp. The heating must of been switched off as nothing appeared to work. Found an old radiator in the cupboard but didn't dare touch it as it looked like it had been in there for years. Damp patch in the bathroom didn't add to the ambiance. It was just horrible. In the morning there was no lights working in the bathroom......very odd. Tea tray in the room was okay and there were 2 bottles of water. Breakfast the next morning was self-serve. Staff were nice and helpful. Breakfast was okay but nothing special. Cheap pbread for toast and looked like defrosted pastries. No plant based butter which was rather annoying after being told via email they cater fully for plant based diets. We would never ever stay here again......we couldn't wait to check out. I felt dirty and itchy when I left.......not pleasant.

Recommend! Perfect location, very central. We were able to check in early as the room was ready before the expected time and we were offered a free upgrade to the superior twin room (booked the twin room). Good beds, comfy pillows, nice toiletries. The terrace looked like a nice place to sit and have a drink, though we didn't have time as there's plenty to do and see in Bath.

Beautiful building in stunning grounds with a very stately home appearance. Staff were friendly and helpful, we stayed in a suite which was very luxurious but somewhat confusingly does not have a room number but the name of a poet, however when we were handed the keys the receptionist only mentioned the room number…several minutes later after wandering around in circles looking for the rooms marked as the location for 22-27 we discovered that the e-key wallet had the name Kipling as well as 26…that made it a bit easier. We eat at the restaurant the first evening and the bistro the second evening, food was very good and service quick and attentive at both locations, however the lighting at both was a bit too romantic for my eyes and i struggled to read the menu in the “atmospheric” lighting particularly in the Atrium Bistro. One of the reasons we booked was because of the EV Charging facility and although not a fault of the hotel it was very annoying to see vehicles parked at this location who either could not use the Tesla chargers (other manufacturers EV’s) or had parked at these location with 3 pin plug connections draped out of windows and taking up several spaces. I did actually manage to get a charge the two nights we were there but people should be a bit more thoughtful when using these facilities and park elsewhere once charged or if they cannot charge. The management seemed to shrug their shoulders at this when I complained. The room was of a good size and fittings were excellent along with the en-suite, The windows rattled a bit at night but you have to expect this at this type of building, very comfortable bed which was very large . A good location for touring the area with Gloucester Cathedral, Wotton on the edge, Westonbirt Arboretum all within a short drive.
