3.5/5Fine, clean. Room had NO air conditioning (this was disclosed in the fine print, though) so it was suffocating. Room had no fridge, microwave, just barebones safe. The elevator was hilariously slow taking around 5 minutes. Location was perfect for any late night restaurant bites.

3.2/5First off, the location. Very convenient and I always try to stay around Times Square so I can be close to the theatres. But there was LOUD music around the hotel that made it IMPOSSIBLE to sleep! Secondly, I called beforehand to request an early check in due to my flight getting in earlier. I specifically asked if there was a charge and was told no. When I arrived at the hotel, the attendant was incredibly rude. She said there was a 50.00 charge for early check in and I said "oh, they didn't tell me that on the phone" to which they replied "well I'm telling you now." I then requested a fridge for my insulin and was told they don't have fridges. I finally made it to my room which was HOT. The AC was not working so they sent up Maintenance who called Front Desk to tell them to move me to another room. The room was clean and pleasant. It's New York, the rooms are not going to be that big! Guests and employees slammed doors and talked so loudly the entire time. I got no sleep on this trip. It was a convenient walk but that's about it. I wasn't impressed with my stay and likely won't return to The Gallivant, which is unfortunate because I have heard good things and was excited about my stay.

The Gallivant Hotel was overall an “ok” experience. Their website indicated they had a fitness room. When I got there I found out it was closed for repairs. Then I got up to my room only to find a room that was not air conditioned, even though I was told they had air conditioning. Ended up being moved to another room where there was air conditioning. They are currently installing air conditioners in all the rooms. The shower was the best part of the room!! Service overall was good in spite of no fitness room and having to change rooms. The location is VERY good, especially if you are wanting to experience a lot of theater! Also, in spite of some inconveniences, the price was very reasonable for NYC in midtown. I might come back. Maybe in a few months the fitness room will reopen and all rooms will be air conditioned.
