ArcoSodi Hotel Boutique

BE AWARE. The hotel staff robbed our room and stole about 2000 US dollars cash and our US passports. We found out as we were about to check out and travel to another state. We called the police who were expectedly useless! A security camera had a recorded all movements during our stay. We had to plead with the staff to look at the recording which showed that only the cleaning staff entered the room in our absence. The hotel manager was not on the premises declined to speak with us and come to deal with the crime situation. He only showed up when the police came and refused to even acknowledge the problem or even speak to us. We were about to lose our flights and our hotel reservations in the next city had we stayed to pursue any resolution with the hotel. Worst part of this is is that this property felt very secure with a gated security door that is monitored 24/7. Instead, we were robbed by the staff we trusted with our safety and the safety of our belongings. The manager of the hotel should have investigated and found the thief on his team. Instead he refused to even show his face at the hotel. We asked to speak with the hotel owners but the staff refused to provide the contact info. Owners will hopefully read this and take corrective measures to ensure no other guest are violated and no more crimes committed. At a minimum they should refund cost of our stay. The staff, except for the manager and the thief, were super kind and just wonderful, especially Mitzi.

We really enjoyed our stay at the ArcoSodi. The hotel is about 5 or 6 blocks from the historic center of Oaxaca City. To me this is a plus as it is much more quiet and tranquil when you want to escape the city. The hotel has the added benefit of being close to the Merced Market which I liked better for eating than the 20 de Noviembre market in the center. The rooms were comfortable and the inner courtyard was great for enjoying the included breakfast and for sharing a drink in the afternoon. What I really enjoyed the most was the staff. The staff really made us feel welcome and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. I would definitely return to the ArcoSodi again on my next visit to Oaxaca. It should be better as the hotel is in the process of adding more suites and a new rooftop bar. My only two issues were: 1) the locks on the doors were a bit awkward and according to the owner will be replaced and 2) one time the water ran out while I was taking a shower although my spouse went to the front desk and got it going again.

Rather small hotel (only about six rooms), well maintained and with an extremely nice staff. We particularly liked the breakfast setting (one big table for all guests in the center of the kitchen). When you‘re at the hotel, watch out for the jasmin smell… it‘s real, coming from a big jasmin plant.

We loved staying here. The place is so well situated, and the staff are so friendly and work hard to ensure you feel comfortable. The room was cozy and whilst on the smaller side, the space is very functional with the added shelves and hooks. It was a sanctuary to come back to after exploring the city. Everything is kept so clean. The bed was super comfy and the shower had good water pressure which is quite rare in Oaxaca. We would definitely stay here again!

Charming place. Small which we like and we felt safe walking around the area. We stayed in the Sunflower suite which is situated at the front of the hotel. Bed and pillows are comfortable. The shower is great. Hot water takes a minute but always there. There's hangers and extra storage in the spacious bathroom. I was initially concerned being close to the road but they did a nice job with the double doors to help block some street noise. And after the first night I didn't notice. The road is busy during the day but quiets down at night so I slept well. The stay included breakfast which was fresh fruit, yogurt, and granola, scrambled eggs, toast, coffee and tea. They refilled my water bottle daily with filtered water plus they provided two new water bottles daily in the room. I would have preferred a glass jug to cut down on plastics. There are high top tables and chairs in the bar area. It would also be nice to have additional outdoor seating (not against the other rooms) to relax without having to sit in your room or high top table. Overall for a short stay, I would recommend.

Room on small side with no drawers for storage So we more or less lived out of our suitcases Staff was very helpful and accommodating Rooms were clean and comfortable Breakfast was nice and freshly cooked All in all a pleasant place to stay Location was convenient and many dining choices in walking distance City Center was a 20 minute walk

I cannot imagine a better place to stay in Oaxaca City except maybe if you pay multiple times more! The staff was extremely helpful: when we wanted unsweetened Greek yogurt Alfredo at the front desk sent a moto to a supermarket to get what we wanted. When I wanted to buy a special mescal, they have several to taste and a free one as a welcome!, he had someone deliver what I wanted in no time. There is a communal refrigerator and freezer at the bar perfectly adequate for the 5 or 6 rooms. Alfredo writes your room name on each item in this unit. The room was perfect for us with a queen bed, coffee maker, etc. The bathroom was very modern, clean, functional with the softest towels we had anywhere except at home. There is a garden and a bar area where one can sit. The internet is very good! The location is very central, walking distance to every attraction in the city center. The street can get busy during the day and parking can be an issue during the day - also for taxis that need to stop to pick you up.

Stayed here for 5 nights in the King bed room and would highly recommend this hotel! The service was amazing, the best during our entire trip, and really personal (there are only a few rooms). Max greeted us with a smile every night, chatted to us, and helped us with absolutely anything we needed. The place was v clean and the room was spacious. The breakfast included was superb (coffee, juice, fruits, eggs done in a variety of ways), it felt like we had a private chef who changed the menu every day, I’m sure you could also have as much as you can eat. Note there was a little noise from the road and the room was close to the reception, so if you are sensitive to noise would recommend asking for one of the other rooms. In terms of location it’s perfect, a safe 5-10 min walk to the center but far enough away for peace and quiet.

This is a great place to stay. It is located on Avenida Abasolo which is slightly less than ten minutes from Santo Domingo Plaza, the tourist central zone of Oaxaca (fronting the historic church) and a little less than 15 minute walk from the Zocalo, the other pole of the Centro where visitors are likely to walk. There are about 6 rooms arranged around a lush grassy patio where breakfast is served, one of the highlights of my day. The rooms are ultra-modern with sunscreens and curtains. It had the best wifi I experienced in Mexico with a router in the room. The rooms have AC and are quiet. Alfredo, the manager, is cheerful and and helpful. Both times I asked for early taxis, they were waiting outside . The price was reasonable even before considering the included breakfast which is more than adequate.
