Best Hotels in Padenghe sul Garda

We booked directly through the hotel's website. When we arrived there, we were informed that the facility consists of two complexes. Once from the apartments/hotel rooms directly at the reception and across the street there is another apartment complex (also with a pool). Everything is clean from the outside. Then we got our apartment and were shocked. The apartment was totally shabby and dirty (shower head holder about to break and rusted, mold in the shower, dirty furniture, the sofa bed with a mattress about 5 cm thick and with steel springs in the back every night, etc.). Not even close to the 4 stars from the website, more like the 90s. When we reported this to the hotel owner, we learned that most of the apartments in the second complex do not belong to the hotel, but to private owners and are only available through the hotel. There was no mention of this when booking. So you can be surprised whether you get a clean, well-kept and modern apartment or not. However, the hotel owner also confirmed to us that only the photos of the hotel's nicer apartments are shown on the Internet. After we spoke to the hotel owner a second time and told him that we wouldn't have booked this apartment for half the price, he offered us a change of apartment for the last night; we couldn't do it earlier because nothing was available. He also offered to refund part of the price, but we are still waiting for that. Because the apartments in the second complex are mostly privately owned by Italians, they reserve the pool loungers with towels in the morning and you only have the choice of getting up early and making the reservation yourself or walking to the hotel and swimming at the pool . Although early is relative, the pool can unfortunately only be used from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The air conditioning also smelled, even after long periods of operation. The furniture and the whole room were dirty and there was no vacuum cleaner. There weren't enough cutlery and crockery, not even for 4 people. Mold in the coffee maker. Cleaning and towels were only changed once during a week's stay, and that only after 5 days. The staff was very friendly and polite! The place is relatively quiet and you can walk to the beach in 10 minutes. There's not much more going on there. We would choose a slightly busier location in the future.

I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel as the service from everyone, including the manager, was amazing. The customer service training was clearly embedded, even the cleaning staff said good morning. The outdoor pool area along with the views of the lake were fantastic. There was a lovely promenade walk at the back of the hotel by the lake, The food at breakfast was outstanding and the bar service was excellent too. A nice touch carrying our drinks to the room of an evening. Drinks costs more here than the local resturants Points to note: The hotel is a 50 min walk from the main town Desenzano. There is a clear path to follow The ferry timetables change in the winter and we didnt get to the north of the lake because of the time it would take on the ferry. The hotel offered one free shuttle bus service to town thereafter its 25 euros Download the Arriva bus time table, the buses are 95% reliable. Bus stops are outside the hotel and are only about 4 euros. Will need cash With hindsight we should of travelled around more and stayed in the nearby cities. From Desenzano station, Verona 30 mins, Venice 90 min, Milan 60 mins. Great Pizza place next to the hotel - Il Lido A n excellent location to see some of the best sights of Italy .

Great hotel and lovely atmosphere. All it was very good also the food. My children really enjoyed tge animation after dinner time. We had a departure quite early in the morning and they prepared for us 2 big breakfast. Wonderful service. I'll come back for sure.

Everything was just excellent -staff support with multiple items- booked with hotel reception the transfer from Verona, ordering procedures in the hotel spa, order with hotel discount aquaria. I requested a room with a bath tub, and they recommended me a different room, even chipper, they replaced my booking to a suitable one. They have an amazing breakfast. Hotel location was just excellent- in a most beautiful place with lake view, close to Aquaria. On a piazza close to hotel there were multiple performances- like opera singing, etc. Hotel spa was just perfect. Some things to know before booking- they dont have a tea kettle in their rooms- so I took some mine traveler kettle.

This 3-4 star hotel is exactly as described and reviewed. So don’t expect a 5 star luxury palace. But if you want a good hotel in a quiet position, a 10-15min walk to the centre of Desenzano, then this fits the bill. We arrived earlier than regular check in but were met with friendly reception staff. I had emailed Hotel Oliveto knowing this and as promised could leave bags at reception and use the pool and pool bar till our room was ready. I forgot to pack a towel in hand luggage so rented pool towels (€3 per towel for the entire stay - not unreasonable) The pool is 25x10m, clean, not overly chlorinated and a lovely 28 degrees. It has spa corners to relax in and plentiful loungers and umbrellas. The family friendly hotel had lots of kids but the pool was never overly crowded, nor was the space around it. There’s no view of the lake but it’s reasonably private and I think it’s fine. The pool bar is open from midday till 7 and serves simple snack food (sandwiches, toasties, chips etc along with a reasonable range of drinks) A separate shaded seating area means you can eat away from the pool. When we got into the room, it was one of the older styles (as expected). The new refurbished ones look on the photos to be of a much more modern and luxury type but the standard double we had was as per the photos. Given I wasn’t planning to do much in the room other than sleep, wake up and shower, it was fine. The bathroom is dated but there’s plenty of hot water, a reasonable shower, very good AC and despite the previous reviews I found the WiFi to be pretty good. The breakfast was varied and as expected at a 4 star hotel. Plenty of choice with juice, coffees and teas, cereals, sweet pastries and cakes, continental meats and cheeses, yoghurts, fresh fruits and limited cooked breakfast items. We stayed when the hotel was full and although the dining area was full, we never had to wait for a table. Serving up till 10am meant we could lie in too. The other hotel facilities we used was the gym. A reasonable place with 2 running machines, a static cycle, rowing machine, a multi-weights machine, bench, free weights, kettles, Swiss balls and mat. Well air conditioned, you needed to book (COVID restrictions) but we were always able to get a slot we wanted. There was an indoor pool, and spa circuit but it was so nice and hot outside, we never tried them. The other reviews seem to be positive about them. We never had dinner at the hotel either. Desenzano del Garda is a town at the lower West corner of Lake Garda. It has some upmarket shops but in general is a laid back place with lots of restaurants. Don’t expect trendy fashionista bars or nightclubs. It’s clearly fueled by tourism but again doesn’t feel overly crowded or intimidating. Just a nice compact place. It’s a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel to the town centre which was never a problem. The town has a rocky beach with lounger/shade hire, pedalos and beachside restaurants. The fabric of the hotel is very good. Clean and fresh and so it should be as I believe it has recently been refurbished. If you want a hotel where there is daytime/night time entertainment this is not for you. It is generally a quiet relaxing hotel. Children are allowed but they will have to provide their own entertainment. There are three pools, one in the spa, one adults only and one that children can use. The pool bar was not in operation while we were there. The hotel is a 50 min walk from the town of Lazise on reasonable paths that are shared with cyclists. But you take your life in your own hands as the cyclists and scooter riders just fly past with no warning. A taxi into town costs 15-20 euro. There is no shuttle bus at the hotel even though it indicates there is on the trip advisor hotel listing. And to the reviewer who says it is a 5 min walk to the lake..you are wrong. I would say it is at least 15 mins and that includes a shortcut through a vineyard and a campsite. The rooms are a decent size. Storage for clothes could be improved with more drawer/shelf space. There is a fridge (no mini bar) which on arrival has two bottles of water in. It seems pot luck as to whether the water is replenished. A good size TV but maybe only 3 English channels (news). The bedside lamps are quite dim...not enough light to read by. All rooms have a balcony or terrace for ground floor. There was no milk to make hot drinks. We purchased some from the local supermarket. Breakfast is more or less typical for a holiday hotel. Fresh fruit..well melon and pineapple, yogurts. Continental style with meats and cheeses plus a pastry section. Don't expect a full English here.... there is bacon, fried egg and sausage but that is all. The food was a decent quality. There is a gripe I do have in that when the bread ran out we were tod it was finished and no more would be coming out.....this wasn't at the end of the breakfast sitting but with still 45 mins to go. NOT ACCEPTABLE. One thing that we observed was a family who loaded up breakfast food of all description including fresh fruit, as well as taking water bottles from the display and then blatantly took it back to their rooms. They took plates piled high and filled bags. It wasn't as if they were having breakfast in their rooms as they were eating breakfast in the dining room. They were clearly taking food to eat later in the day! The staff knew but did nothing. Maybe that is why they ran out of bread. We only dined in the evening twice. The menu is not extensive .....in fact there were only two choices of main meal. Other course were labelled starter, first course, second course, so maybe you are supposed to have one of each course because the size of the main dish is not huge. If you have a decent appetite you will need more than one course. The main problem with this hotel is the lack of staff. There was not enough waiting staff at all so tables were delayed in getting cleared and more importantly food

The location on a traffic-rich axis is acceptable for unique stay at closed windows. The quality and equipment of the hotel is excellent. The same can be said for breakfast.
