Crowne Plaza Paris République, an IHG Hotel

Paris|1.12km from Les Caves Saint Gilles
We stayed six nights at this fairly spartan property that was fitted with basic room attributes including a small refrigerator, a hair dryer and a tiny safe. We requested a coffee maker and received a hot pot with instant coffee. Getting an iron in the room proved a bit of an ordeal. The room was clean and the beds were quite good. Hotel staff was uniformly convivial, accommodating and helpful with exception of an encounter with the night manager (more on that later). Only one low voltage outlet in the bathroom was provided that could power an electric razor. My daughter brought a dual-voltage curling iron and hair straightener that could not be used in the bathroom due to lack of an electrical outlet. Staff ultimately provided an extension cord to be strung from the nightstand, and over the bed that my daughter was able to use to reach a wall mirror in the bedroom. We had the misfortune to be at the property during the annual Pride celebration at Place de la Republique directly in front of the hotel. My wife has mobility issues and we had to push through hundreds of drunken celebrants to get to the only entrance to the hotel. Scary stuff getting pushed along by a mob where my wife could have fallen and been trampled. I understand the Pride celebration is a public event but its a scheduled event that the hotel could have alerted clients to and made provisions to have opened a guarded entrance on the backside of the building away from the inebriated mob. With an early morning departure to the airport, I went to the desk the night before to check out so we could leave quickly the following morning. The front desk clerk advised that the hotel had my card on file and my e-mail address so they would send me the bill thereafter with nothing additionally to be done the next morning - just drop the key and run. As we were leaving early the next morning the night manager told me that I couldn't leave because I hadn't settled my bill. He inferred I was skipping out without paying the bill. I recounted the discussion I had the previous night and he repeated firmly that the bill needed to be closed out before we could leave. It was an uncomfortable encounter that was unnecessary. Somebody needs training here and its not the client. In summary, I'd say this property lacked many expected elements for the price point and as such could only describe it as providing moderate value. The lack of provisions to accommodate client access during the Pride celebration and the check-out snafu made it seem that they were somehow new to the game.

Review from Singapore ! I arrive 8am. Too early for my checkin . Went to counter. As I cannot speak French but I am fluent in English . Was kind of worried. I was attended to by a very very nice lady with a big big smile ! I did not managed to ask her name but she was slightly plump, wear glasses and long hair and she cycle to work . She did the luggage storage for me . Of coz I did the labeling and putting onto the luggage myself . Then when I ask for recommendation of a place to eat , she recommend my cafe D industries ..(hope I did not spell it wrongly ). Very near to hotel . Room was very well equipped. Small kitchen . Microwave . Iron board. Separate toilet . Shower room . Everything was just nice and Cosy. Very near to many Metro station. Need to supermarket . Turn right walk down is Main Street. A lot of food hotel has own launderette so you can also wash clothing in hotel . ( but need to download apps, very easy.) Thursday just outside the hotel have a long stretch of morning market . Nice to walk . Cook food. Raw food. Fruits. Just like market . Nice experience . Overall, I am very happy with the hotel , the location . The well equipment and room space was nice To the management, please convey my thanks to the 2 staff below . . To reemphasize, 2 staff left a dee impression for me , the counter long hair plump lady. I give her service and kindness = 9.5/10 for everything including let me check in luggage, show my where to eat, let me check in 2 pm. Her smile was lovely And before I check out , a short cleaning staff ( black guy) assisted me with the launderette. Very helpful . External - good. Pretty and modern Reception - small. The breakfast area is made up of random tables and mini stools. Stairway - narrow and only allow one pax to walk Lift - narrow and super restricting with no ventilation. Allows one large luggage and human to stand. Staff - the night shift team has no empathy and not service oriented. The grumpy bald old man has the worst attitude. I wanted to check the invoice before I make payment for my 5 nights of stay and he demanded that I pay first before he can print out. What attitude is that?! One redeeming factor is the day time team managed by Gwen. She is an angel and god sent. She tried to help as much as possible and took time to explain. As she was on vacation leave, we only get to see such warm hospitality on our 4th day. Imaging the relief I felt after talking to her about the AC issues. Room - clean and tiny. Does not allow us to open our luggage as the space left to walk is super minimal. Shower area is 2 steps away from the foot of the bed. Toilet is tucked in a corner one step from the head of the bed. What I was super upset about: The AC is spoilt on the first day I arrived. It got “fixed” after dinner and we slept well. The ridiculous part came. The AC is spoilt again on the 2nd night. The reception staff lied and say the entire hotel is affected. We slept without the AC and the room has no ventilation. It is unsafe to open the balcony door as it looks easy for people to climb up. 3rd night when we came back, the AC has issues. I called reception and it got resolved 5 min later. In the middle of the night, the AC is switched off with no ventilation in the room again. ==> Gwen subsequently explained on our 4th night that the hotel is on heater mode. Hence there will not be any AC. As for the ventilation, she confirmed that each room has a small ventilator to allow air flow which felt non-existence to me. I would highly NOT recommend this hotel. After a day of touristy day and a day of enjoying the beautiful city, the least I need from a hotel is a good night sleep. This hotel bed is too soft and the AC is not enabled. In my definition, when a hotel does not provide 24h AC should not be given hotel status.

The location is very good, there are supermarkets, restaurants, bakery, food shops nearby, and the room is in good condition. Because it's a family of five, I got two rooms, but the room is not big, but there is no inconvenience. The front desk staff is very friendly. I will catch it here next time I come to Paris.

The room is very clean and tidy, and it is quite big. The point is that he has a very large living room . Very comfortable and convenient. Next time I travel to Europe, I will definitely use it again.

The location is still very good. Near the Bastille Square, friends who like the tide brand are suitable to live here because the supreme shop is 5-8 minutes walk from here. However, the hotel should not be too high and expect a 7-day level, but it is still very clean.

I must strongly praise this hotel! Stayed here for 4 nights. At first I looked at this hotel with a good value for money, but I know that the hotel location is not very close to the center, but after checking in, I found Line 8 within 3 minutes. In fact, the subway is very convenient! The hotel is also decorated in a classic French style with a very good environment. The lobby on the first floor is beautiful. Although the room is small, it is well-equipped and very clean. Actually, two people stayed away. Even though we stayed for 4 nights, people would come to clean the room every day. Some of the small details can be seen more clearly. Staff cleaned very carefully! The front desk staff will greet you enthusiastically every day. During the strike, they will tell us how to arrange a trip. You must answer our questions! Such a good environment and service, and the price is not high, sincerely hope that this hotel can be seen by more people! !!

Review from Singapore . Stayed 21-24 mar 22. Service at ground 0- staff was able to communicate well in English and very helpful. Help me with luggage storage , getting transport and advise to airport . The bar counter staff even gave me ice with cup when I requested a few time . Room- room was small. But they have luggage storage below bed . No phone from room to ground 0. For myself , I have to keep window open to have more ventilation . Toilet was clean and provided nice bath gel and conditioner . location - near to metro . Have 2 supermarket (Franprix)… cross the road and walk abit and you have tons of eateries . Even the laundromat also walking distance only . Very good location ! Overall, nice for a short stay with less luggage . Due to room space . But the service and location was good . Something to add on, not a real major setback but when I was given the welcome drink card. I was ask to sit at one corner on the bar counter by one staff and then no one attended to me for a good 10 min. Until I gave up and walk away .
