Sarayi Hotel was in a great spot with a cafe at the front of the building that served a great breakfast. There was parking available at the rear of the building which was very convenient. Restaurants and cafes were all nearby , you just had to choose left or right. We were in a motel style room on the ground floor for 4 nights , the bed was good and there was a small courtyard area. laundry facilities available. only negative was the foyer lights are on all night

The lighting in the bathroom could be better by changing the globes to LED ones. There was no oven in the room, a bench top one would be good for people that want to eat in.

As an older couple we usually wait a few days to allow the holiday euphoria to subside before writing a review. Our opinion of our 10 day holiday at The Reef House Hotel in Palm Cove has not diminished. The Reef House is the older colonial style of hotel we love. It is very welcoming, comfortable and homely but has modern facilities. The meals are top quality and exceptionally well presented. We could not find fault with any of the wonderful staff or the services which were provided with a smile every time both before and during our stay. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble – like providing some new tackle for the fishing rods that are available free to use or helping to work out the combination lock on the free bikes. The on –site wellness centre is a wonderful addition. The fact that guests must be over 16 years old to stay meant that we could enjoy peace and quiet during meals in the wonderful open dining area or around the two pools and spas. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we are organising our return for next year.

We had high expectations given previous reviews and the marketing photos. We were so disappointed. The pool is very small and was over crowded - there’s only 6 - 8 pool lounges and two small tables! Children were literally swimming on top of each other. The hotel is dated and the common areas need a good clean. The large 1990s DVD collection at reception that can be rented for $5 a day is the perfect example 🤣. We had poor service with no one answering the reception phone and the back in 5 minutes sign constantly on the desk. There are so many other beautiful apartment hotels in Trinity Brach and Palm Cove in the same price range or cheaper.

The biggest attraction of this hotel is it's location in the rain forest. You are up on a mountain side. The rooms are bungalow style so you are nestled in the jungle. The main lobby/restaurant is open with beautiful views of the mountains and water below. They do have a private beach which I believe is not true of other hotels in Port Douglas. We thought everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful. We did take the golf cart to the room at night and they always had someone readily available. They had a beautiful pool that is shaped like waterfalls and ponds. Cute touch. As others have said in the reviews. The rooms and the decor are dated and tired. They definitely need a refresh. The location can also be a negative. Unless you have rented a car, you rely on the private drivers or the shuttle buses that come to the hotel. It gets very expensive. This is even to go into Port Douglas to have dinner or shop - it is about 20 mins in the van. Overall we enjoyed our stay and like everywhere in Australia, the people made the difference.
