Amadea - Cityhotel Salzburg

The room was fantastic and very clean. Staff was very friendly and hotel is close to the Christmas Market and train station. Added bonus was the bag of fresh baked goods in the morning and the coffee maker on the 1st floor. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to Salzburg.

The hotel is in a good location, 20 minutes walk from the railway station and 15 from the city centre. It's a 'staff-free' hotel. You get a code to get in and a WhatsApp contact if you have any problems. There's free coffee and fruit tea, plus chocolates and sweets, but no normal (breakfast) tea. The booking is room only, but you get a random pastry left outside your room each morning, which is a nice touch. We had room 3 on the ground floor. The view out of the window is of the back door of the kitchen of the Indian restaurant next door, but we didn't have a problem with noise or odours from there. The decor is very nice. The only problem we had was that one of our sheets was stained. This wasn't a fresh stain, the sheets had been washed but this stain hadn't come out. It took a couple of tries via WhatsApp to get this changed. Otherwise, everything was great.

Nice little hotel with a comfortable bed. Self check-in was straightforward, and all information was provided in advance. Easy and frequent bus links to the city centre. The morning pastry was unexpected and a nice touch. There was easy access to a good coffee machine on the landing. Also a selection of sweets and biscuits. The windows were very small and low down - so the lack of a view was disappointing. The picture shows the view near the hotel entrance leading towards the bus stop, which was nice to see.

This is not a hotel, it’s unstaffed. Room three’s window is 6 feet from the open kitchen of the adjacent Indian restaurant. Next the air-conditioner starts making. Interruptive.Brrrr noises every two seconds, even for an hour after it’s turned off. This for €125. I complained to the owner and I demanded a refund. I got it so I think you can guess my attitude to t.

My question is, what qualifies to be a hotel? And this is not. A motel is much better than this. If you came as a tired tourist and came across this unmanned place, you'll be lost. You ring the door bell near the side walks and be asked what is your code. You let yourself in into this sterile place and into your windowless room. Although the room had a sunroof ceiling, the ceiling was very low. I'm short but I hit my head walking this room. We didn't see anybody all throughout the time we were there. It was an unnerving experience. This not a hotel it is more of a cell. The WIFI was not working for me.

Although its a self-check in hotel, with no reception, we enjoyed our stay. The room is clean and tidy, got everything we needed.
