We have stayed a few times in San Sebastián at different places and I think we have finally found the perfect pension. It is ideally located for everything including the beach, old town, supermarket etc Pension Beunapas is very clean , really comfy beds, Netflix, Fridge, a coffee station outside the door and daily housekeeping . We were really looked after. We were 5 mins walk from the bus station and five minutes from everywhere we needed to go. Jon and his wife ( sorry I didn’t get her name ) were amazing and couldn’t do enough for you. We will most definitely be returning here👍

Very professionally run small hotel in perfect location in San Sebastián — you are basically in most charming and elegant part of town, surrounded by boutiques and beautiful squares. Old town is 2 blocks in one direction, the beach 2 blocks in the other. Walkable to visit/train station (10-15 minutes). The staff is superb, responsible and attentive. Though the building is old, the hotel is completely modern on the inside. Room is slightly small but not to the extremes we’ve experienced elsewhere, and the private terrace and bathroom were spacious. Great bargain — we would highly recommend.

La Concha Beach
The hotel has a very convenient location, but for customers by car it is extremely difficult, there are no free parking, there are all-day but expensive and those who are in the municipality even if you pay you can not stay more than three hours. There isn't even a discount if you are owner of Melia Reward. The building quite ugly, and the hotel area actualy start from sixt floor, the down floors are office place. The room quite small, but better from Trip Alicante. The bathroom is quite small and the shower is quite difficult to use and not at all modern. We got a corner room and we had small part see vew. Very close to the beach and the old town for a walk, but quite outdated in terms of furniture and amenities and quite expensive for what it offers
Pension la Perla

We asked for a quiet room and got one facing a big shop's delivery bay so lots of scraping metal, loud noises early in the morning. One night there was a noisy pop-up bar in the same street. Guests coming in late at night are like a stampede. Even with earplugs it was very audible. You can hear everthing, no soundproofing at all. The so called luxury double room at a whopping 189€ per night not including breakfasts is smallish and worse for wear and tear especially the small bathroom. The water leaked from the toilet, the hook on which the hairdryer was hung up, broke off one night. It fell to the ground and woke us up. You have to pay at arrival and not traditionally when you check out...now we know why. On the plus side: friendly staff, rather clean and good location. But Donostia is small and very easy to walk around so most places are well located. Maybe it's because we're a bit older (fifties/sixties) that we are more sensitive to these things but it also means we've stayed at much better places at this price. In Bilbao we stayed in a very good, quiet 4 star hotel in the city centre at less than in La Perla so I would suggest you stay in Bilbao and take the bus to San Sebastian at 14€ for a 75 minute ride and save money for a much better and cheaper accommodation in Bilbao.
