Sfakian Horizon

The hotel is situated above the pretty village of Sfakia the evacuation point of Allied soldiers following their defeat by a German airborne campaign in 1941. The hotel is of modern attractive construction and included individual rooms and apartments. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment (#18) which had a room with a queen bed and a hair dryer and TV and a sitting room/kitchen area with a comfortable sleeper couch and another TV. Wi-Fi was amongst the best we experienced on Crete. The apartment has a substantial balcony with a terrific view of the harbor as well as the hotel pool. The apartment had air conditioning but we did not need it. There were two issues in need for improvement -lighting is poor in both rooms and there are no reading lights. The bathroom was simple with a single sink, toilet and a shower curtained shower with a hand held shower head. Breakfast is included in the very reasonable room rate and includes fresh squeezed orange juice, Greek yoghurt and cereals, uncut fruit, simple cold cuts, boiled & scrambled eggs and bacon. Service was excellent and the room was cleaned on a daily basis. All in all the hotel is to be recommended for individuals and families

Horizons is a series of rooms and two roomed apartments at the very back of Chora Sfakion: excellent for view but a hard walk down to the main village. We had a two roomed apartment. Ghastly bathroom: small shower area - hand-held shower- stickty shower curtain. One doublebed bedroom with TV, very poor lighting but with access to private balcony: another room with a poorly fitted (cheap?) kitchen area, some ill-made upright chairs ( the backs were not fitted correctly), one day bed and a TV. Breakfast was a buffet with coffee /tera. orange juice (good), four sorts of bread (fresh) cereals, fresh melon, yoghurt, honey and orange jam, spanokopita or tiropita, cucumberm olives, tomato, little apple turnovers, rizogala, and hard boiled eggs, hot scrambled eggs and hot bacon. Well presented. We paid 90 euros cash per night for the two of us to use an apartment and have breakfast. not bad value for money. The snag for us was that to get to a room you needed to walk down stairs. These are Cretan stairs: no handrail and there was no overwhelming willingness to help with our bags. (I am elderly and find stairs very difficult). However while there was no offer to help us load our car when we left, no praise could be too hogh for the ladies who cleaned our apartment daily. Excellent service

We booked this hotel in november 2022. We got the room that we asked for, but the lady at the reception said we were lucky to have this room, because of availability. This was a bit strange. But the room - apartment - was ok, very big and clean .The swimming pool was nice, but the opening hours were strange again ( 10am - 14pm and 17pm - 20pm ). All together we liked the hotel very much, with the very kind kitchenlady Eleni and the kind staff at the reception.

Receptionist was very pleasant, lovely view , the pool was small but clean, breakfast and eating area were ok, Wi-Fi was good. Bathrooms were dark, showers not fit for purpose, wardrobes and cupboards smelt damp and musty, electricity fusebox had to be used, little or no signage to complex which is challenging when one is new to area. Cost charged is exorbitant for current amenities. Urgent updating is needed

Checking out the southern part of Crete more for business than pleasure we were surprised at how clean and welcoming the hotel was. The sea facing room had everything needed with staff who went out of their way to ensure your stay was pleasurable A spotlessly clean swimming pool was very welcome at the end of the day Snacks were available from the bar area around the pool which also doubled up as the breakfast area And talking about breakfast the choice was excellent with a buffet that will have you firing on all cylinders for the rest of the day My only advice would be to bring jellies when you go swimming off the beach if you have baby feet like me

We had an apartment with a sea view on the top floor. It was large, clean and nicely furnished, but the best thing was the view over the bay. They have a good sized pool and on-site parking. The breakfast was also good with plenty of variety, including bacon and scrambled eggs. All the staff we met were particularly friendly and helpful.

I stayed with my husband and 8 months’ baby in this hotel for 2 nights. I’ll try to be objective and tell you the positive and the negative. The first positive thing is the parking, then, the position of the hotel near by the center (5 minutes by walk with few stairs) is also a must and the view which is very nice. For the rest I would say it must be reviewed. Their is no access for disability persons o for parents with a baby in a stroller. You have stairs everywhere. To go to the pool, to the reception and to your room, so not easy at all. The room is a good size but old style. The AC is in the bedroom but the rest of the apartment is really hot. The kitchen can’t be used because even if you have a kitchen you don’t have the tools to use it. Even cooking pasta looks complicated. The worst is now coming. The INSALUBRITY of the place. The first night, we could find out numerous ANTS everywhere. Important thing to know, we never eat in the apartment. Let’s wait for the second night. We saw a COCKROACH in the kitchen. With a baby, I just wanted to leave the place. The first goal of an hotel is to pay in exchange of a place to sleep safely and in a clean environment. That was not the case. Even if the girl of the reception the next day tried to satisfy me by offering me a coffee, I would say that you could find a way more better hotel everywhere else. The price is too high for the quality of the hotel. If you choose this hotel, change your mind or sleep with insects in a disgusting environment.

Clean rooms, nice staff. The pool area was nice and enjoyed lounging by the pool. A quick walk down gets you into town where all the restaurants are located and the harbor.
