The location is close to Utrecht Central station where are lot of bars and restaurants, as well as a big shopping mall nearby. Staff are friendly and helpful, but the locker may not fit a big luggage and you may need to rent one. The bed is comfortable and clean. Note: even you paid hotel fee on trip.com, you still need to pay tax for the hotel

We stayed at this nice hotel when walking “long distance routes” at Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Excellent rooms. They advertise a lot about there renovated brasserie but that’s closed on weekdays. I couldn’t find the bar or the regular restaurant on their website, so only after calling them it became clear they actually do have a restaurant. Easy to change i think. Restaurant had a nice buffet. Coffee, tea is free during the day in a cosy lounge. Very nice place to stay.

I had a terrible experience in this hotel at the end of August. Someone(s) broke into my room for 2 consecutive days with my door confirmed locked. The hotel didn't treat me seriously, they couldn't provide any convincing explanation or compensation. I went there for a business trip and had booked this hotel for 10 nights. The break in incident happened in the early morning 5:30am after my first sleep. I heard someone tried to open my door, but because I had locked it, so the intruder shaked the handle a few times, and eventually it did open!!! I went down and reported to the reception directly and asked if there was any CCTV. The staff said she didn't know...had to wait for her colleague to come back to answer me in the evening....by then i was told that there was no CCTV in this hotel...and they admitted it was one of their staff who broke into my room!!! I requested an explanation, the front desk only said it would not happen again. I requested to meet the duty manager, she said the manager would talk to me tomorrow....this is how they treated this security issue and code of conduct ”seriously”. Totally unacceptable. I could only go back to my room for the 2nd night. But then at 7:15am in the next morning, there was someone broke into my room again!! With a loud door closing sound, which i even more confirmed then the first time. The intruder went out as well before showing his/her face. It was unbelievable!!! I reported to the front desk again but they seemed not believe in me. Said it was not their staff this time and it was impossible to unlock the door with other cards. Long story short, it took me a whole day again in order to talk to the duty manager. And i personally showed her how to unlock my door using her card. She was finally speechless and arranged a new room for me. She said would investigate But I still could not receive a solid explanation in the next day and really felt unsafe. I was not able to sleep well and was super alert to different sounds. The next day the GM finally met me, but then still no compensation or with any gesture of apology. Didn't feel i was treated seriously so I decided to change the hotel for personal safety. They still charged me the fee for the 3 days. This was my worst hotel experience ever. I booked this hotel through Hotels.com using my tesco reward points. So I only had to pay taxes. I stayed from Wed-Mon in the middle of July. I was sent the long way around to this hotel by google maps but when I said to the receptionist that I wouldn’t be able to walk that way at night she corrected me and it was only a short climb up the steps to the train station. I arrived at 11am and was just expecting to use the toilet and leave my luggage. But Estella said my room was ready and so I went straight up to the 9 floor. My room was right over the train lines but with the windows shut you did not hear them. A huge bed, lovely shower and a fridge. The bed was very comfortable. I needed to get to De Meern to see friends and Estella pointed me in the right direction for a lovely walk which took 60 minutes in the lovely countryside. Breakfast was great and and even though the hotel was full there were no queues for breakfast. Throughout my stay all staff were kind and polite. My only negatives and they are so small was when I asked for more regular coffee reception didn’t have again and the cup holder on the ice machine was nearly always empty. Overall I have had a excellent stay and I will be back.

Only steps away from the Utrecht Central Station, this Hampton Inn is extremely convenient if traveling by train. Amsterdam and AMS are about a 30 minute train ride. The hotel is located inside a shopping mall which is very safe and secure. The old canal area, with its many shops, bars, and restaurants are also just a very short walk away. Rooms are typical for this hotel brand, but maybe a bit smaller if you are accustomed to American sized rooms. The free breakfast can be crowded at peek hours. However, the quality of the breakfast is outstanding for a select service hotel.

Hotel got a refurb this year, and looks nice on paper. Staff very service minded, BUT that is also to cater for a few shortcomings. * Pool/sauna great, but they lack pool towels. Asking reception or housekeeping for an extra one on the room is just cumbersome. * Restaurant 'Baron' has nice HB dinners, a la carte also looks fine. But nothing like an amuse or bread with oil with the drinks, then the wait for the meal courses is long. Great staff, they found a replacement dessert for us as the standard offer was not our taste. Spacious rooms, often with shared balcony. Great buffet breakfast. Good free walking and biking routes.
