Premier Inn Southend-On-Sea (Thorpe Bay)

This is an older hotel in the group but it’s well located, clean, tidy and the bathroom works. Parking is free and there’s a short walk or bus ride into the town centre. There’s a Toby Inn right next door to the hotel but not associated with the Premier Inn group. The food is cheap and it’s convenient but there are many other eating establishments very close by. It’s surprisingly quiet considering how close it is to the town and the main coast road. For the price it’s a bargain

there is no restaurant attached to this place, which is mentioned, in very small print. They suggest the Toby Carvery which is very near by. However, they do not do the same meal deals as Premier Inn. I will review the carvery separately but don't use it for breakfast, it is not good. In this Premier Inn there was no internet of any description, which is very poor as it mentions free wifi on the website. This place could also do with a complete makeover as it looks rather shabby with paint missing from walls, the caulking is missing in places as well. I have never been disappointed with any stay at Premier Inn, ( and I have visited around 20) until now, so it saddens me to write this review.

This Premier Inn is in such a great location, away from the bustle of the golden mile but of the sea front, but near enough to be accessible. The staff were all amazing, couldn’t be more helpful. Pricing was good for a Sun/Mon night.

We picked this branch over the main Southend one for the free parking. It doesn’t have an affiliated restaurant, so no meal deals here, but there is a Toby Grill next door with a cheap buffet, albeit not quite as cheap nor as good as a meal deal one. Check in good, easy and friendly. Always welcomed with a hello when we returned to the room. Very quiet as slightly set back off main road. Either no or few sea facing rooms here. Half an hour walk to the pier entrance. There is a machine for drinks and snacks but as is usual for these; pricey. There is a convenience store along the road not too far. No lift. You need to request to have the room serviced if you are staying more than one night. No discount offered if you choose not to though. I would also recommend the Gold Coast Chinese restaurant not far past the Toby, #2 on here at the time of writing, or the Italian Sunset bar which is even closer. Both excellent food and service.

Lovely stay at this hotel, we were greeted by a friendly lady on reception by the name of Chris. Room was clean and spacious, had everything we needed. A stones throw from the beach! Handy having the Toby Carvery so close too. We will be coming back to Southend in the next few months and will definitely be staying here again. Thank you

First time staying at this hotel and likely to be the last. The staff were fantastic but we were unlucky enough to stay in a room where we had a herd of elephants in the room above. They were pacing and jumping around from 11.30pm until approx 4.30am so we had very little sleep. Not impressed! We stay at Premier Inns regularly and appreciate that this rarely happens but when it does it wrecks the weekend!!

Professional courteous reception team. Free parking. Quiet. Windows that open and a fan in the bedroom. Only 2 floors so minimal stairs. 1 of the cleanest we've stayed in. Local restaurants get booked up on Saturdays. Can recommend Gold Coast Chinese - go hungry!

We were staying here for a wedding at a neighbouring hotel. Super location as it was a short walk, easy which was required as my dad is currently using a wheelchair. Lovely, lovely staff who were helpful and attentive. This hotel does not have the usual pub associated with it that you expect at a Premier Inn. There is a Toby Carvery next door, but we chose to have breakfast on the beach front instead during our stay as there was a few places a short walk away. Hotel comes with a large car park all in all a great base and perfect if you’re at a wedding at Roslin Beach Hotel.

Very convenient location, friendly staff, clean rooms and free parking. There is a Toby Carvery on-site and books to borrow or buy for charity. We were disappointed that there was no bedding for the sofa bed despite asking for a twin room and we had no decaf tea or coffee sachets in the room. Reception staff watched like a hawk as we collected some sachets from the front deck which felt highly uncomfortable as we had no intention of taking more than we needed. There was a lot of light coming into the room from around and under the door and curtains which made it difficult to sleep. The shower was great and the TV size was very good. We had free WiFi too which was convenient.
