Stayed here for one night during the heatwave and was so grateful for the air conditioning! The room stayed nice and cool. Staff were friendly, the bed was cosy, and we had no complaints at all.

Room was boiling throughout stay I really struggled to function and when I asked for help I was told that 19 degrees was the lowest temperature for the air con (heating!). First night arrived late had to go to reception and ask for a clean duvet cover, it was so hot I ended up just sleeping under the cover and leaving the duvet. Could barely get dressed the following day I was sick with the heat in the room and then on my last morning after no sleep again due to the heat I left at 8am and told reception that there's no point in having a 12pm check out time if the rooms are unbearably hot. Car park busy all hours, people sitting on the steps of the 2nd building and cars in and out.

When you enter you can tell that its not clean through receptionist.Inside the corridor it smells as carpet maybe wet and from not being vacuum properly . It smells old and stale and theres no window to bring fresh air inside. It continues to the room , not clean properly , dusty , stale , and carpet not vacuum as can still see dirt on floor. Maybe it needs window as it cant opened but overall not good experience. Need to up their cleaning standard as people uses this room to avoid sickness and illness.

As a regular visitor to the Hanley hotel, I’m usually pretty tired when I arrive and just looking to get some rest - the lovely welcome I receive from all staff and help checking in, especially from the lovely Rose and Hannah too makes it all so easy and majestic me feel special!! Like visiting family. Highly recommended for a warm welcome!

Stayed here for 1 night for Alton towers visit. Bathroom was not clean; brown marks on the walls and on the toilet paper dispenser 🤢 toilet was also not cleaned. I informed the receptionist who was very kind and understanding, she moved us to another room and gave us a free breakfast- I hate complaining but the cleanliness was not up to usual standards, have never had an issue with the cleanliness in other premier inns before. Staff were very friendly in reception (I’m sorry I didn’t get there names but they were 2 women) and also staff at breakfast very friendly and helpful. Hotel is about 30 minutes drive to Alton towers and there is also a large Tesco about 5 minute walk from the hotel which was handy. I felt very welcome at this hotel, just a shame about the cleaning :( the room we got moved to also was not cleaned well but wasn’t as bad as the other room. Wish I could have given more points to this hotel but I feel the rooms especially bathrooms need better cleaning.

Good points: Easy to book and was assisted with check in without having to ask. Room was easily accessible, clean, comfortable and quiet. Facilities were fine for a one night stay. I arrived before check in time and was able to leave my luggage. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Brewer's Fayre evening meal was good for 'pub grub'. Not so good: Price for one night was acceptable but on the high side and very close to my budget limit! I did not arrive by car and if I had not been met by a local resident at the station I may have struggled to find the hotel. Some clearer directions including which bus to catch and walking distances would be helpful. Not everyone will want to get a cab from the station. I found the whole building very hot and airless. It felt hermetically sealed and quite claustrophobic. I was glad I had not arrived in a heatwave! As an older person staying alone I was concerned that there did not seem to be any means of contacting staff in an emergency in my room. I was not asked if I knew how to use the key card for access and that it needed to be inserted inside the room to put the power on. The key card needed to be jiggled to get it to work! The bed was very high. If I was shorter I may have found it difficult to get in and out of safely. There was no decaf coffee in my room and no indication that this and additional tea/coffee etc was available in reception although I did find it by chance. Some drinking water in the room would be a good addition.

Stayed here to visit the Emma Bridgewater factory and Waterworld, nice cosy hotel. There was an unusual heat wave and the air con is set not to go below 19, as the room was soo hot the staff very kindly gave us a fan so we could sleep comfortably. All staff were friendly and polite. The only negative is our room (number 7) needed a good dust, thick dust on vents and other area’s, carpet needed a vacuum and bathroom needed new sealant around the bath. Just needs a bit of cleanliness to be the usual premier inn standard we are used too.

The Good: Convenient location. Friendly staff to check you in quickly. Good size room, clean, comfortable bed and good pillows and linens. Room was nicely dark at night, no light leaks. Bathroom OK. I slept well in the end in spite of my comments below. The Bad : Efforts should be made to accommodate solo travelers only in adjoining rooms, where possible. I had noisy teens next door and I heard every word, shriek, giggle, curse word - even heard the content they played on their phones, through and under the door between our rooms. I hate to do it, but I asked for another room. The "accessible" room I was offered was hot, damp, musty and smelled absolutely terrible. I nearly gagged. And there were people walking up and down right outside the window. I RAN back to the shrieking teenagers! I didn't find a wifi code or welcome folder in the room. There's no phone. There were no frills - in the bathroom only a jug of liquid soap. Nothing else. The Ugly : the site and situation of the building are very unattractive! You'd NEVER think it was a hotel. Looked like a back alley.
