Hotel Republica Boutique Hotel

This beautiful boutique hotel in a quiet city of Tomar spoiled me for the rest of the trip and Portugal. I can’t say enough things about how great our experience was the hotel is located in the city central Plaza. There are Catholic Church that rings the bell on every hour. The cafés and the quaint shops, as well as the kind local people made it so spectacular. We had an excellent meal at the hotel Joseph Anthony was our waiter and extremely experienced and recommended the best meals and brought us a delicious bottled wine. The front desk staff were very convivial and very informative. Bruno was extremely helpful and friendly. Everyone there helped me with my pronunciation of Portuguese. I believe this little village is the truest gem that I’ve experienced so far and Portugal

The Hotel is very well located, an easy walk from the train station, strolley bag in tow, the sights of Tomar are accessible on foot and there are loads of restaurants of every budget to choose from in the vicinity. The room and toilet was large. Tania at reception was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful. To walk to the Convento, I recommend the route through the Park Sete Rios, rather than the steep cobbled path, as it hurts your feet terribly. The Hotel and the room had a strong oppressive perfume pervading the Hotel. The rooms have heavy velvet curtains which have absorbed the perfume and no amount of keeping the window open could get rid of the sickly-sweet smell. One evening the lady at the reception treated us a bit strangely, stopping us from entering and asking us to identify ourselves, this was unprecedented. It was neither Tania, nor the cheerful Brazilian, who was on duty on our last night.

We went to hotel Republica for the holiday season at the end of 2023 and had a delightful time. The location of the hotel could not be better as it is situated right on the main plazza. Our suite overlooking the plazza was not only very comfortable but exquisitely decorated. It included an oversized marble bathroom with double jacuzzi - a touch of luxury we truly appreciated. The service was exceptional both at the hotel and its restaurant. As the food was great (and very affordable!), we found ourselves enjoying most of our meals there. Tomar is a picturesque city with a charming ambiance and a rich historical heritage. The Convent of Christo is an extraordinary place to visit. We also ventured in countryside amonst hills, lakes and olive trees, and went to Nazaré for half a day as it is very closeby. We will definitely come back to Hotel Republica in Tomar.

Spent two nights here if there was a place to put 10 Stars this Hotel would receive it. The staff is exceptional goes out of their way to be very helpful to accommodate any of your needs. The rooms are warm and inviting, bed is exceptionally comfortable. If you are in Tomar highly recommend this is the place to stay.

This place is perfectly located right in the historic, scenic city square. You can walk to so many sites, restaurants, etc. The staff members were charming and exceptional. The breakfasts were very good. Loved everything about the place.

We like boutique hotels that don't have a lot of amenities but put their resources into doing the basics really well. Hotel República fit the bill. The room was lovely and quiet; the bathroom was enormous with a fantastic shower. The location on the town square next to the church was perfect. (But don't follow Google maps to get there--it will take you down an impossibly narrow street and drop you on the opposite side of the square.) Unlike bigger hotels, breakfast was uncrowded and relaxed--a nice way to start each day. Delicious too! However, the best part of the experience was the assistance we got from the front desk staff, especially Danielle. She went out of her way to make our stay comfortable and stress free. I wish every hotel had someone just like her.

Visited with my wife in hot July and had a really nice time. Hotel is located in the old town square, which is perfect as a base for exploring Tomar and the Convent. Offsite parking is a little tricky but manageable. Just know that streets and alleys are narrow.  Inside, the hotel reception area is quaint. Everything was spotless. Our room felt modern and super clean. Nice bathroom with shower. If we were staying longer, we would have chosen a room overlooking square. Hotel had complimentory baked treats throughout our stay, which were tasty. Breakfast was very good and had shaved black boar, right off the leg. Servers were attentive. The best part of our stay was our host, Tanya (not sure if I'm spelling her name correctly). She has a bubbly and endearing personality and was happy to answer our questions. I enjoyed talking with her about my crazy experience on the aquaduct. It was refreshing to meet such a genuinely nice person. She made our stay very memorable! Overall, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Little but very nice and familiar, where the rooms also have the names of celebrities. Situated in the very beautiful and historical city of Tomar. Not far from Nazaré, where you can watch the biggest waves in the world, in winter.

Tomar is a wonderful old town in Portugal where one can spend a delightful weekend or a few days soaking up the flavours of the town and the Hotel Republica is probably the best place to be in Tomar. It has a wonderful outdoor brasserie where one can take an apperitif or a light meal. The service is extremely friendly and the guest is made to feel special. The same should be said for the Hotel Republica. Everything about the hotel is first-rate. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the service is efficient and the staff speeak several languages so there are no problems with communication. They are also very efficient at booking sightseeing trips or travel to other locations withing Portugal, where
