【Fukuoka】Plum Seed Offering at Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine

The plum blossoms of Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine are usually in full bloom from February to March. The photo is from February of last year. Starting from May of Reiwa 5 (2023), the main shrine will undergo major renovations for the first time in 124 years, and it is currently replaced by a provisional main shrine. Visitors will only be able to worship at the provisional main shrine for three years. I will post about the provisional main shrine again separately. When visiting Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, did you know that there is a place behind the main shrine where you can offer plum seeds? It is said that the plum seeds, which are believed to be inhabited by the spirit of Tenjin-sama, are offered there. Why not stop by before heading to the plum garden?
