Sunday Chill at The Mistral

What could be better on a Sunday than enjoying a luxurious and exquisite three-hour Sunday Brunch with friends under the beautiful weather? Located on the first floor of the InterContinental Grand Stanford Hotel, the Italian restaurant The Mistral offers a spectacular and abundant seaside brunch every Sunday. The food, environment, and service are all to my liking, allowing me to comfortably spend and enjoy my time in Hong Kong. Let's start with the appetizer section, which is incredibly rich! It includes Parma ham, pork neck, smoked ham, salami, pork loin, Italian sausage, beef tongue, Italian salads, Italian olives, specialty greens, and artisanal cheeses. Seafood lovers will be thrilled at the seafood bar! Choices include crab legs, crayfish, prawns, thinly sliced yellowfin tuna, mussels, Boston lobsters, sea snails, fresh clams, octopus salad, and marinated Norwegian salmon. I believe seafood enthusiasts will have no complaints. There's also a variety of ready-made appetizer salads to choose from! These include couscous salad, Italian frittata, quinoa salad, beef tongue, pasta salad, buffalo cheese with tomatoes, and beetroot salad. My favorite is the station offering freshly made pasta, Italian risotto, and Italian vegetable soup, served hot and fresh starting at noon! The dessert area is also very attractive, are you ready, sweet lovers? First, there's the all-you-can-eat candy section for kids, and I absolutely love this array of macarons with various flavors. Plus, the Mövenpick ice cream is available for unlimited enjoyment, which makes me so happy. The dessert section on the other side is filled with a plethora of unique Italian desserts! These include signature Italian cheesecake, Sicilian cream rolls, mille-feuille, black truffle Basque cheesecake, and what attracts me the most is Chef Fabio Guaglione's mother's chocolate mousse. If you, like me, enjoy a tipsy feeling on Sundays, I highly recommend upgrading to unlimited drinks! For an additional $200 per person on top of the Brunch price, you can enjoy unlimited drinks of various wines! This includes Moët champagne, where just one glass is worth the price of admission. After the introduction, it's time to start the meal! Let's begin with the first round of appetizers and seafood starters. Before eating, let's enjoy a glass of Moët & Chandon Imperial Brut! The champagne has a delicate taste with mineral and pear aromas, and its slightly high acidity makes it an excellent aperitif. A little bit of seafood, cold cuts, and salad shared makes for a rich appetizer photo. The various cold cuts are of high quality, with Lardo being the most special! It can be described as a deluxe version of pork lard, melting in the mouth and definitely a sinful delight. This plate of ready-made salads and grilled vegetables will surely satisfy my love for vegetables. The most attractive in the chilled seafood is definitely the plump and sweet crab legs. The orange-red and snow-white crab meat is full of the fresh taste of the sea and is delicious. This Lambrusco Ceci sparkling wine has a rich gem-red color, with aromas of ripe cherries, floral notes, and a delicate palate, leaving me with an unforgettable taste. After the cold cuts and seafood, it's time to start on the starches! The handmade pasta and wontons are full of texture, and the small portions won't make you too full. When you feel satiated, a sip of the tangy Italian vegetable soup is just right. Cantine Pellegrino Grillo is a white wine with a Day and full-bodied taste, with citrus aromas and moderate acidity, making it a great match for my main course. Partheninm Nero D'avola is a full-bodied red wine with a smooth texture and rich oak and fruit flavors, making it the perfect pairing for beef. Finally, it's time for the main course! As a seafood lover, I chose the seafood stew, which is filled with fresh grouper, clams, mussels, sea bass, squid, and prawns. Each ingredient is very fresh, and the dish is not too rich, making it a perfect main course when you're half full. Beef lovers will of course choose the signature dish here, the pan-seared M4 Australian Wagyu beef fillet! In addition to the beef fillet, there's also a rich and savory foie gras mousse, with the pink meat complemented by the red wine sauce, satisfying my friend immensely and leaving nothing behind. Because I was so satisfied, I only lightly chose a few desserts to taste! What attracted my mouth the most was Chef Fabio Guaglione's mother's chocolate mousse, with its rich chocolate flavor and silky smooth texture, I couldn't help but eat the whole cup. In the end, we also got a cup of Kimbo coffee or TWG tea. I chose my favorite Earl Grey to aid digestion, and then left contentedly with a full belly. The Mistral brunch has an exclusive offer on the hotel's official website, with a net price of $653.6 per adult (original price $756.8), $368.6 per child (original price $426.8), and for adults with unlimited Moët & Chandon Imperial Brut champagne and wine, it's $843.6 per person (original price $976.8).
