Changchunmen Cultural Park, full of old Ningbo memories

Changchunmen of Ningbo was originally built at the end of the Tang Dynasty, located to the south of Ningbo city. It was a dual gate for both land and water traffic, with the land gate for pedestrians, carriages, and horses, and the water gate for boats. It was destroyed at the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty and later rebuilt. In the 1930s, the city walls and gates were demolished. To protect the historical and cultural heritage of the area while also providing a place for citizens' leisure and entertainment, the area was transformed into a cultural park following the principles of restoration and protection of the original site and landscape treatment of the surface layer only. The park has a 'fishbone' street layout, presenting a pattern of one street, one river, and one market. Existing cultural relics in the park include Chenghuai School, Huiqing Hospital, Chen Residence, and Xiangyang Bridge. Chenghuai School was established in the late Qing Dynasty, with a main building and entrance hall remaining, and is a Ningbo municipal cultural relics protection site. Huiqing Hospital is an architectural relic from the Republic of China period, founded by Mr. Chen Huiqing, a member of the early 'Ningbo Gang'. It offered both traditional Chinese and Western medicine and made a positive contribution to the development of Ningbo's medical and health services.
