|Visit the ancient Sui Dynasty temple Guoqing Temple.🛕 Guoqing Temple is located in Tiantai County, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province. It was founded in the 18th year of Sui Kaihuang (598 AD), originally named Tiantai Temple, and later renamed Guoqing Temple, meaning 'when the temple is completed, the country will be clear'. 👨‍🦲The Sui Dynasty monk 'Master Zhezhe' founded the Tiantai Sect at Guoqing Temple, which is the birthplace of the Tiantai Sect of Chinese Buddhism, and its influence extends both domestically and internationally. Jianzhen visited Guoqing Temple when he went east. The Japanese study monk Zui Cheng came to Tiantai Mountain to study Buddhism, learned from Dao Sui, and after returning to Japan, he built Yanli Temple on Mount Hiei and founded the Japanese Tiantai Sect, later honoring Guoqing Temple on Tiantai Mountain in Zhejiang as the ancestral temple. 🙏The existing buildings of Guoqing Temple were rebuilt in the 12th year of Qing Yongzheng (1734). Guoqing Temple in Tiantai, Zhejiang, is known as one of the 'Four Uniques' of Chinese temples, along with Lingyan Temple in Jinan, Qixia Temple in Nanjing, and Yuquan Temple in Dangyang. The temple has been home to many famous monks, including Master Tang Yixing, Hanshan, Shide, Jigong Monk, Kukai, the founder of the Japanese Tōmitsu, and Zui Cheng, the founder of the Japanese Taimitsu.
