Southern Private Manor - JieXia Manor

In the southern Doumen, there is an ancient village called JieXia Manor. In this small village, there is a well-preserved protective moat, which is also the largest in South China. The original inhabitants of this ancient village are mainly surnamed Zhao, who are said to be descendants of the Zhao Song royal family. There are also two 'Imperial Edicts' bestowed by the Emperor Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty within the manor. JieXia Manor once flourished during the Qing Dynasty's Jiaqing era but gradually declined by the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China. Now, there are still many well-preserved Qing Dynasty buildings in JieXia Manor, witnessing the once prosperous scene. A poem says: Wealthy beyond the southern gate, a hero of his time, prosperity vanished in a blink, leaving but a trace behind. Now only the waters round the manor stay, remembering those who once with hardship did their fortunes lay.
