In 2000, the Huairou District government designated it as a scenic area. On May 25, 2006, the Mutianyu Great Wall, along with other sections, was listed as part of the sixth batch of Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level by the State Council of China, while also being incorporated into the fifth batch—the Great Wall. In 2011, it was rated as a AAAAA-level tourist attraction by the National Tourism Administration.

Show More ReviewsWe had a really great day at the Mutianyu Great Wall. Everything was well organized, from the transportation from the city and back to the whole tour. Our guide was excellent — very friendly, helpful, and explained everything clearly. We first explored the western section, towers 14–20, and then decided to pay extra for the open two-seater chairlift and the toboggan ride back down. We also chose to visit the eastern section, towers 6–1. It cost around €18 extra per person, but it was definitely worth it and gave us the chance to see even more of the Great Wall.We had around 5 hours of free time to explore, which was perfect. The views and scenery were absolutely amazing.Overall, an excellent experience and really good value for money. We would definitely recommend this tour!
