Worth a short visit to wander among historic buildings in a quieter part of the city. Some of the buildings look like they began life as kura. Old buildings have been restored and converted. Histor...
An oasis of tranquillity in a busy city, well worth taking the time to wander round and wallow in the Japanese mastery of landscape and gardening. It was quiet when I went - i feel it may get very bus...
I changed the tram to Line B at the Karashimacho tram stop and got off at the Shinmachi tram stop and took a walk for a while. It seems that there were older buildings than today before the Kumamoto earthquake, but there are still some older buildings. I walked to see both the castle town building and the retro building.
It was nice that the town itself had a calm atmosphere and had a taste. It was like a small Kyoto in Kumamoto where you can enjoy the scenery of 々 in the four seasons.

It's fun to take a walk because there are old buildings and bridges left. It may be more interesting to know the history. The name of the town is also interesting, so please take a walk with one hand on the map.
