Niushou Mountain is located next to Ningdan Avenue in Jiangning District, Nanjing. Niushou Mountain is also known as Tianque Mountain. The top bone relics of Sakyamuni Buddha are enshrined on the mountain, also known as the "Buddha's top". We took a taxi to get there. When you arrive you have the option to walk up to the temple which is about 40 minutes or you could take a bus. We took a bus to the peak where you could see the temples and different buildings. We went on a day that it was rainy which made it tough to navigate but I could only imagine walking around on a hot day. There’s a good amount to see but you will probably spend about 2 hours there depending on mode of transportation When we finished the tour there were people near the exit offering 10 yuan for transportation to the metro. A mountain top surprise!!! When we went to Niushoushan for the afternoon we had no knowledge of what we would find apart from being able to see a large temple and pagoda on the route to the summit. However once we reached the top we saw the domed roof of the Usnisa place, still we had no idea what the building was or what it contained. Once we went inside we travelled down what felt like endless escalators, until we reached the vast prayer room, filled with ornate statues and people worshiping and singing. Around the outside layer are thousands of small Buddah and as you climb back up through the palace you can look out from the many balconies. To get to the Palace, you'll need to taxi to the Niushoushan Scenic area and walk to the summit, lots of the steeper parts of the walk have escalators.
