Also known as the Keshang Inclined Railway, this abandoned railway is surrounded by cherry trees on both sides and is a very popular cherry blossom viewing spot. The gray stone road of the old railway is set off with pink cherry blossoms, which has a unique beauty. This section of the railway was originally built because the two sections of Lake Biwa had a relatively large drop along the way from Otsu to Kyoto, and the railway had to be relied on to assist the waterway to transport materials.
