Photos of Kofuku-ji

The predecessor of Kofuku-ji Temple can be traced back to Sanjie-ji Temple in Asuka, which was built in 669. After the Fujiwara family moved the capital to Heijo-kyo in 710, it was all moved to present-day Nara and renamed as Kofuku-ji Temple. Because it is the family temple of the Fujiwara family, the temple has received a certain degree of attention and protection, and it has become one of the seven major temples in the Heian period. Later, due to a series of power struggles, many buildings were destroyed. Today's Xingfu Temple was rebuilt during the heyday of the Hei clan. landmark building. The temple also houses many national treasure-level balances and Buddhist sculptures from the Kamakura period. We can see their treasures in the National Treasure Museum, such as the statue of Asura, the head of the six-sixth Buddha, as well as some paintings and historical materials.
