Xinglong Photo

About Xinglong: Xinglong is in northeast Hebei and is under the administration of Chengde City, the southern part of which has an ancient history and is rich in cultural significance. Access to Xinglong’s Mount Wuling (“Mist Spirit Mountain”) was restricted by the Qing dynasty (1644-1912) for feng shui reasons, so the area was sealed off for 260 years. This preserved its fine natural ecosystem, and today it is one of the popular spots to visit when touring the countryside. Xinglong is also known as the home of the mountain hawthorn - the tart red fruit famously sugar-glazed and eaten from skewers - and the Chinese chestnut.
