From 1929 to 1931, he hosted the Guangdong Institute of Drama and worked in drama creation. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, he was the director of the Guangxi Art Museum. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he was the president of the Central Academy of Drama, the vice president of the Chinese Federation of Literature and the president of the Chinese Dance Association. His works include: memoirs since the self-acting drama, film halfway home, essays, Yu Xuan drama, Yi Deyu copy, and more than 20 scripts such as "Zhongwang Li Xiucheng", "Peach Blossom Fan", "Black Slave Hate".
